Constructivist theory advocates a “student-centered” teaching model, focusing on learner-centered and problem-based learning, collaborative inquiry learning, and situational learning. Constructivism plays a huge role in college English teaching, by enabling students to give full play to their initiative and enthusiasm. Simultaneously, the use of multimedia technology provides ideal conditions for constructivism to apply to college English teaching. Building a reasonable application of theory in the classroom English teaching, multimedia helps college teachers to optimize the classroom teaching and improve the English teaching quality. Information technology and network, has been fully utilized in the service of teaching, providing the teachers with new teaching ideas and techniques, and bringing the teaching new vitality. This paper discusses and explores how constructivism directs multimedia-assisted English teaching. Designed under the theory of constructivism, experiments were conducted on 188 sophomore students in teaching the course of college English intensive reading. The results of the experiments show the organic combination of constructivism and multimedia assistance can promote the effectiveness of college English teaching, and greatly improve students’ learning ability as well.

The principal objective of Oral English teaching in college is to foster students’ ability of the oral expression and social intercourse. Therefore, the improvement of oral English teaching has been an essential part of college English teaching. College English teachers should put emphasis on oral training and promoting vocabulary accumulation. A Student-centered teaching structure can stimulate expressionism of the youth students and then make oral teaching diversity. This article makes an analysis on college crisis of oral English teaching and put forward five countermeasures for improvement of oral English teaching in college. At the present, the chief problem of English teaching in China lies in mute English which trained people with good scores but low qualities. Students start learning English mostly from their middle or even primary school until they enter into college. However, even more than ten years of study turned people failed to smoothly express in English. The reason is that teachers excessively focus on skills for examination and language itself, and take no account of the training of oral ability. In view of the penetrating knowledge on language intercommunication home and abroad, oral English training has becoming a crucial and constituent part of English teaching in college.

At present, a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation with information technology at its core are accelerating. At present, a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation with information technology at its core is accelerating. The challenge of new economy and new industry has put forward new requirements for the training of talents in China. The challenges of new economy and new industry have put forward new requirements for the cultivation of engineering talents in China. Based on corpus, this study constructed a model of intelligent English teaching assisted by virtual corpus. The traditional teaching of college English reading is based on, around, and for texts. Using DDL model, teachers can break the limitation of textbooks. On the basis of analyzing the general idea of the text, they can search out massive real corpus related to the general idea of the text by searching the core words in the text, so as to provide extensive reading resources for students in the maximum range. At the same time, teachers can rely on the corpus to design different types of teaching activities, realize student-centered task-based, inquiry-based, and autonomous learning and cultivate students’ critical thinking ability, practical ability, and cross-cultural communication ability. This model breaks the limitation of “classroom + textbook,” realizes student-centered task-based, exploratory, and autonomous learning, trains interdisciplinary new engineering talents needed by emerging industries and new economy in the future, and promotes the sustainable development of English teaching. Corpus-data-driven college English teaching mode breaks the limitation of “classroom + textbook,” changes the traditional college English teaching mode, and realizes student-centered task-oriented, inquiry-based, and autonomous learning.

Traditional English teaching practice often centers on the teacher and implements the teaching mode of “exemplifying by the teacher-answering by students-evaluating by the teacher”. This inflexible teaching mode fails to fully exert student’s subjective function; at the same time, due to the lack of necessary guidance and help from teachers, students are more likely to suffer from learning burnout and low self-confidence. With this regard, an English multimedia teaching mode was proposed in this study based on Krashen’s “Language Input Theory”. The theory is characterized by emphasizing the analysis of English language learning from the perspectives of “acquisition” and “learning”, advocating “understanding” of knowledge and using student-centered teaching methods. In this study, Krashen’s theory was combined with interactive learning methods and multimedia information technology to form an English teaching mode focused on “teacher-student”, “student-student” and “student-computer” interactions and build an “in class- after class” and “online-offline” English learning environment. This mode was practically applied in the teaching of “College English” at Hohai University in Jiangsu Province, China. The results show that the English multimedia teaching mode based on Krashen’s theory is more effective than the traditional teaching mode in improving students’ interest and self-confidence in learning.

With the rapid development of computer technology, combined with the features of computer-aided English teaching, college English teaching has tremendously challenged the traditional teaching mode. This change, however, provides a new perspective for the research of non-intelligence factors in students’ learning process. Based on the definition and importance of non-intelligence factors, this paper briefly discusses the cultivation of college students’ non-intelligence factors in the computer-aided language learning environments and put forward some suggestions to optimize the non-intelligence factors from the perspectives of interest in learning, communication awareness and teamwork ability in order to update our teaching idea and improve the quality of college English teaching and training methods.

College English teaching is supposed to cover both language acquisition and culture learning due to the close relationship between language and culture, taking cultural teaching as an indispensible part of college English courses. With the rapid integration of information technology and English curriculum, artificial intelligence has brought new opportunities to college English teaching, and college English cultural teaching methods are now faced with new innovations. In the age of intelligence, to promote teaching quality and learning effect, artificial intelligence technology can be embedded in English teaching practice, exerting its technical advantages and frontier characteristics. In consideration of integrated developing tendency of college English cultural teaching model and modern information technology, the paper is aimed to design and build up an intelligence-aided system so as to extend the depth and width of the application of modern information technology in college English cultural teaching as well as to exploit the great application potential of modern information technology in college English cultural teaching, thus opening a new way and presenting a direction for college English cultural teaching.

The current college English online teaching mode is mainly based on the traditional online MOOC teaching, which has some problems such as poor interaction. Under the mixed background, this paper studies the online college English teaching model based on the Gaussian mutation genetic algorithm and neural network algorithm. Firstly, it briefly introduces the general situation of network English teaching and the hybrid application of the Gaussian mutation genetic algorithm. Through the investigation and test analysis of students before and after class, the experiment evaluates students’ network teaching quality in many aspects. On this basis, a better teaching quality evaluation model is proposed. Finally, the practical application shows that the model in this paper is very feasible. In the end, students have higher enthusiasm and seriousness in the hybrid context of college English online teaching based on the dual algorithm. English teaching quality can make use of each student’s test scores in English classroom. This paper realizes the overall teaching through real-time dynamic tracking. Quantitative indicators are used to sort the influence degree of English classroom teaching indicators, which can effectively evaluate the quality of English classroom teaching.

Multimedia-based teaching and learning is an interesting, interactive, innovative and individualized teaching-learning mode. But according to our survey, there are often some problems in multimedia teaching and learning in practice, such as: lack of emotional exchange between students and teachers, insufficiency of student’s independent learning ability, students’ dilemma in what to choose to learn from diverse online contents, unexpected technical failures, etc. All these factors affect the effectiveness of multimedia teaching. Teachers and students who involve in the multimedia-based English teaching-learning should pay full attention to the problems above, so as to take full advantage of the multimedia technology to improve the effectiveness of the multimedia teaching and learning.
