In this paper, Al2O3/7075 composites were prepared by mechanical alloying with subsequent hot-pressing sintering, and the effect of Al2O3 nanoparticle on the mechanical and tribological behavior of 7075 was studied. The mechanical property results showed that the hardness and compressive strength of Al2O3/7075 composites first increased and then decreased with Al2O3 amount increasing, and 5 wt.% Al2O3 addition made the material exhibit excellent comprehensive mechanical properties. The tribological properties also indicated that 5 wt.% Al2O3 nanoparticle significantly improved the high-temperature wear resistance of 7075 alloys. Thus, all the mechanical and tribological results confirmed that the addition of Al2O3 nanoparticle was a better strengthening way for 7075 alloys at high temperatures.

Potential relations of tribological characteristics of aluminum antifriction alloys with their compositions and mechanical properties were investigated. In this regard, the properties of eight aluminum alloys containing tin from 5.4% to 11% doped with lead, copper, silicon, zinc, magnesium, and titanium were studied. Mechanical properties such as hardness, strength, relative extension, and impact strength were analyzed. Within the tribological tests seizure load and wear of material were evaluated and secondary structures were studied afterwards. The absence of a definitive correlation between tribological behavior and mechanical properties was shown. It was determined that doping tin over 6% is excessive. The seizure load of the alloys increases with the magnesium content. Secondary structures of the alloys with higher wear rates contain one order less magnesium and tin.

Incorporation of metallic elements, titanium and copper, into carbonaceous mesophase (CM) was performed through mechanical alloying in a ball mill apparatus. The structures of the raw CM as well as the Ti/Cu-added CM were characterized by X-ray diffraction. The tribological behavior of the Ti/Cu-added CM used as lubricating additives was investigated by using a high temperature friction and wear tester. The results show that, compared with the raw CM, the Ti/Cu-added CM exhibits a drop in the crystallinity and a transition to the amorphous. The Ti/Cu-added CM used as lubricating additive displays an obvious high temperature anti-friction and wear resistance effect, and the lager the applied load, the lower the friction coefficient and the wear severity.

At present, the research on the high temperature degradation of concrete usually focuses on only the degradation of concrete itself without considering the effect of the plastering layer. It is necessary to take into account the influence of the plastering layer on the high temperature degradation of concrete. With an increase in the water/cement ratio, the explosion of concrete disappeared. Although increasing the water/cement ratio can alleviate the cracking of concrete due to lower pressure, it leads to a decrease in the mechanical properties of concrete after heating. It is proved that besides the water/cement ratio, the apparent phenomena and mechanical properties of concrete at high temperature can be affected by the plastering layer. The plastering layer can relieve the high temperature cracking of concrete, and even inhibit the high temperature explosion of concrete with 0.30 water/cement ratio. By means of an XRD test, scanning electron microscope test and thermogravimetric analysis, it is found that the plastering layer can promote the rehydration of unhydrated cement particles of 0.30 water/cement ratio concrete at high temperature and then promote the mechanical properties of concrete at 400 °C. However, the plastering layer accelerated the thermal decomposition of C-S-H gel of concrete with a water/cement ratio of 0.40 at high temperature, and finally accelerate the decline of mechanical property of concrete. To conclude, the low water/cement ratio and plastering layer can delay the deterioration of concrete at high temperature.

The effect of diffusion high-temperature boroaluminizing (HBA) on the mechanical properties and quality parameters of the surface layer of stamp steels 5KhNM and 3Kh2V8F is shown. An analysis of the microstructure and composition of diffusion composite layers obtained as a result of thermal-chemical treatment (TCT) is presented and the distribution of microhardness in these layers is studied depending on the formed borides and carbides. The influence of processing temperature modes of on the parameters of roughness was experimentally established and the wear resistance characteristics of the processed surfaces of the investigated materials were determined.
