The article describes intruder alarm systems, experimental testing of selected components of these systems, and examining the probability of intruder detection in a protected area. Component parameters are specified in the producer technical documentation (datasheets, service manuals) and they have to comply with European technical standards. Specifically, the article focuses on passive infrared motion detectors, which are among the most used components of intruder alarm systems. Experiments were carried out under the conditions specified in the European technical standards and also beyond these conditions. The experiments were performed in controlled measuring and testing laboratories. The results of the experiments can be used as a basis for improving the European technical standards, a proposal for their modification, and also for the evaluation of intruder alarm systems.

Abstract Increasing requirements for product quality, whether from the side of technical standards or customers, generate demands on the optimization of measurement and data evaluation processes, which include also dimensional characteristics. The paper deals with determining the volume of the tank of a railway wagon with ribbing. In practice, volume flow meters are usually used to measure the internal volumes of manufactured tanks, which measure the volume of water when filled with water. The method is not only time-consuming but also energy-consuming and generates a large amount of wastewater. Therefore, these obsolete methods are gradually being replaced by those that allow effective inspection of tank wagon dimensions according to the technical documentation. The topic of the paper is a description and verification of the design of a progressive method of determining the internal volume of the tank using a spatial 3D scanner Faro FocusS150 and software processing of measured data. At the same time, verification of compliance with the requirements for the accuracy of determining the internal volume of the tank is presented. The aforementioned methods are therefore compared in terms of accuracy, complexity and time consumption.

Animal behavior is an important aspect in the assessment of animal welfare. Passive infrared detectors (PID), detecting thermal changes to measure activity, have already been used to record data on the behavior of groups of animals. Within this study, the suitability of these detectors for the collection of activity profiles for focused areas is further investigated. The aim was to record the activity of a group of eleven fattening pigs in a pen, as well as the activity in the five functional areas for resting, feeding, drinking, exploration, and elimination. In order to evaluate the data obtained, the behavior was video recorded for visual assessment. In addition, relevant indoor environment parameters were recorded (ammonia, air temperature, and relative humidity). For the measurement of activity by PID, strong correlations from up to r = 0.87 (p < 0.01) could be found compared to visual assessment. The results indicate that activity changes during the day and activity in defined functional areas can be recorded using PIDs. These data combined with data of climate-related sensors could serve the farmer as a monitoring tool for early detection of behavioral changes or serve as partial aspect within a Weak Point Analysis within external on-farm consulting.

Activity of fast growing broiler chickens is known to decrease at two to three weeks of age, whereas slower growing hybrids are not only more active, but remain so throughout the growth period (Reiter and Bessei, 1998). The present experiment aimed to monitor diurnal patterns and time courses of activity in groups of commercial broilers fed one of two feed types differing in energy content. Activity was assessed using passive infrared detectors (PIDs), which sense movement of an object with a temperature different from that of the background.

The principle of work of modern passive infrared motion detectors of the known world manufacturers is considered; their peculiarities and fields of use are indicated. Both the typical structural and schematic diagrams are given. The basic parameters of modern passive infrared motion detectors and their boundary conditions have been determined based on the principle of operation of the detector and the synthetic processing of information from primary sources. The boundary conditions for the number of rays of the near middle and far zones of the pattern of motion detectors are given. Limit conditions for supply voltage, operating temperatures, and consumption currents in different operating modes are also given.

The list of goals for the implementation of the «regulatory guillotine» includes: the creation in the field of regulation of a new system of clear and readable requirements for business entities, removal of excessive administrative burden on business entities, reduction of risks of causing harm (damage) to the protected values using modern means and methods of the digital economy. The article is devoted to the issues of improving the work efficiency of the certified specialists of the accredited testing laboratories with the introduction of new regulatory legal acts that establish the requirements, conformity with which is subject to verification in the implementation of the state control (supervision). These documents are developed considering the risk-oriented approach and the current level of digital technological development. An electronic digital platform is created, which includes a specialized software application based on the Android and web interface. It contains personal accounts for the work of a specialist, administrator, and archivist of an accredited testing laboratory. The use of the Liftguru software in the preparation of technical documentation of an accredited testing laboratory based on the results of the elevator conformity assessment in accordance with the procedures provided for in GOST R 58973—2020 «Conformity assessment. Rules for registration of test reports», ensures an increase in the productivity of a specialist who directly performs research and measurements. It also allows to organize electronic document workflow with the presence of an electronic digital signature. The software received a certificate of state registration of the program for the preparation of technical documentation of an accredited testing laboratory based on the results of the elevator conformity assessment. The developers also received a certificate of conformity confirming the possibility of industrial use of the Liftguru software by the accredited testing laboratories.

Motion detectors are sensors that record movement in a certain area. This study proposes the evaluation of three motion detectors, using the Arduino microcontroller to execute orders to the sensors infrared, PIR (passive infrared sensor) and ultrasonic, to determine the obstacle detection behavior against different objects. According to the tests carried out and the theory presented for each sensor, we have found that the most efficient sensor for object detection is the PIR, due to its scope and viewing angle, which represents being feasible and more reliable to implement; for example, in security systems.
