Human resource management (HRM) has evolved over the years and is constantly adapting to the advanced technologies and research endeavours to address the complexities of the corporate environment and aspirations of the stakeholders. In this article, the authors explain the relevance of neuroscientific research for HRM practices. Interdisciplinary nature and landmarks of social neuroscience and newly evolved discipline of organisational cognitive neuroscience are discussed. The nexus of Neuro–HR has phenomenal research and application opportunities to progress and enhance the quality of HRM for effective organisations leading to a healthier society. A significant use of neuroscience in HRM appears to be an interesting journey full of opportunities and challenges ahead.

Contemporary healthcare systems face several challenges. The main management challenges include shortage and low satisfaction of health professionals. Satisfaction and motivation of medical staff is crucial for their stabilization and quality work-medical performance. The positive impact of HRM practices on increasing employee satisfaction and engagement is scientifically proven. Currently, HRM practices in healthcare are used in a limited way, often only at the level of HR or labour law and union bargaining. This is indicative of the low level of HR development. It is desirable to make full use of HRM practices in healthcare. The aim of this paper is to identify and define the challenges of human resource management in healthcare and explain the importance of implementing developed HRM practices to improve the quality of health care delivery. The research method used is a literature search. The investigation of the relationship between quality human resource management and healthcare delivery is considered important because the knowledge and competency to manage people are not necessary to hold a management position in most healthcare professions in Slovakia. In the world’s best hospitals, we find developed HRM with a positive impact on employee satisfaction and medical indicators.

This paper deals with the problem of poor service delivery in municipalities across South Africa – a problem that seems to elude a lasting solution. It assesses the extent to which perceived fairness in human resource management (HRM) practices affect service quality of selected municipalities in South Africa. Falling on organizational justice theory, it is posited that the HRM practices of municipalities could explain the poor service being delivered by municipalities in South Africa. Quantitative data collected from employees of nine randomly selected municipalities in the Free State Province was used to create indices for employee fairness perceptions of HRM practices as well as service quality as perceived by customers. From regression analysis, the results indicate that: employees perceive HRM practices as unfair; service delivery does not meet citizens’ expectations; and, statistically speaking, quality of service delivery is significantly and positively related to perceived fairness in HRM practices namely compensation (distributive); recruitment and Selection (procedural); and promotion (procedural) at the .05 and .01 levels of significance – meaning that fair HRM practices are important for quality service delivery.

Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk memenuhi kewajiban dosen untuk melakukan tridharma perguruan tinggi. Untuk itu sudah menjadi kewajiban bagi dosen berbagi pengetahuan dan wawasan melalui penyuluhan pengembangan manajemen sumber daya manusia agar senantiasa berupaya mencapai tujuan organisasi dengan efektif dan efisien. Dan juga bertujuan Karang Taruna Kampung serua poncol dapat menjalankan fungsi dan perannya secara optimal sehingga mendatangkan manfaat bagi Kampung serua poncol. Whether the apprentice is competent for the job and produces performance for the organization is the key index to test the quality of apprenticeship education. Based on competency theory, this paper investigates the influence of competency dimensions and work meaning on performance. Through the competency questionnaire analysis of 224 shop managers in apprentice project enterprises, it is found that: the part of the competency dimension of personality traits, motivation and values hidden in the iceberg model has a significant impact on performance through work meaning; the relationship between work values and work meaning of apprentices is stronger, and that the relationship between work motivation and work meaning of non-apprentices is stronger. Therefore, we should pay more attention to the cultivation of multiple values of apprenticeship, especially the significance of moral education. The results provide reference for upgrading the quality of talent training in Colleges, reconstructing talent training objectives and the practice of human resource management in enterprises.

New institutionalism increasingly informs work on comparative human resource management (HRM), downplaying power and how competing logics play out, and potentially providing an incomplete explanation of how and why ‘HRM’ and associated practices vary in different national contexts. We examine HRM in Pakistan’s banking industry and assess how managers’ espoused views of HRM practices reflect prevailing ones in dominant HRM models, and how they differ from early-career professionals’ perceptions of these practices. The cultural script of ‘seth’ (a neo-feudalist construction of authority) influences managers’ implementation of HRM policies and competes with the espoused HRM logic. We argue that managers will pursue a ‘seth’ logic when managing employees, as it reproduces existing power differentials within companies. By doing so, they render HRM unrecognizable from dominant models. Indeed, by using the term ‘HRM’, much of the existing, new institutionalism-influenced literature rationalizes a particular view of organizations and management that is inappropriate and analytically misleading in emerging economies.

Work and employment are important elements of every working person’s life. If an employee loses his or her job, he or she loses an important and determining part of his or her life. To reduce the negative effects that affect the quality of an employee’s life, outplacement programs were established as a part of sustainable human resource management. Sustainable human resource management emphasises the importance of employee care. Outplacement, for its part, includes support for employees at their last stage in the organization. The main aims of the paper are to present the research results focused on the perceived usefulness of outplacement programs for dismissed employees, to analyse the relationships between the emotions felt by redundancies and other employees as well as the comparison of differences in emotions felt by different generations of dismissed employees. A valid collection tool (research questionnaire) was developed for research purposes and distributed to employees of industrial enterprises in the Slovak Republic. Overall, the research set was composed of n = 692 employees from different generational groups. The research results proved the existence of a relationships between the emotions felt by redundancies and other employees and differences in emotions felt by employees from different generational groups.

Purpose – Taking an interdisciplinary approach, the purpose of this paper is to combine concepts from human resource management (HRM) and supply chain management (SCM) fields and explore the effects of high-involvement HRM practices on supply chain integration (SCI). Design/methodology/approach – Using empirical survey data collected from ten countries, the authors examine the specific effects of three dimensions of high-involvement HRM practices – employee skills, incentives and participation – on three types of SCI – internal integration, supplier and customer integration. The authors use structural equation modeling and the maximum-likelihood estimation method to test the proposed relationships. Findings – The results confirm the overall relevancy of HRM to SCI. However, several proposed links are not supported by the data collected. Originality/value – This study makes both theoretical and managerial contributions by empirically examining the interface between HRM and SCI. More specifically, it examines the effects of different high-involvement HRM practices on different types of SCI. The findings will not only help researchers to better understand the interface, but will also guide managers in adjusting HRM practices to achieve desired operational goals.

Objective - The study explores the relationships between human r esource management practices on employee retention in Malaysian industrial setting s . The human resource management practices such as selection, training and development, performance appraisal and reward were considered in this study as the main factors that impact the employee retention in an organization Methodology/Technique - All d ata used in th is study consist s of respondents of executives and managers in manufacturing companies located in Klang Valley, Malaysia. Data processing and statistical analyses were mainly carried out using SPSS. Reliability test was used to check the con sistency and dimensionality of the scale items. P e a rson Intercorrelation was used to measure the associations among the human resource practices and employee retention and Multiple Regression Analysis to check the criterion - related validity of the scale i tems and to complement the correlation results. Findings - Data from 151 respondents from various industries show ed that the reward was most correlated with employee retention. This is followed by performance appraisal, in which fair and inclusive appraisa l leads to better retention. On the contrary, selection was found to have least significance relationship with employee retention. Novelty - The contribution of the study is in asserting some findings for human resource manager to understand the importanc e of an effective HRM practices on employee retention in the manufacturing industry. Apart from that, this research provides an understanding of some important elements in human resource management practices that are more effective in employee retention.
