This study aims to intervene in one of the adolescent patients with hebephrenic schizophrenia who are in RSJ Menur Surabaya. The Researcher gave an intervention in the form of behavioral therapy which is a positive reinforcement to be able to improve the ability of social interaction with others, dare to socialize with the environment or actively participate in groups. The intervention carried out eight meeting sessions. Each session has a different target according to indicators of social interaction. If the client is able to reach the target, the researcher gives an reward in the form of praise, food or activities (for example: drawing) that he likes. This therapy is believed to be able to increase the ability of social interaction. The method used in study is an experimental with a case study approach. Before the behavioral interventions that appear on the client are ideology of greatness, visual and auditory hallucinations, don’t want to communicate with others, like to be alone, lack confidence, and do not participate in group activities. After being given an intervention the client realizes his mind is only an imagination, no longer hears whispers, wants to communicate with others, and is active in a group. This study aims to intervene in children who are under the age category of toddlers with an attitude of independence in one kindergarten in Sampang, Madura. The method used in research is an experimental case study approach. Researchers provide interventions in the form of behavioral therapy, using Shaping techniques to bring up new behaviors that have not been displayed by children by providing reinforcement in every targeted behavior. This therapy can train children repeatedly with stages of modeling, imitating and taking the initiative to conduct targeted behavior interspersed with the reinforcement given. Children with this therapy will learn new behavioral patterns and learn slowly to apply and later become habitual behavior patterns. The independence formed by children here by maximizing limbs and moving the body to be able to themselves with simple class activities such as cursing shoes, taking and placing books, and taking the water they carry, which is usually through the teacher to fetch. The results of the application of shaping techniques for children are more learning and understanding that he must be independent at school and should not be accustomed to his behavior at home, even though the factors causing the independence are due to behavior patterns or treatment from his family (pampering).

Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a common physical disability that is managed with a variety of strategies. One non-invasive intervention for people living with CP is a type of video self-modelling (VSM) referred to as positive self-review (PSR). PSR involves watching a video of oneself performing only the best examples of a desired task; this technique has been associated with improved performance and learning for people without disabilities and for those in various clinical populations, including children with spina bifida and stroke patients. PSR may have similar benefits for people living with CP. In this study we examined the effectiveness of PSR for improving a self-selected movement task among individuals living with CP. In this case study approach, eight participants completed a pre-, post-, and second post-test measuring and recording well-being, movement self-consciousness and tendency to consciously monitor movements. Results were mixed, with some participants improving their movement time, well-being ratings and tendency toward self-consciousness and conscious monitoring of movements and others showing no changes or regressions. The effectiveness of VSM appears to depend upon the match between type of task and disability and/or the length of practice. More study is needed.

An ethnographic case study approach to understanding women’s actions and reactions to husbands’ emigration—or potential emigration—offers a distinct set of challenges to a U.S.-based researcher.  International migration research in a foreign context likely offers challenges in language, culture, lifestyle, as well as potential gender norm impediments. A mixed methods approach contributed to successfully overcoming barriers through an array of research methods, strategies, and tactics, as well as practicing flexibility in data gathering methods. Even this researcher’s influence on the research was minimized and alleviated, to a degree, through ascertaining common ground with many of the women. Research with the women of San Juan Guelavía, Oaxaca, Mexico offered numerous and constant challenges, each overcome with ensuing rewards.

Self-stigma experienced by people who experience schizophrenia has influence on reduced self-esteem, on powerlessness, the weakening of hope, and a motivation towards recovery. The aim of this study is to explain the efforts of people suffering schizophrenia to manage their self-stigma through self-control, using a case study approach. Based on the purposive sampling technique, five people with schizophrenia were selected as the cases to be studied. Data collection techniques utilized in-depth interviews, observation, and documentary studies. The analysis of the study data employed the stages of data reduction, data display, and data verification. Improvement in study quality employed the triangulation of data sources by checking the data to determine its consistency. The results of this study indicate that people with schizophrenia who have the ability to self-control can overcome self-stigma through changes in the manner of viewing themselves, self-training through activities, having endurance, having an honest approach, being able to explain schizophrenia from a positive viewpoint, having initiative, and having a positive attitude and the courage to face challenges.
