A prolific number of researchers have chosen to study metaphorical narratives, confirming their usefulness in educational research. The aim of this paper is to analyse the metaphorical expressions used by 68 principals from infant, primary and secondary schools in Alicante (Spain), concerning the way they see the figure of the principal and how it makes them feel. The data were processed using AQUAD 7. Results indicated a weak presence of characteristics related to social and contextual leader learning, as principals’ views tended more towards traditional models with duty predominating as a motivating force. Such views are usually associated with the experience of negative emotions. Findings highlighted the need to introduce an important cognitive and dispositional change in leadership education to ensure the development of professional skills aligned with current shared leadership models.

Teachers must innovatively bring the best out of learning situation, classroom space and available learning resources. However, very few and mostly not serious researches have been published on effects of seat arrangements on cognition, lesson delivery and classroom control. This article was aimed at highlighting the principles and clarify the context in which school proprietors and teachers (of both elementary and secondary schools) can choose or make innovations on three popular student seating arrangements: the traditional long rows,(with its variants, stadium, theatre , or angled row seats), the U-shape or horseshoe design and the paired module (two or three person per desk) row by column design. These are discussed: based on their original design principles, literature on their usage, the researcher’s students-centered experiments on their limitations. The arrangement of pair desk modules was shown to be the best in all situation, easy to readjust into pod-community like design and into u-shape when appropriate, given its flexibility, advantage in time before lesson, and with the optimum results.

The Impact

Few studies have examined the impact of emotions on cognitive (not only academic) performance among adolescents and this is the objective of our research. After ethic committee agreement andparents’ authorization, we asked 158 adolescents in secondary schools to respond to the French version of Differential Emotion Scale adapted for school context and to nineteensyllogisms which evaluated cognitive nonacademic performances. As results, we expected that negative emotions related to academic achievement would reduce performance in reasoning and positive emotions would improve it. Our hypotheses were partially validated. The impacts of the results as well as perspectives of future researches in relation with self-esteem, psychological disengagement, dropping out of school were discussed.

This chapter examines how pre-service teachers specializing in English Language Teaching (ELT) in secondary schools can learn to teach for Next-Generation Education by developing professional skills that are in line with today and tomorrow's technology-mediated environments. To face this challenge, some specific CALL-based ELT training combining action and reflection has recently been introduced in the Education Department at Paris-Sorbonne University. In order to examine the specific CALL-based ELT training offered in light of the set objective, its theoretical underpinnings will first be considered. The design and content of a CALL-based ELT course and of an online tutoring module will then be studied. The pre-service teachers' perception of this CALL-based ELT training will then be explored through the results of online surveys. Conclusions will be drawn from these results and future directions will be outlined.

By analyzing the characteristics of the new university of engineering students’ professional core competencies, students generally attach great importance to the personal and professional skills, they want to improve personal and professional core competencies, but lacking of a clear understanding and effective way to improve interpersonal skill and learning ability; they pay attention to enhance practical ability, but lacking of the development and innovation, so they hope to improve the ability based on the practice. According to the above features, this article presents the way to improve the professional core competencies.

Insecurity is undoubtedly a very big challenge in Nigeria today. The level of insecurity in Nigeria especially in Northern part of the country is unprecedented. The result is that to both the citizenry and the government national security has assumed a front burner position in the national discourse. With the lingering security challenges and the unending helplessness or indifference of the national security agencies as well as the government to contain the scourge, this paper seeks to examine the need for leadership education development as the way forward.
