Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a common physical disability that is managed with a variety of strategies. One non-invasive intervention for people living with CP is a type of video self-modelling (VSM) referred to as positive self-review (PSR). PSR involves watching a video of oneself performing only the best examples of a desired task; this technique has been associated with improved performance and learning for people without disabilities and for those in various clinical populations, including children with spina bifida and stroke patients. PSR may have similar benefits for people living with CP. In this study we examined the effectiveness of PSR for improving a self-selected movement task among individuals living with CP. In this case study approach, eight participants completed a pre-, post-, and second post-test measuring and recording well-being, movement self-consciousness and tendency to consciously monitor movements. Results were mixed, with some participants improving their movement time, well-being ratings and tendency toward self-consciousness and conscious monitoring of movements and others showing no changes or regressions. The effectiveness of VSM appears to depend upon the match between type of task and disability and/or the length of practice. More study is needed.

Over time, performance measurement in government agencies has changed orientation, namely performance measurement, which is input-oriented (more specifically budget), shifting to performance measurement result-oriented. This study aims to evaluate the problems and factors that are involved. Affect the effectiveness of the implementation of the Accountability System Performance of Government Institutions (SAKIP) in the Tanah Bumbu Regency government. This study also explores the classification level of implementation and the leading performance indicators in SAKIP in the SKPD Tanah Bumbu Regency to determine the obstacles in implementing SAKIP. This research is a qualitative-quantitative study (mix method) using a case study approach. The approach used is a case study approach that focuses intensively on a particular object that studies it as a case. Meanwhile, the Likert scale's quantitative approach describes the urgency in the form of tables and percentages. The data strengthened by a qualitative narrative that adapts to identifying weaknesses based on quantitative analysis. The weaknesses found in this study cover all aspects, starting from understanding and elaborating the vision and mission and strategic plans of Tanah Bumbu Regency. Mapping of performance targets, a stipulation of performance planning documents, implementation of policies, programs and activities; performance evaluation, performance control, and improved performance.

Abstract While the capability approach is increasingly being adopted for evaluating well-being and social justice in the field of human development, this approach in disaster research has remained scarce. This research thus seeks to address the disaster risk that humans face through a lens of capabilities, with a focus on the lives of people with disabilities. A multi-case study approach was adopted and two rural communes in Vietnam were selected as study contexts. Data were collected using focus group discussions and interviews that involved people with disabilities, parents/caregivers of people with intellectual/psychosocial disabilities, and representatives from related organizations. It was found that people with disabilities are affected by disasters due to the lack of capabilities that they value in coping with disasters. A range of capabilities that people with disabilities value was revealed in the study sites, with many being valued not only in times of disasters but also in daily life. The findings also highlight that, to actualize their valued capabilities, people with disabilities need access not only to resources but also to the factors that enable them to convert the resources to their valued capabilities. In most cases, the limitations to the achievement of capabilities are related to the external environment.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide a profile of Rob Wright. Design/methodology/approach Using a case study approach, Rob gives a short account of his background and is then interviewed by Jerome. Findings Rob’s is an amazing account of surviving a harrowing upbringing, which fortunately few of us reading this piece will have had to endure. Research limitations/implications Rob’s story perfectly illustrates why first-person accounts are so powerful. It is hard to imagine a statistical paper having the same impact as this description of one person’s lived experience. Practical implications Suicide is the greatest danger for anyone with a long-term mental health problem. Rob has faced this decision many times and has courageously battled on. Social implications Rachel’s simple, yet profound mantra, of “someone to love, something to do, somewhere to live,” is vital for all of our well-being. As Rob also points out, you still need money to put into the electric meter! Originality/value Some people have tough upbringings and some have cruel upbringings. Rob had both. His survival is a testament to the uncrushable nature of the human spirit.

Since 1990s, the increase in housing price, housing loan application rejection and bankruptcy due to housing loan default, have highlighted the need for a better way of home financing. Islamic home financing that promotes social well-being is a suitable alternative. Malaysia is in the forefront of Islamic financing system development, and Islamic home financing including the Musharakah Mutanaqisah (MM) is being implemented. Nevertheless, the MM is implemented with Wa’d. This jeopardizes the true spirit of partnership in MM home financing. Why MM is implemented with Wa’d? Is MM without Wa’d not feasible? The main objective of the present study is to simulate the case of MM without Wa’d and evaluate its feasibility. Results revealed that it is feasible to implement MM without Wa’d. In addition, MM without Wa’d could reduce the probability of loan default and increases the affordability of homeownership

Teenager with diplegia cerebral palsy has poor ADL (Activity Daily Living) ability. This is due to that he doesn’t train his ability while at home because his family choose to give him full support by preparing all his needs. The goal of this researches is to change dependent behavior to more independent in his simple daily routine that related to optimum hand utilization and also ability to move independently. Researcher is using experimental method with case study approach. Researcher give behavioral therapy intervention (shaping) to improve level of independence of subject. Intervention was done in 5 session, including rapport, determined activity, activity training, intervention and evaluation. Intervention was done in 6 days doing observation and using target achievement activity checklist. Before intervention, subject always aided in daily living activity. After intervention, subject want and able to do simple daily activity such as eat, using and tidy up his clothes and also moved independently. An ethnographic case study approach to understanding women’s actions and reactions to husbands’ emigration—or potential emigration—offers a distinct set of challenges to a U.S.-based researcher.  International migration research in a foreign context likely offers challenges in language, culture, lifestyle, as well as potential gender norm impediments. A mixed methods approach contributed to successfully overcoming barriers through an array of research methods, strategies, and tactics, as well as practicing flexibility in data gathering methods. Even this researcher’s influence on the research was minimized and alleviated, to a degree, through ascertaining common ground with many of the women. Research with the women of San Juan Guelavía, Oaxaca, Mexico offered numerous and constant challenges, each overcome with ensuing rewards.
