In 21st century learning, critical thinking skills are the main choice that must be mastered by students. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of local wisdom-based science teaching materials in improving junior high school students’ critical thinking skills. Most science teachers still apply teacher-centered learning, so students tend to be passive. This type of research is quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. The study was conducted in the even semester of the 2019/2020 school year. The subjects of the research were grade VII students. Data collection techniques and instruments in the form of tests that include indicators of critical thinking skills. Data analysis used homogeneity test, Kolmogorov Smirnov normality test, independent sample t-test, and n-gain score. The results of the independent sample t-test are sig. (2-tailed) = 0,000<sig. α = 0.05. Students’ critical thinking skills in the experimental class were higher (N-gain score = 39.09%) than in the control class (N-gain score = 12.03%). Based on the study results, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence on the application of local wisdom-based teaching materials in improving the critical thinking skills of middle school students in the moderate category.

ABSTRACT[Capacity of student critical thinking through learning base on ecosystem study of water river]. South Bengkulu one of regencies in Bengkulu Province, located west in of the Bukit Barisan Mountains range which has a height of 600-1200 meters above sea level. South Bengkulu has a lot natural wealth that can be utilized as a medium of learning. This research aims to measure the ability of critical thinking and process skill student of class VII MTN 2 south Bengkulu by utilizing environment-based teaching materials. This research uses observation data collection techniques and test (pre test and post test ) Assessment of process skill conducted on two learning activities that is indoor and out door learning activities. Performance of process skill from student of class VII MTsN 2 South Bengkulu including into the category excellent and good while student critical thinking skills classically including into the critical categoryKeywords: student critical thinking skills; environment-based teaching materials’ pre test and post test.(Received November 19, 2018; Accepted April 15, 2019; Published June 18, 2019) ABSTRAKBengkulu Selatan adalah salah satu kabupaten di Provinsi Bengkulu terletak di sebelah barat pegunungan Bukit Barisan di mana ketinggian pegunungan tersebut rata-rata 600-1200 m diatas permukaan laut (dpl) yang mempunyai banyak kekayaan alam yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai media pembelajaran.

Abstract: The science learning process emphasizes providing direct experience to develop competencies in order to be able to explore and understand the nature around scientifically. students can gain direct experience, so they can add strength to accept and apply the concepts they have learned. Integrated science learning deals with the way students think and develop critical thinking skills. These skills include the ability to think critically, think creatively, and problem solving abilities. Modules are printed teaching materials that are designed to be independently studied by students, Module development is done to improve students' critical thinking skills.

This book focuses on four main questions: · How do university staff and students view Islam and Muslims? · How do Muslim staff and students experience their faith identities in different ways on campus?· Where do they get their information from? · What role do different kinds of campus context play in shaping such perceptions? · What does this mean for our understanding of how universities function, particularly their capacity to foster critical thinking and cultural inclusivity? It is based on new research undertaken within a wide range of UK universities, including a national, sector-wide survey of over 2,000 students attending 132 universities and in-depth case studies of six very different campuses, including two Islamic colleges of higher education (the first study to include such institutions). The qualitative research has included conversations involving 253 staff and students across these six institutions, focus groups with Muslims and non-Muslims, analysis of teaching materials, observation of classes, and a variety of events pertinent to understanding how Islam is presented on campus.

This research aims to produce the valid teaching materials. The teaching materials are developed using POE model to increase students’ critical thinking skills in junior high school on pressure topic. The teaching materials developed consist of the lesson plan, student worksheet, student book, the critical thinking skills test, and concept mastery test. The five indicators of critical thinking skills measured in this study are providing simple explanations, the ability to give reasons, make conclusions, make and determine the results of considerations based on the application of facts, and choose alternative solutions. The crab is an organism that has pe a major role in the mangrove ecosystem. The preservation of the mangrove ecosystem cannot be separated from the roles and responsibilities of humans. This can be started by creating awareness and practicing thinking skills to provide solutions to various existing environmental problems. According to the results of the TIMSS study, the low scientific ability of Indonesian students, especially its implementation in the form of scientific literacy, has not shown a good improvement so that learning innovations are needed, one of which is the manufacture of environment-based teaching materials. The purpose of this study was to describe the practicality of the teaching materials "Crab Types in the Mangroves Area" in training students' critical thinking skills at MAN Tanah Laut. The type of research used is the Tessmer formative test. The research data were analyzed descriptively, practical data included the feasibility of using teaching material and student responses, indicating that the teaching materials developed were practical for use in learning and could improve the critical thinking skills of MA students.
