Spinal cord injury (SCI) is one of the leading causes of global disability. However, there are currently no effective clinical treatments for SCI. Repair of SCI is essential but poses great challenges. As a comprehensive treatment program combining biological scaffolds, seed cells and drugs or biological factors, tissue engineering has gradually replaced the single transplantation approach to become a focus of research that brings new opportunities for the clinical treatment of SCI.

Coal is the primary source of energy in China’s energy structure system. With the large-scale mining of mineral resources, a large amount of mine water will be produced in the process of development, construction, and production, which will pollute and damage the ecological environment of mine water. At present, China vigorously advocates coal revolution, implements low-carbon economy, and carries out clean production of energy development and utilization. Green mining, precision mining, and other strategic ideas have been applied to mine development to guide production practice. This paper does an in-depth analysis of the physical, chemical, biological, and environmental characteristics of mine water, puts forward the basic classification of mine water, and points out the characteristics of environmental hazards of mine water. Aiming at different types of mine water, such as mine wastewater, drainage water, goaf water, mine water with suspended solids, high salinity mine water, acid mine water, and mine water with special pollution, the paper puts forward the mine water treatment and resource utilization technology with different characteristics and strong pertinence. On this basis, the comprehensive treatment and development direction of mine water in the future are prospected.

Abstract Background This article reports a patient who survived severe pneumonia, pyopneumothorax with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and septic shock, which is very difficult to treat. Case presentation Antibiotics, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), bronchial lavage and other treatments were used to treat a patient with pneumonia, pyopneumothorax, severe ARDS and septic shock. After comprehensive treatment, the patient was successfully treated and survived for a long time. Conclusions There is a low successful clinical treatment rate for patients with pneumonia, pyopneumothorax with severe ARDS and septic shock. The successful treatment of this patient benefited from early and effective empirical therapy, targeted drug selection in the later stage, adequate closed thoracic drainage, repeated bronchial lavage, early CRRT, an appropriate respiratory support mode and parameter setting, immunotherapy and nutritional support therapy. This paper proposes a reference diagnosis and treatment solution for similar cases.

AbstractHepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common and most lethal malignant tumors in the world. Microvascular invasion (MVI) is a major risk factor for survival outcomes and intrahepatic metastasis after resection in patients with HCC. Relevant English literatures retrieved using PubMed on the research progress of MVI in patients with HCC were reviewed. For HCC patients, especially those with MVI, it is very important to develop a comprehensive and sequential treatment plan to support the long-term survival of patients. This manuscript reviewed and analyzed the risk factors for MVI; the preoperative prediction of MVI, which informs the selection of surgical strategies; and the current situation and future direction of comprehensive postoperative treatment strategies; to provide a basis for the comprehensive treatment of HCC patients with MVI. For HCC patients with MVI, the preoperative prediction of MVI may play a certain guiding role in planning procedures, and the comprehensive sequential postoperative pathological detection of HCC MVI may provide a basis for treatment decisions.

Hawthorn is a traditional Chinese medicine and has the effect of improving digestion and activating circulation to remove blood stasis. The present study indicates that extract of hawthorn leaf has the effects of lipid regulation, anti-myocardial ischemia, anti-atherosclerosis, cardiotonic and so on. Because of comprehensive treatment effects and less side effects, hawthorn leaves is becoming the research hotspot.

Atropine (atropinol) is a typical anticholinergic drug that competes for M receptors. Large doses of atropine can expand blood vessels, relieve small vasospasm, improve microcirculation as well as cardiovascular function, and inhibit thromboxane formation. It is an ideal drug for the treatment of septic shock that are worthy of clinical application. In recent years, studies have found that the main mechanisms of atropine's anti-infective shock include inhibiting calcium ion overload, improving microcirculation disorders, inhibiting thromboxane formation, reducing the release of inflammatory mediators, and inhibiting the release of glutamate. The research progress of the pharmacological effects and mechanisms of atropine in the treatment of septic shock is summarized, and it provides a basis for the in-depth study of atropine.

Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure (ACLF) is characterized by acute exacerbation of chronic hepatitis, organ failure, high mortality, and poor prognosis. At present, the clinical methods of treatment include comprehensive treatment with medicines, artificial liver system, and Orthotopic Liver Transplantation (OLT), and of these, OLT is considered the most effective treatment for ACLF. However, it is difficult for ACLF patients to benefit from OLT due to the shortage of liver donors, high cost, unpredictable postoperative complications, and long-term use of immunosuppressive drugs; therefore, it is important to explore a new treatment option. With the development of stem cell transplantation technology in recent years, several studies have shown that treatment of ACLF with Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) leads to higher survival rates, and has good tolerance and safety rates, thereby improving the liver function and quality of life of patients; it has also become one of the popular research topics in clinical trials. This paper summarizes the current clinical interventions and treatments of ACLF, including the clinical trials, therapeutic mechanisms, and research progress on MSC application in the treatment of ACLF. The problems and challenges of the development of MSC-based therapy in the future are also discussed.
