Revision of Hestiasulini Giglio-Tos, 1915 stat. rev. (Insecta: Mantodea: Hymenopodidae) of Borneo, with description of new taxa and comments on the taxonomy of the tribe

The Bornean Oxypilinae species previously included in the genus Hestiasula Saussure, 1871 are revised. External morphology and genital characters of Sundaian taxa differ considerably from the Indian type species H. brunneriana Saussure, 1871, necessitating taxonomic and nomenclatural changes. The genus Catestiasula Giglio-Tos, 1915 is reinstated. It is characterized by the apomorphic partial fusion of the dorsal and ventral laminae of the left phallomere, and by the complete reduction of the apical process. It is represented on Borneo with two species, C. nitida (Brunner de Wattenwyl, 1893) and C. moultoni Giglio-Tos, 1915. An additional species, C. seminigra (Zhang, 1992) n. comb. occurs in continental SE Asia. Two new genera are described, united by the lack of styli, the presence of dorsal carinae on the subgenital plate, and the unique morphology of the dorsal lamina of the left phallomere, but differing in the morphology of head and forelegs. Astyliasula gen. nov. accommodates A. phyllopus (De Haan, 1842) n. comb. and related species from the Sunda Islands and continental SE Asia: A. basinigra (Zhang, 1992) n. comb., A. hoffmanni (Tinkham, 1937) n. comb., A. javana (Beier, 1929) n. comb., A. major (Beier, 1929) n. comb., A. inermis (Wood-Mason, 1879) n. comb., and A. wuyshana (Yang & Wang, 1999) n. comb.. Hestias sarawaca Westwood, 1889 is removed from synonymy with A. phyllopus and reinstated as A. sarawaca (Westwood, 1889) n. comb.. The monotypic taxon Pseudohestiasula borneana gen. nov. sp. nov. is erected for a Bornean endemic more closely related to Astyliasula than to the other genera. Hestiasula is now restricted to H. brunneriana and related species from India and adjacent countries. The tribe Hestiasulini Giglio-Tos, 1915 stat. rev. is proposed for all genera more closely related to Hestiasula than to other Oxypilinae, that is Hestiasula, Ephestiasula, Catestiasula, Astyliasula, and Pseudohestiasula. New data on the ecology and distribution of all Bornean Hestiasulini as well as a key to the Oxypilinae of Borneo are provided.

Field-based revision and phylogenetic analysis demonstrate that the pliomerid trilobite taxon Ibexaspis Přibyl and Vaněk (in Přibyl et al., 1985), previously known from a single formally named species (I. brevis [Young, 1973]), belongs to a complex of 14 mostly newly discovered, related species from the Early Ordovician (Floian; Tulean and Blackhillsian) of the northern Laurentian margin. The species are known from silicified samples recovered from sections in eastern Nevada, western Utah, and southeastern Idaho. The stratigraphically early Tuleaspis n. gen. (type species: T. jeneki n. sp.; Tulean; low Protopliomerella contracta Zone) includes its type and two species described in open nomenclature. Tuleaspis is sister to the remainder of the clade. Ibexaspis now includes three additional species: I. coadyi n. sp. (Blackhillsian; Carolinites nevadensis Zone), I. leuppi n. sp. (Blackhillsian; Presbynileus ibexensis Zone), and I. rupauli n. sp. (Blackhillsian; "Pseudocybele nasuta Zone"). Ibexapsis is sister to a clade of Millardaspis n. gen. + Deltapliomera n. gen. Millardaspis (type species M. milsteadi n. sp.; Tulean; Heckethornia hyndeae Zone) also includes M. knoxi n. sp. (Tulean; Panisaspis sevierensis Zone). Deltapliomera (type species D. humphriesi n. sp.; Blackhillsian, Carolinites nevadensis Zone) also includes D. inglei n. sp. (Tulean; Heckethornia bowiei Zone), D. heimbergi (Tulean; Panisaspis sevierensis Zone), D. eppersoni n. sp. (Blackhillsian; Bathyurina plicolabeona Zone), and a species described in open nomenclature.

The genus Chilecicada Sanborn, 2014 is shown to be a complex of closely related species rather than a monospecific genus. Chilecicada citatatemporaria Sanborn & Cole n. sp., C. culenesensis Sanborn & Cole n. sp., C. curacaviensis Sanborn & Cole n. sp., C. impartemporaria Sanborn & Cole n. sp., C. magna Sanborn & Cole n. sp., C. mapuchensis Sanborn n. sp., C. oraria Sanborn & Cole n. sp., C. parrajaraorum Sanborn n. sp., C. partemporaria Sanborn & Cole n. sp., C. pehuenchesensis Sanborn & Cole n. sp., C. trifascia Sanborn n. sp., C. trifasciunca Sanborn & Cole n. sp., and C. viridicitata Sanborn & Cole n. sp. are described as new. Chilecicada occidentis Walker, 1850 is re-described to facilitate separation of the new species from the only previously known species. Song and cytochrome oxidase I analysis available for most species support the separation of the new taxa from the type species of the genus. Known species distributions and a key to the species of the genus are also provided. The new species increases the known cicada diversity 61.9% to 34 species, 91.2% of which are endemic to Chile.

The sharpshooter genus Lebaziella is described and placed in the tribe Cicadellini. Two new species of Lebaziella gen.nov. are described and illustrated: the type-species L. renatae sp. nov. (Bahia State, Brazil) and L. viridis sp. nov. (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Paraná States, Brazil). Species belonging to the new genus can be distinguished from other genera of Cicadellini based on the following characters: (1) pronotum narrower than head with lateral margin parallel; (2) male pygofer without processes; (3) subgenital plate longer than pygofer with many microsetae distributed across its surface; (4) aedeagus with an unpaired apical process, and (5) paraphyses absent.

Sixteen new species and four new genera of euophryine jumping spiders from the Old World (China, Malaysia and SouthAfrica) are described. The new genera are Chinophrys gen. nov. (type species C. pengi sp. nov.), Foliabitus gen. nov.(type species F. longzhou sp. nov.), Parabathippus gen. nov. (type species Bathippus shelfordi Peckham & Peckham, andnew species P. cuspidatus sp. nov., P. kiabau sp. nov., P. magnus sp. nov.) and Parvattus gen. nov. (type species P. zhui sp.nov.). The other new species belong to the genera Colyttus Thorell, 1891 (C. robustus sp. nov.), Emathis Simon, 1899 (E.gombak sp. nov.), Lagnus L. Koch, 1879 (L. edwardsi sp. nov.), Laufeia Simon, 1889 (L. concava sp. nov. and L. eximiasp. nov.), Thiania C. L. Koch, 1846 (T. latibola sp. nov. and T. tenuis sp. nov.) and Thyenula Simon, 1902 (T. laxa sp. nov.,T. nelshoogte sp. nov. and T. wesolowskae sp. nov.). The following species from Southeast Asia once described as Bathip-pus Thorell, 1892 are transferred to Parabathippus gen. nov.: Bathippus birmanicus Thorell, B. digitalis Zhang, Song &Li, B. macilentus Thorell, B. petrae Prószyński & Deeleman-Reinhold, B. rectus Zhang, Song & Li, B. sedatus Peckham& Peckham and B. shelfordi Peckham & Peckham. Laufeia liujiapingensis Yang & Tang is transferred to Chinophrys gen.nov.. Laufeia scutigeraŻabka is transferred to Foliabitus gen. nov.. Diagnostic illustrations are provided for all of the described new species. Photographs of living spiders are also provided for some new species.

Two new genera and four new species of the mite family Neopygmephoridae (Acari: Pygmephoroidea) are described from the alpine zone (1600–1900 m a.s.l.) of the Central Otago region of the South Island of New Zealand: Protobakerdania Khaustov and Minor gen. nov. with the type species Pygmephorus togatus Willmann, 1942, Neobakerdania Khaustov and Minor gen. nov. with the type species Neobakerdania pilosa Khaustov and Minor sp. nov., and the species Protobakerdania diseta Khaustov and Minor sp. nov., Troxodania minuta Khaustov and Minor sp. nov., and Bakerdania alpina Khaustov and Minor sp. nov. Two new genera, i.e. Kolevia gen. nov. and Microstygia gen. nov., in addition to the five subterranean species were described here as new for science: Kolevia bulgarica n. gen. n. sp., Microstygia deltchevi n. gen. n. sp., Bythiospeum iltchoi n. sp., Belgrandiella lomica n. sp., and Belgrandiella delevae n. sp. The type species of the new genera are designated, holotypes of the new species are depicted, and a map with the sampling sites is provided.

<p>Two new tribes, the Zimmiellini Legalov, trib. n. (type genus: <em>Zimmiellus</em> Kuschel, 2011), which differs from the tribe Rhinorhynchini by the mandible exodontous, maxillary palpi barely extending forward beyond the prementum and position of rostrum base, and the Argentinomacerini Legalov, trib. n. (type genus: <em>Argentinomacer</em> Legalov, gen. n.) that differs from the tribe Rhynchitomacerini by having the pronotum narrowed before the basal fourth, antennae inserted subbasally and club 4-articled. Also erected is a new subtribe Bunyaeina Legalov, subtrib. n. (type genus: <em>Bunyaeus</em> Kuschel, 1994) that differs from the subtribe Mecomacerina by procoxae hemispherical, mesonotum with one coarsely ridged stridulatory file and forehead distinctly wider than apex of rostrum. Two new genera, <em>Nothofagomacer</em> Legalov, gen. n. (type species: <em>Rhynchitomacer</em> <em>apionoides</em> Kuschel, 1959) that differs from the genus <em>Rhynchitomacer</em> by the mandibular sockets not being visible in dorsal view, elytral striae regular, postmentum deeply emarginate and vaginal vestiture absent; and <em>Argentinomacer unicus</em> Legalov, gen. et sp. n. from Argentina, are described. A key to subfamilies, tribes, subtribes, genera and subgenera of Recent Nemonychidae with a list of species is provided. The distribution of some Palaearctic species is specified.</p>

Thirty-four new species and five new genera of euophryine jumping spiders from Papua New Guinea are described. Thenew genera are Chalcolemia (type species C. nakanai sp. nov.), Phasmolia (type species P. elegans sp. nov.), Variratina(type species V. minuta sp. nov.), Viribestus (type species V. suyanensis sp. nov.) and Zabkattus (type species Z. brevis sp.nov., plus new species Z. furcatus sp. nov., Z. richardsi sp. nov. and Z. trapeziformis sp. nov.). The genera Pystira and Zenodorus are both considered as juniorsynonyms of Omoedus because of their similar genital structure. Species of these two genera are therefore transferred toOmoedus. Diagnostic illustrations are provided for all new species, and photographs of living spiders are also provided when available.

The leafhopper tribe Agalliini from China is reviewed. The Chinese fauna includes 44 species of 15 genera including four new genera: Purvigallia gen. nov. (type species: Purvigallia maculata sp. nov., from Yunnan), Skandagallia gen. nov. (type species: Skandagallia dietrichi sp. nov., from Yunnan), Sinoagallia gen. nov. (type species: Sinoagallia serrata sp. nov., from Yunnan) and Sungallia gen. nov. (type species: Sungallia truncata sp. nov., from Yunnan). Japanagallia is the most species rich and includes 17 species from China, of which five are new: Japanagallia curvipenis sp. nov. (China: Xizang), Japanagallia decliva sp. nov. (China: Shaanxi), Japanagallia multispina sp. nov. (China: Guangxi, Guizhou, Shaanxi, Yunnan), Japanagallia palmata sp. nov. (China: Yunnan) and Japanagallia sclerotica sp. nov. (China: Shaanxi). The genus Igerna Kirkaldy (with Igerna channa sp. nov from Guangxi and Tibet) and the European species, Anaceratagallia ribauti (Ossianinilsson) have been recorded for the first time from China. All the new taxa are described and illustrated. A check-list with taxonomic notes as well as a generic key to Chinese Agalliini are also provided.

The pygmy grasshopper subfamily Batrachideinae consists of three tribes: Batrachideini Bolívar, 1887; Cassitettigini Yin, 1984, nom. resurr.; Bufonidini Hancock, 1907, nom. resurr., stat. nov. The Australian pygmy grasshoppers of the tribe Bufonidini are reviewed. Three new genera are described, namely Paraselina gen. nov. (type species Vingselina multifora Rehn, 1952), Anaselina gen. nov. (type species Vingselina minor Sjöstedt, 1921), and Selivinga gen. nov. (type species Selivinga tribulata sp. nov.). Four new combinations are proposed: Paraselina multifora (Rehn, 1952), comb. nov.; P. trituberculata (Sjöstedt, 1932), comb. nov.; P. brunneri (Bolívar, 1887), comb. nov.; Anaselina minor (Sjöstedt, 1921), comb. nov. A key to Australian genera of Batrachideinae is provided.
