Decision-making support systems (DMSS) are computerbased information systems designed to support some or all phases of the decision-making process (Forgionne, Mora, Cervantes, & Kohli, 2000). There are decision support systems (DSS), executive information systems (EIS), and expert systems/knowledge-based systems (ES/KBS). Individual EIS, DSS, and ES/KBS, or pair-integrated combinations of these systems, have yielded substantial benefits in practice. DMSS evolution has presented unique challenges and opportunities for information system professionals. To gain further insights about the DMSS field, the original version of this article presented expert views regarding achievements, challenges, and opportunities, and examined the implications for research and practice (Forgionne, Mora, Gupta, & Gelman, 2005). This article updates the original version by offering recent research findings on the emerging area of intelligent decision-making support systems (IDMSS). The title has been changed to reflect the new content.

Conformance Checking (CC) techniques enable us to gives the deviation between modelled behavior and actual execution behavior. The majority of organizations have Process-Aware Information Systems for recording the insights of the system. They have the process model to show how the process will be executed. The key intention of Process Mining is to extracting facts from the event log and used them for analysis, ratification, improvement, and redesigning of a process. Researchers have proposed various CC techniques for specific applications and process models. This paper has a detailed study of key concepts and contributions of Process Mining. It also helps in achieving business goals. The current challenges and opportunities in Process Mining are also discussed. The survey is based on CC techniques proposed by researchers with key objectives like quality parameters, perspective, algorithm types, tools, and achievements.

AbstractThe aims are to examine the challenges and opportunities in the implementation of mental health information systems (MHIS) in developing countries as suggested by the World Health Organization (WHO) and explored by Gulbinat et al. (2008). Special recommendations for developing countries are: 1) MHIS should be linked to the general medical information system; 2) there is need for adoption, adaptation and validation of preferably self-administered instruments that are appropriate for different levels within the health care system; 3) developing countries must adopt innovative and “unconventional” approaches through utilization of community members, traditional doctors/healers and mid-cadre health workers, in addition to general doctors, for the delivery of mental health services.

A vast amount of scholarly journals are edited in Ibero-America, providing altogether a rich picture of the scientific production in this region. However, these journals have traditionally not been part of the international scientific mainstream. Different solutions have been sought to increase their access and visibility, using existing information systems and creating new ones tailored to the region's needs, as well as developing new electronic journals. An analysis of a sample of Latin American electronic journals highlights some features aimed at increasing their visibility. We also present the main features of 30 scientific Ibero-American online libraries and discuss their influence on editorial practices throughout the region. Some conclusions are drawn on the challenges and opportunities faced by journals as they seek to strengthen their presence on the international scene.
