The article addresses the main principles and methods of linguistic and cultural approach to reconstructing communicative stereotypes. The author shows the role of philosophical comparative studies in building a conceptual model of communicative stereotype, which makes it possible to define the content of cultural analysis in cross-cultural communication. The article proves the necessity to test their relevance in reference to historical facts in international relations. Studying the concept of ‘a border of constructive dialogues’, the author develops the idea further, introducing the term ‘a zone of transfer to irreversible destructiveness’.

Cross-cultural communication is communication between representatives of different cultures, regardless of what field they communicate in. Now, when the mixing of peoples, the interpenetration of languages and cultures, the migration of population flows have reached an unprecedented scale, the problem of coexistence in a multicultural space, the dialogue of cultures, the education of tolerance for foreign cultures, the awakening of interest and respect for them, the overcoming of xenophobia, racism, nationalism and chauvinism is more acute than ever. This is the reason for the general increase in attention to intercultural communication, the study of its linguistic, sociological, psycholinguistic and other aspects.To date, research in the field of intersubject communication has focused on the behavior of people who encounter differences in language activity and the consequences of these differences. Most often, intersubject communication is interpreted as an adequate mutual understanding of communication participants belonging to different national cultures. Cross-cultural communication skills are necessary for those whose professional activities are directly related to the interaction between cultures and are carried out through communication. These include education, socio-political, translation, management, consulting, social work, journalism, business, etc. In recent years, increased interest not only in scientific circles, but also among the general public has attracted the problem of tolerance education. The main reasons for increasing attention to this problem are globalization, migration and socio-economic problems. In these conditions, the priority task is to address the problem of fostering tolerance in the younger generation.

The textbook is intended for the courses "Spanish in International Relations", "Translation of Professional Texts", "Translation of Political-Social Texts", as well as for a wide range of students and readers interested in various issues of professional Spanish language.

In the framework of globalisation, the development of cross-cultural communication skills is of high interest. However, there is no due attention paid to the development of intercultural language competence in all universities as well as the possibility to share it directly with native interlocutors of the other culture. The objective of the article is to define the critical complexities in the area of cross-cultural communication among those who study a foreign language. Another objective is to elaborate recommendations that will enable the solution of the issues in the area of cross-cultural communication within up-to-date education. As a result, the researchers’ have organised and carried out the survey among 650 linguistic students of the 4th course from four largest Russian higher educational institutions (Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Higher School of Economics, Moscow State Institute of International Relations, and Moscow State University). The outcomes of the research  can be used in future as the basis for the development of cross-cultural communication for university students, which should have cross-cultural competence.

According to the Estonian State Integration Programme the system of education is considered to be one of the main areas of implementing the state integration policy. The main task of schools in Estonia is to support the feeling of belonging for permanent residents of the Estonian society by sharing common values and knowledge of the official language, and to create possibilities for understanding other cultures and establishing methods for cross-cultural communication with various ethnic groups. The purpose of the research is to study multicultural competence which is considered to be a key component of professional teacher education, as it is of interdisciplinary nature and comprises various aspects which contribute to the development of cognition, personality and professional activities. The research, conducted among students into the level of development of their multicultural competence, has revealed that Narva College students have a positive ethnic identity and quite a high degree of tolerance, which testifies to the positive attitude to their own and other cultures and students’ readiness for intercultural communication. To support the development of multicultural competence in students there has been devised a programme based on such educational components as the comprehensive knowledge of research methods and practices in multicultural education; formation of positive respectful attitude towards native and other cultures; development of skills to support culture-centred education and effective cross-cultural communication; and with inclusion of professional pedagogical activities being based on the humanistic approach and efficient pedagogical interaction. The research covers key points of how the principles of multilingual and multicultural education are realised in everyday teaching practices to achieve corresponding learning outcomes. Cross-cultural communication has many potential risks which occur due to errors in different spheres. In construction, interaction errors are dangerous as they can lead to serious undesirable consequences. Although there are many theoretical works on cross-cultural communication, the practical application of this knowledge is often difficult. This research is aimed to fill this gap by examining a case study with subsequent analysis of the mistakes made, evaluation of potential risks, and recommendations aimed at eliminating or at least reducing such risks. The study revealed that predominantly several errors are committed simultaneously, and by both parties on three levels: non-verbal, verbal communication, and in general behaviour. The findings indicate that possible risks can be significantly reduced or completely eliminated provided that the parties are able to competently navigate the situation. The suggested approach to studying cross-cultural communication can help people enhance the quality of interaction both in professional and interpersonal spheres.
