The common, or spectacled, caiman Caiman crocodilus is an abundant, widely distributed Neotropical crocodilian exhibiting notable morphological and molecular diversification. The species also accounts by far for the largest share of crocodilian hides on the global market, with the C. crocodilus hide trade alone valued at about US$86.5 million per year. We obtained 239,911,946 paired-end reads comprising approximately 72 G bases using IlluminaTM sequencing of tissue sampled from a single Caiman crocodilus individual. These reads were de-novo assembled and progressively aligned against the genomes of increasingly related crocodilians; liftoff was used to annotate the draft C. crocodilus genome assembly based on an Alligator mississipiensis (a confamilial species) annotation. The draft assembly has been submitted to the National Center for Biotechnology Information and both assembly and annotation are currently available for review at doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.4755063

ABSTRACT We report here the draft de novo genome assembly, transcriptome assembly, and annotation of the lichen-forming fungus Arthonia radiata (Pers.) Ach., the type species for Arthoniomycetes, a class of lichen-forming, lichenicolous, and saprobic Ascomycota. The genome was assembled using overlapping paired-end and mate pair libraries and sequenced on an Illumina HiSeq 2500 instrument.

ABSTRACT Here, we report the draft de novo genome sequence assembly of Fusarium tricinctum (strain T6), using IonTorrent sequencing chemistry and an Ion 530 chip ExT kit for sequencing. The genome assembly resulted in 42,732,204 bp from a total 6.62 Gb, with a median read length of 386 bp.

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Leifsonia xyli subsp. xyli strain gdw1, isolated from the stem of Badila sugarcane located at the Guangdong Key Laboratory for Crops Genetic Improvement (Guanzhou, China), that causes ratoon stunting disease of sugarcane. The de novo genome of Leifsonia xyli subsp. xyli was assembled with 48 scaffolds and a G+C content of 67.68%, and contained 2.6 Mb bp and 2,838 coding sequences.

ABSTRACT We report a de novo-assembled draft genome sequence of the Indian Staphylococcus aureus sequence type 88 (ST88) strain LVP-7, isolated from an ocular infection. The genome harbors a Panton-Valentine leukocidin phage, a type V staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec element, the delta-hemolysin-converting Newman phage ΦNM3, and the pathogenicity island SaPI3, encoding the superantigen enterotoxin B.

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Mesosutterella multiformis JCM 32464T, a new member of the family Sutterellaceae that was isolated from human feces. The genome assembly comprised 2,621,983 bp, with a G+C content of 56.9%. This genomic analysis will be useful for understanding the metabolic activities of this asaccharolytic bacterium.

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Streptococcus pneumoniae EF3030, a pediatric otitis media isolate active in biofilm assays of epithelial colonization. The final draft assembly included 2,209,198 bp; the annotation predicted 2,120 coding DNA sequences (CDSs), 4 complete rRNA operons, 58 tRNAs, 3 noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs), and 199 pseudogenes.

Rhizobium tropici SARCC-755 is a free-living soil bacterium that formed nodules on pigeonpea roots in the present study. However, the draft genome sequence reveals that this Rhizobium species contains the nolR gene but lacks the common nodulation (nodABC) genes and probably uses other pathways to induce nodules on the legume plant.

We report here the 4.092-Mb high-quality draft genome assembly of a newly isolated poly-γ-glutamic acid–producing strain,Bacillus subtilisIa1a. The genome sequence is considered a critical tool to facilitate the engineering of improved production strains. Exopolysaccharides and many industrially important enzymes can be produced by this new strain utilizing different carbon sources.
