A vast amount of scholarly journals are edited in Ibero-America, providing altogether a rich picture of the scientific production in this region. However, these journals have traditionally not been part of the international scientific mainstream. Different solutions have been sought to increase their access and visibility, using existing information systems and creating new ones tailored to the region's needs, as well as developing new electronic journals. An analysis of a sample of Latin American electronic journals highlights some features aimed at increasing their visibility. We also present the main features of 30 scientific Ibero-American online libraries and discuss their influence on editorial practices throughout the region. Some conclusions are drawn on the challenges and opportunities faced by journals as they seek to strengthen their presence on the international scene.

Women in Latin America present unique challenges and opportunities due to the family responsibilities they assume because of their gender role. The article focuses on examining the driving forces for Latin American entrepreneurship as empowerment and family support, and the restraining forces as their exclusion from males spheres, labor discrimination, lack of support, and families responsibilities from an intersectionality approach. The study includes the implications of how the entrepreneurial phenomenon develops in the context of women in Latin American. Studies of this type in this context being scarce. Likewise, an analysis of entrepreneurial femininity is carried out to identify the most appropriate Latin context. Equally, an analysis model is proposed that integrates these driving and restrictive forces. The methodology is qualitative, cross-sectional, integrates the case study, semi-structured in-depth interviews, and discourse interpretation. The conclusion presents the women barriers face in startup businesses and how their family responsibilities limit them, being the key support for their development, especially in Latin American when they face a macho atmosphere and a social representation associated with femininity (seems to be contrary to entrepreneurial spirit), the main role of women in the home, without economic support, with financial responsibility for taking care of their families, is shown as a cause for businesses not to grow.

Decision-making support systems (DMSS) are computerbased information systems designed to support some or all phases of the decision-making process (Forgionne, Mora, Cervantes, & Kohli, 2000). There are decision support systems (DSS), executive information systems (EIS), and expert systems/knowledge-based systems (ES/KBS). Individual EIS, DSS, and ES/KBS, or pair-integrated combinations of these systems, have yielded substantial benefits in practice. DMSS evolution has presented unique challenges and opportunities for information system professionals. To gain further insights about the DMSS field, the original version of this article presented expert views regarding achievements, challenges, and opportunities, and examined the implications for research and practice (Forgionne, Mora, Gupta, & Gelman, 2005). This article updates the original version by offering recent research findings on the emerging area of intelligent decision-making support systems (IDMSS). The title has been changed to reflect the new content.

We will analyze and comment on the book Health Diplomacy and Global Health: Latin American Perspectives, edited by Paulo Marchiori Buss and Sebastián Tobar and published by Editora Fiocruz. Throughout its 653 pages, the book brings prominent national and foreign authors in the field of Health Diplomacy and Global Health, depicting a decade in which Brazil had great international protagonism in the field of Public Health, especially in South-South cooperation, in an innovative and structuring manner. Furthermore, the chapters present theoretical aspects and basic principles of Global Health as a new field of knowledge, in which the country has been developing and sharing scientific production with a Latin American perspective, focused on the pursuit of equity and health for all peoples of the world.

Information Systems (IS) research continues to contribute to a long list of technology adoption factors from many studies conducted outside the Latin American (LAT) nations. These investigations fail to appropriate the context of IS adoption in LAT. This fail is mainly due to the geographical scope of existing studies. Those aimed at North America for example, are out of context regarding a diverse technological approach when applied to LAT. Further, uncertainty and an inability to predict outcomes of technology adoption, create variances in results because the local contexts are not considered. The reasons for this are unclear from existing studies. To detailed explore this problem further, a Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) was applied to LAT economies, expecting to assess a refined set of drivers from existing technology adoption studies. A Fuzzy Logic process was used to refine these drivers. The research found that fourteen themes are candidates for future study purposes. The drivers provide LAT stakeholders, as well as actors from other emerging economies, with a contextual frame that can be the basis for adopting technology more meaningfully within these nations

ABSTRACT Objectives: to identify the scientific production on the nursing consultation in oncology and analyze the methodologies used in these papers. Method: this is about a bibliographic study was conducted from May to June 2009, in articles published in the twenty-first century (2001-2009), by an electronic search in the database Latin American Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo) e Medical Literature On-Line (Medline). Met the inclusion criteria of six articles, which were analyzed and discussed according to the literature. Results: the methodological aspects prevailing were: four are research paper, one a report of experience and one convergent-care and all articles are qualitative. Concerning the characteristics of the populations studied, five investigated adult patients and one studied nurses. Regarding the subject of studies, were found three articles that addressed the implementation of nursing consultation, and the other evaluated each nursing consultation itself, its meaning for the patient and the significance for nurses. Conclusion: noticed that the number of publications related to the thematic nursing ambulatory consultation in the oncology practice in Brazil is very low. Descriptors: nursing; oncology; journal article; nursing care; technology; health education; radiotherapy.
