Experiences in providing an educational consultancy in a developing country This paper examines an educational consultancy in Nigeria. It describes areas such as the resources available, teaching methods, the role of the consultant and long term support. A brief checklist for those undertaking similar consultancies is also given.

In the chapter, Haq analyses the deepening developing country debt problem of the 1980s and outlines the essential elements for an acceptable solution to the problem. To Haq, IMF seemed to be the most appropriate international intermediary to manage this. Haq goes on to outline the specifics of how the role of the IMF could be modified to find long-term solutions for managing developing-country debt.

Different teaching methods are used to make individuals' learning easier and effective. Technological teaching tools are often used in this context. Technological teaching methods create socioeconomic effects while increase human capital, because investments made in human beings provide benefits, both for individuals and society in a long term. In this study, firstly the use of technological teaching methods is investigated and secondly, the role of the gains obtained in the development is analyzed. According to the results obtained, technological teaching methods cause externalities such as reduction of crime rates, revitalization of the economy thanks to investments, increase in the quality of relations of civil society, increase in HDI and increase in employment.

This paper sought to discuss how children in developing countries are coping with the social, emotional and financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their daily lives. Additionally, the evidence presented will increase awareness that children also experience varying impact of COVID-19 and provide guidance about coping mechanisms that may change the course of the impact and limit long term effects of the pandemic on them. It also explored the psychosocial influence of social determinants of children living in a developing country, the impact on their academic continuity and the role of parents in supporting children. Finally, the paper proposes pragmatic recommendations for achieving optimal social outcomes for children who experience pandemics.

The Ukrainian socio-economic crisis has been developing for years and resulted in the open socio-political turmoil and armed conflict. The Ukrainian population didn’t meet objectives of the post-Soviet transformation, and people were disillusioned for years, losing trust in the state and the Future. The role of workers’ remittances in the Ukrainian economy is underestimated, since the personal consumption and stability depend strongly on them. Social inequality, oligarchic control of key national assets contributed to instability as well as regional disparity, aggravated by identity differences. Economic growth is slow due to a long-term underinvestment, and prospects of improvement are dependent on some difficult institutional reforms, macro stability, open external markets and the elites’ consensus. Recovering after socio-economic and political crisis will need not merely time, but also governance quality improvement, institutions reform, the investment climate revival - that can be attributed as the second transformation in Ukraine.

The role of the prominent Soviet economist, academician A. Anchishkin (1933—1987), whose 80th birth anniversary we celebrate this year, in the development of ideas and formation of economic forecasting in the country at the time when the directive planning acted as a leading tool of economic management is explored in the article. Besides, Anchishkin’s special role is noted in developing a comprehensive program of scientific and technical progress, an information basis for working out long-term forecasts of the country’s development, moreover, his contribution to the creation of long-term forecasting methodology and improvement of the statistical basis for economic analysis and economic planning. The authors show that social and economic forecasting in the period after 1991, which has undertaken a number of functions of economic planning, has largely relied on further development of Anchishkin’s ideas, at the same time responding to new challenges for the Russian economy development during its entry into the world economic system.
