PurposeThe purpose of this study is to assess the relationship between incivility and two organizational and personal attitudes, namely, perceived ethical climate and perceived quality of work-life of nurses, in the framework of organizational climate.Design/methodology/approachQuantitative data of 148 nurses working in a medium-sized hospital in Israel were collected. Furthermore, qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 12 nurses and 14 doctors from the same hospital, constructing a mixed-method approach.FindingsFindings revealed that witnessing or experiencing incivility affected the nurses' perception of the ethical climate of their work unit and their perceived quality of their work-life. Additionally, we found that the relationship between incivility and nurses' perceived quality of work-life was partially mediated through their perceived ethical climate. The qualitative data supported some of the findings.Originality/valueThe article stretches the incivility theory beyond its dyadic boundaries, prominently showing the spillover effect of incivility as an organizational problem. Additionally, it offers some evidence-based support for the multidimensionality of incivility, strengthening the need for a construct cleanup.

The aim of this study is to examine the effect that the country of design and the country of manufacture has on the perceived quality of a product, and the role of involvement as a moderating variable. The conceptual framework has been tested using laboratory experiments that included a 2x2x2 between the subject’s factorial designs. Data have been collected using a randomization method to reduce any bias in the group’s variations. This data were analyzed using a one-way and two-way ANOVA. The results indicate that there is no difference between the high and low points of a product’s perceived quality, based on its country of design. Conversely, a favorable country of manufacture results in a higher perceived quality for its products, than for those of a lower scoring country of manufacture. Furthermore, consumers’ involvement, as a moderating variable, limits the strength of the country of design and the perceived quality’s relationship as this relationship is found to be stronger in circumstances where the consumers’ involvement is greater than in the less involved group’s condition. However, consumers’ involvement does not have any role as a moderating variable in the relationship between the country of manufacture and the perceived quality.

The objective of the study was to identify the relationship of different dimensions of perceived quality of home environment and self-concept of undergraduate university students. Correlational research was selected as the research design. The population of the study was university students of the education department of public and private universities of Lahore. The total population was 1760. A proportionate stratified random sampling technique was used to select the sample. The strata were formed on the basis of the nature of the universities. The total number of students selected as the sample was 528. The instrument consisted of three parts; the first part consisted of demographic information (gender, nature of institution). The second part consisted of the Home Environment Inventory, designed by Misra (1983) to measure the quality of the home environment and the third part consisted of the Self-Concept Scale by Rastogi (1979) to measure self-concept. Multiple regression analysis was used to determine the relationship between the variables. The results indicated a significant relationship between the home environment and the self-concept of university students.

This study attempts to investigate the factors underlying fluctuations in the purchase intentions of consumers towards selected green products specified herein as fast-moving consumer goods (FMCGs). A survey was conducted covering 500 respondents associated with four retail outlets selling green products and conventional products in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Factor analysis was first applied to the survey data to reduce the number of variables to be considered in the process of investigation without losing the significance of the explanatory power of variables. This led to the extraction of the maximum common variance from all variables. Simple regression analysis was then carried out to understand the relationship between the dependent variable (purchase intention) and the independent variables (brand consciousness, perceived quality of products, price sensitivity and product availability). The results show that brand consciousness, perceived quality of products, price sensitivity and product availability have significant effects on the purchase intention of consumers towards green products. The relative importance of the factors that affect consumers’ purchase intention has been analysed, and the practical and theoretical implications of the results of the study are also discussed.

What do couples’ activities and behaviors on Instagram reveal about the quality of their relationships? To answer this question, we surveyed couples ( N = 178) about their perceptions of their relationships and analyzed 3,270 of their recent Instagram posts. Actor and partner effects were found between relational quality and engagement with the relationship on Instagram (i.e., the number of couple pictures and partner-initiated likes and comments). There were also actor effects of attention to Instagram alternatives on the perceived quality and actual pursuit of alternative partners, as well as a partner effect on alternative quality. The findings contribute to extending the investment model to the digital age and have methodological implications for understanding relationship dynamics on visual social network sites.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this investigation was to study the relationship between perceived quality and expected quality of student’s perceptions from four educational institutions of Huamanga, Ayacucho. Correlational descriptive analyses and comparison of means were applied with the aim to determine if there was any relationship or any significant differences between the variables. Correlational analyses allowed identifying the processes or patterns in the world of perceptions about the relationship between variables and analysis of mean difference provided us with evidence of the overall assessment of the quality of education that is offered in these educational institutions. The study was conducted at two levels: the studies of a general nature which considered the four educational institutions and the disaggregated study on each educational institution. The sample consisted of 339 students, corresponding to four emblematic educational institutions of Huamanga, Ayacucho. The perceived quality and expected quality variables measuring instruments have a strong reliability and each of its items shows high internal consistency. Descriptively, the results show that for the 54% of students surveyed,  the perceived quality is less than or equal to the average, and for the 46% perceived quality is high or higher than the  expected quality ,, the perceptions of the  27.2% of students  about quality service received is  from  low to medium, while the 72.8% expected to be high or very high. In other words, more than half students perceived a lower quality or equal to the average and almost three-quarters expect a better quality than the one they are receiving. On the other hand, the evaluation of the overall quality of service (perceived quality minus expected quality) shows that for the 71% of students, the quality is deficient because they don’t get to perceive the quality they expect, while for the 29% the quality is good or excellent because they get an equal quality or exceed expectations. From the inferential point of view, it shows there’s a moderate correlation, positive and significant relationship between perceived and expected quality variables. However, the analysis by dividing the group in perceived quality variable ratings above and below the average shows that there’s no significant correlation between the two variables in the case of students who value below average. Instead, there’s a positive and significant correlation in the group of students who value above average. This fact has enormous implications for the processes of quality improvement. The mean difference among the variables is highly significant and greater value to the expected than the perceived. This implies that the educational service quality is significantly deficient.

Purpose – Although leaders and followers are both essential elements within the leadership process, there has been limited research regarding followers and their role in the process. The purpose of this paper is to answer specific calls for research in the studies of followership, leadership, and the follower/leader relationship through the examination of the relationship between followers’ perception of quality of relationship with their leaders and followers’ preferred leadership style from their leaders. Design/methodology/approach – The study utilized a quantitative, correlational approach using the LMX-7 questionnaire to measure followers’ perceived quality of relationship with their leader and the MLQ-5x to measure followers’ preferred leadership style from their leader. The test sample was 105 CPA's working in the USA for companies over 1,000 employees in size. Findings – The study determined positive, significant levels of relationship between follower's perceived quality of relationship and follower's preference for transformational leadership style. The study additionally determined that the level of preference for transactional leadership style, at the composite scale level, remained relatively consistent, regardless the quality of relationship. Research limitations/implications – Because of the specific characteristic of the chosen research sample, the research results may not be generalized across other populations. Recommendations for future studies across different samples are identified. Originality/value – This study is unique in that it adds to the body of knowledge of leadership studies through the perspective of the follower.
