Computer-based education makes it possible for gifted and talented middle school and early high school students to complete advanced courses in mathematics and physics several years before they would nocinally do so Since the fall of 1990, three such groups of students at the Education Program for Gifted Youth at Stanford University have taken courses at the advanced placement level and have done exceedingly well. This report details those results.

This chapter describes a children’s book project in which high school students used technology to create e-books for younger students. The benefits of the project for both younger and older students are discussed. Older students developed technology and writing skills; younger students developed letter writing and reading skills. The process is also detailed in the hope that others who might be interested in replicating the project in their own classroom would be able to do so.

A supplementary calculus course was conducted to give highly able students the opportunity to learn the equivalent of two semesters of college calculus while still in high school. Two different student populations were sampled; the average age of the members of Class I was 14.9 years, whereas for members of Class II it was 16.7 years. Class I members had more previous exposure to fast-paced mathematics instruction than had members of Class II. Both classes took the College Board's AP Calculus Examination, Level BC, at the end of the course. The results of the AP examination indicated that most students learned college-level calculus well. Considerations for the establishment of similar programs are discussed.

A fundamental right of American children is to have equal opportunities to obtain a quality education regardless of race, class, or economic status. College graduates are less likely to live in poverty and more likely to have greater earning potential. High school students enrolling in rigorous coursework, like Advanced Placement classes, are better prepared for college. Using the instruments of the Ohio Teacher Efficacy Survey and the Rand Measure, this study found that having a rigorous curriculum and avoiding deficit thinking matters in recommending African-American students' to Advanced Placement classes. Race and ethnicity should not be used as a limitation. Educators must recognize the diversity that each student contributes to the classroom. Additionally, this research revealed that what high school teachers believe about their students' capabilities does influence the success of the students. Teachers who teach Advanced Placement courses have to believe all students can learn, regardless of condition, status, race or economic opportunities.

Pengujian metode pencocokan kata dengan algoritma Boyer-Moore pada soal matematika dan fisika yang sebanyak 30 kali membuktikan bawah aplikasi dapat menampilkan daftar rumus yang sesuai dalam melakukan pencocokkan pola kata kunci di soal baik matematika maupun fisika tingkat SMA.Kata kunci :Pencocokan Kata Kunci, Boyer-Moore, Rumus, Matematika, Fisika[en]Difficult to find and memorize math and physics becomes an obstacle for the majority of high school students, especially in answering the questions that exist. It takes precision to determine what is stated in the question. This study investigated how to make the detection of keywords contained in the math and physics as well matched using string matching method. The algorithm used to perform string matching algorithm is the Boyer-Moore. Each keyword data in the database will be taken based on the physics or mathematics, then broken down per word. Once the data has been broken down into key words per word, every keyword will perform matching to the matter that the user entered with a string matching method. Once matched and the matching result is successful, the application will display a list of formulas that have keywords match the one in question. Testing method of string matching algorithms Boyer-Moore in math and physics as much as 30 times to prove under the application can display a list of the appropriate formula in performing the pattern matching keywords in a matter of both mathematics and physics high school level. Keywords : String Matching, Boyer-Moore, Formula, Math, Physics.

Recently, teaching - learning Science subjects in English has become an urgent need of Vietnamese Education. Although piloted in high schools for gifted students and high-qualified schools with experienced teachers and good students, teaching Science subjects in English still faces many obstacles for many reasons. Among them, finding an appropriate teaching method may be the biggest challenge. The students who are good at Science subjects often does not feel confident about English. Whilst, those who are proficient in foreign language are usually afraid of science subjects and have not yet built up speciallized vocabulary about science. In this context, teaching Science subjects using Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) approach shows high application potential due to the ability to balance both factors - Science knowledge and English simultaneously in a lesson. This study introduces the characteristics of CLIL approach and proposes the steps for preparing CLIL lesson plan. Also included is the analysis of the results of the Pedagogical experiment in High school of Education and Science.

The article analyzes modern research on the effectiveness of the application of different teaching practices for gifted and talented students based on acceleration and enrichment strategies. The data of foreign studies on the size of the educational effect on academic success, social and personal development of gifted and talented students, depending on the applied strategies and training programs, as well as educational levels, are discussed. The positive influence of most forms of acceleration and enrichment on the academic success of gifted students can be considered proven, although the size of the effect is different for different forms and different levels of education. With regard to the socio-emotional and personal development of gifted students, the data on the positive impact is not so clear, while enrichment programs have an advantage, and the maximum effect size is shown for high school students. The problem of the lack of empirical data on the effectiveness of enriched programs for gifted students and most of all for gifted elementary school students has been identified. An example of the implementation of the enrichment strategy for gifted children of this educational level in domestic practice is presented — the program of creative interdisciplinary training “The gifted child”, which has a sufficient, although not complete, evidence base. Its wider implementation and distribution is associated with the problem of psychological and pedagogical training of teachers. The article presents.
