Factors influencing the incidence of peristomal skin complications: evidence from a multinational survey on living with a stoma

Leakage of stomal effluents underneath the baseplate or inappropriate removal of stoma appliances can cause peristomal skin complications (PSCs), which are known to have many negative implications for people with a stoma. While numerous studies have examined the causes of PSCs, less is known about what drives the risk of a PSC developing. To address this gap in knowledge, the largest multinational survey to date was conducted, including 4235 people with a stoma on four continents and in 13 countries. The survey revealed that, besides leakage, other factors, such as age, gender, time since surgery and type of stoma, also drive the risk of PSCs. The survey also revealed that having a PSC resulted in greater use of stoma accessories and more frequent contact with health professionals, increasing overall healthcare costs. Collectively, the survey results reveal a need for more awareness on the risk factors for PSCs, which subsequently could have a positive effect on healthcare spending.

The present study seeks to present a mathematical interpretation of the perception of new entrants to the global payments market on whether FinTech’s innovations promote competitiveness in the market. The study also quantitatively evaluates the competitive trends observed in the global payments market. The sampling frame consists of 504 respondents across 28 countries. The study is based on the analysis of the survey results using SPSS Statistics and Stata. The survey addressed four groups of factors influencing the competitiveness of the payment system (i.e., ‘Costs’, ‘Service Channels’, ‘Privacy and Security’, ‘Quality and Efficiency’). The respondents believe that FinTech innovations have a strong positive effect on the payment system’s competitiveness (M = 4.32). The results of the present study may be of interest to specialists and researchers who deal with the competitive dynamics of the global payments business, with payment innovations, and with convergence and transformation of the payments industry.

This study applied SERVQUAL scale of Parasuraman et al to measure factors affecting customer satisfaction on service quality at Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank - An Giang Branch (Techcombank An Giang). The study was conducted to survey 207 customers who have been using the service at Techcombank An Giang. The survey results were analyzed by the Cronbach's Alpha reliability test method, then used Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) to verify and evaluate the scale of service quality. The results of the regression analysis show that customer's satisfaction about service quality at Techcombank An Giang includes four factors: The factor with the highest level is the Empathy with Beta = 0.253, the second of factor is the Responsibility with Beta = 0.248, ranked third in the influence level is the Tangible with Beta = 0.235, and the lowest impact level is the Reliability with Beta = 0.144. The research also uses statistical methods to describe and test the differences of demographic factors with customer's satisfactionon service quality.The analysis results show that there is no difference between customer's satisfaction on service quality and factors such as gender, age, income, number of transaction banks, regular transaction banks, and time to use the service at Techcombank An Giang. Through the research results, the author would like to propose some ideas to improve the quality of services, thereby attracting new customers and importantly, keeping traditional customers because the development orientation of Techcombank is to take care of old customers to cross sell other products of the bank. The Stud results offer a basis for the branch to identify the factors influencing customer satisfaction on their service quality, thereby having an appropriate strategy to improve customer satisfaction.

The purposes of this research are to identify the influence of travel cost, income, distance, access, facilities, natural beautiness, and age on the number of individual visits to Curug Silawe and to estimate the economic value of Curug Silawe through individual travel cost method. The population in this study are tourists that visited Curug Silawe with sample of 98 respondents taken by the quota accidental sampling technique. The data collection method used are literature study and questionnaire. The analysis tool used are OLS linear regression and economic value estimation. The results showed the variables that influence the number of individual visits to Curug Silawe are income, distance and age. Income and age has a positive effect. While distance has a negative effect. The economic value of Curug Silawe reached IDR 1,109,930,140.48 per year. This value is obtained from consumer surplus obtained per individual per year of IDR 308,656.88. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh biaya perjalanan, pendapatan, jarak, akses, fasilitas, keindahan alam, dan usia pada jumlah kunjungan individu ke Curug Silawe dan untuk memperkirakan nilai ekonomi Curug Silawe melalui metode biaya perjalanan individu . Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah wisatawan yang berkunjung ke Curug Silawe dengan sampel 98 responden yang diambil dengan teknik quota accidental sampling. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah studi literatur dan kuesioner. Alat analisis yang digunakan adalah regresi linear OLS dan estimasi nilai ekonomi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan variabel yang mempengaruhi jumlah kunjungan individu ke Curug Silawe adalah pendapatan, jarak dan usia. Penghasilan dan usia memiliki efek positif. Sedangkan jarak memiliki efek negatif. Nilai ekonomi Curug Silawe mencapai Rp1.109.930.140,48 per tahun. Nilai ini diperoleh dari surplus konsumen yang diperoleh per individu per tahun sebesar Rp308.656,88.

In health education and promotion, “risk factors” for disease gathered from epidemiological research form the basis from which the majority of recommendations to individuals for lifestyle change are made. Unfortunately, many health practitioners are unaware that this type of research was never intended to be applied to individuals. The result is ongoing public confusion and anxiety concerning health recommendations and a loss of credibility for health professionals. This article: 1) briefly reviews the most commonly encountered limitations inherent in epidemiological research; 2) explores the problems and potential negative consequences of incorrectly applying epidemiological research in health education and promotion; and 3) makes recommendations to help health practitioners more skillfully interpret and incorporate into their work findings from epidemiological research.

<p><em>This research aims to identify the factors influencing the audit quality of auditors at Inspektorat Provinsi Riau. The population in this research were auditor, examiner, assistant examiner, and P2UPD (Pengawas Penyelenggara Urusan Pemerintah di Daerah) in charge at the Inspectorate in Riau Province and all Inspectorates in Districts and Cities in Riau Province. A total of 290 set of questionnaire were sent and a number of 184 of questionnaires were processed. Using regression analysis conducted by SPSS, the hypotheses testing analysis results show that experience, responsiveness, professional care, executive involvement</em><em>t, planning</em><em> and auditability have significant and positive effect on audit quality. These results indicate that the higher the levels of experience, responsiveness, professional care, executive involvement and auditability of Inspectorate officials, the better the quality of audit performed by the Inspectorate Officials of Riau Province.</em></p>

Abstract Background Patient awareness surveys on polypharmacy have been reported previously, but no previous study has examined the effects of sending feedback to health professionals on reducing medication use. Our study aimed to conduct a patient survey to examine factors contributing to polypharmacy, feedback the results to health professionals, and analyze the resulting changes in the number of polypharmacy patients and prescribed medications. Methods After conducting a questionnaire survey of patients in Study 1, we provided its results to the healthcare professionals, and then surveyed the number of polypharmacy patients and oral medications using a before-after comparative study design in Study 2. In Study 1, we examined polypharmacy and its contributing factors by performing logistic regression analysis. In Study 2, we performed a t-test and a chi-square test. Results In the questionnaire survey, significant differences were found in the following 3 items: age (odds ratio (OR) = 3.14; 95% confidence interval (CI) = 2.01–4.91), number of medical institutions (OR = 2.34; 95%CI = 1.50–3.64), and patients’ difficulty with asking their doctors to deprescribe their medications (OR = 2.21; 95%CI = 1.25–3.90). After the feedback, the number of polypharmacy patients decreased from 175 to 159 individuals and the mean number of prescribed medications per patient decreased from 8.2 to 7.7 (p < 0.001, respectively). Conclusions Providing feedback to health professionals on polypharmacy survey results may lead to a decrease in the number of polypharmacy patients. Factors contributing to polypharmacy included age (75 years or older), the number of medical institutions (2 or more institutions), and patients’ difficulty with asking their physicians to deprescribe their medications. Feedback to health professionals reduced the percentage of polypharmacy patients and the number of prescribed medications. Trial registration UMIN.
