Event interpretation and acknowledgement drive behaviour and identity formation in organisations. Extant studies exploring this link have focused on large, stable organisations. We extend these studies to entrepreneurial contexts where individual behaviour and organisational identity are especially fluid. We analyse narratives of success and failure in entrepreneurial firms to identify and explore acknowledgement practice, which is the ad-hoc action (or inaction) of organisational actors and groups responding to observed events. We explore how uncertainty affects event interpretation and acknowledgement. Within entrepreneurial contexts, we show that event interpretation and acknowledgement biases influence responses to success and failure. The combination of these biases reveals four broad emergent organisational characteristics, which have important implications for organisational identity.

Los cambios sociales recientes han provocado que grupos culturales distintos hayan tenido que vivir juntos, surgiendo conflictos que podrían acarrear problemas muy graves de exclusión social o violencia. Se demanda una educación intercultural que asegure el desarrollo de identidades inclusivas para una convivencia pacífica y democrática. La escuela, los maestros y las lecciones de las ciencias sociales se vuelven particularmente relevantes en la formación identitaria de los futuros ciudadanos, sobre todo las destinadas a la Historia. Por lo tanto, es de suma importancia estudiar la identidad de los futuros docentes y la forma en que ven la enseñanza de la historia, para actuar durante su formación inicial y corregir los prejuicios que pueden ser perjudiciales para su futuro trabajo docente. Este artículo tiene como objetivo la validación de un cuestionario diseñado ad hoc para conocer esa información, a través de la aplicación de una prueba piloto a 23 alumnos de 1.er curso de Grado en Educación Primaria, el análisis de su fiabilidad y las pruebas de validez de contenido y de constructo. De los datos recogidos se obtuvo que el cuestionario ofrece un índice de validez de contenido IVCG= 0,96 y un valor de confiabilidad α= 0,914, datos elevados que ofrecen garantías a la hora de aplicar el cuestionario a muestras grandes de alumnado. Recent social changes have led different cultural groups to living together, arising conflicts that could result in very serious problems of social exclusion or violence. An intercultural education that assures the development of inclusive identities for a peaceful and democratic coexistence is demanded. The school, the teachers and the social sciences lessons become particularly relevant in future citizens' identity formation, especially those destined for History. Therefore, it is very important to study the future teachers' identity and the way they conceive the teaching of history, in order to act during their initial training and to correct prejudices that may be detrimental to their future teaching work. This article aims to validate a questionnaire designed ad hoc to know that information, through the application of a pilot test to 23 students in the 1st year of the Degree in Primary Education, the analysis of its reliability and the tests of content validity and construct validity. From the gathered data it was obtained that the questionnaire offers an index of content validity IVCG = 0.96 and a reliability value α = 0.914, high data that offer guarantees when applying the questionnaire to large samples of students.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to better understand the challenge of building and managing a favourable organisational reputation for social businesses in light of the complex relations between organisational identity, paradoxical tensions and organisational reputation.Design/Methodology/Approach: This paper combines deductive and inductive approaches. Deductively, the categorisation of Smith and Lewis (2011) was used to identify various types of paradoxical tensions in social businesses. An inductive bottom-up research strategy was also applied, collecting data from a 90-minute ‘open fishbowl’ with six managers and advisers of Israeli social businesses (and approximately 40 undergraduate and graduate students serving as ‘observers’), and 8 interviews with managers and communication professionals of social businesses.Findings: Managers of social businesses that are hybrid-identity organisations face a challenge when trying to build a consistent hybrid identity, thus managing reputation and paradoxical tensions using holistic and dynamic ‘both-and’ or ‘more-than’ approaches.Limitations: The small sample used in this study (an open fishbowl method consisting of only six participants, in addition to 8 interviews) doesn’t enable generalisability, and therefore should be seen as a benchmark for future studies that are larger and include additional methods. In addition, this study might well be culturally biased, because it takes place in only one country.Implications and Contribution: Referring to the theoretical model of Huang-Horowitz (2015) that stresses the importance of achieving consistency in identity in order for an organisation to succeed and have a favourable reputation, the findings reveal that social businesses experience a more complex process of identity formation when trying to build a consistent hybrid identity, using various holistic and dynamic approaches. From a practical perspective managers of hybrid-identity organisations might find it useful to explore how various holistic and dynamic approaches might help them to overcome internal and external paradoxical tensions and manage organisational reputation.

Zusammenfassung. Hintergrund: Die COVID-19-Pandemie ist eine Ausnahmesituation ohne Präzedenz und erforderte zahlreiche Ad-hoc-Anpassungen in den Strukturen und Prozessen der akutstationären Versorgung. Ziel: Ziel war es zu untersuchen, wie aus Sicht von Führungspersonen und Hygienefachkräften in der Pflege die stationäre Akutversorgung durch die Pandemiesituation beeinflusst wurde und welche Implikationen sich daraus für die Zukunft ergeben. Methoden: Qualitative Studie bestehend aus semistrukturierten Interviews mit fünf Verantwortlichen des leitenden Pflegemanagements und drei Hygienefachkräften in vier Krankenhäusern in Deutschland. Die Interviews wurden mittels qualitativer Inhaltsanalyse ausgewertet. Ergebnisse: Die Befragten beschrieben den auf die prioritäre Versorgung von COVID-19-Fällen hin umstrukturierten Klinikalltag. Herausforderungen waren Unsicherheit und Angst bei den Mitarbeiter_innen, relative Ressourcenknappheit von Material und Personal und die schnelle Umsetzung neuer Anforderungen an die Versorgungleistung. Dem wurde durch gezielte Kommunikation und Information, massive Anstrengungen zur Sicherung der Ressourcen und koordinierte Steuerung aller Prozesse durch bereichsübergreifende, interprofessionelle Task Forces begegnet. Schlussfolgerungen: Die in der COVID-19-Pandemie vorgenommenen Anpassungen zeigen Entwicklungspotenziale für die zukünftige Routineversorgung auf, z. B. könnten neue Arbeits- und Skill Mix-Modelle aufgegriffen werden. Für die Konkretisierung praktischer Implikationen sind vertiefende Analysen der Daten mit zeitlichem Abstand erforderlich.

Zusammenfassung. Der FEO, der in Kooperation mit betrieblichen Praktikern entwickelt wurde, dient der Erfassung des Organisationsklimas. Er umfasst 82 Items und bildet 12 Skalen ab. Eine Stärke des FEO im Gegensatz zu ad hoc entwickelten Befragungsinstrumenten sind die Vergleichsdaten, die für Profit- und Non-Profit-Organisationen bereit gestellt werden. Kritisch diskutiert wird die theoretische Verortung, die Anwenderfreundlichkeit sowie der Nutzen der individuellen Auswertung. Die konsensuale, konvergente, diskriminante und kriterienbezogene Validierung steht aus.

Summary: The two main sources of errors in educational and psychological evaluation are the lack of adequate technical and psychometric characteristics of the tests, and especially the failure to properly implement the testing process. The main goal of the present research is to study the situation of test construction and test use in the Spanish-speaking (Spain and Latin American countries) and Portuguese-speaking (Portugal and Brazil) countries. The data were collected using a questionnaire constructed by the European Federation of Professional Psychologists Association (EFPPA) Task Force on Tests and Testing, under the direction of D. Bartram . In addition to the questionnaire, other ad hoc data were also gathered. Four main areas of psychological testing were investigated: Educational, Clinical, Forensic and Work. Key persons were identified in each country in order to provide reliable information. The main results are presented, and some measures that could be taken in order to improve the current testing practices in the countries surveyed are discussed. As most of the tests used in these countries were originally developed in other cultures, a problem that appears to be especially relevant is the translation and adaptation of tests.
