The present work investigates the effect of alumina addition on the thermal resistance of fly ash geopolymers. Fly ash geopolymers were synthesised by mixing fly ash with activator solution (A mixture of 12M sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate) at fly ash/activator ratio of 2.5 and sodium silicate/sodium hydroxide ratio of 2.5. The alumina (0, 2 and 4 wt %) was added as an additive. The geopolymers were cured at room temperature for 24 hours and 60°C for another 24 hours. After 28 days, the geopolymers was heated to elevated temperature (200 - 1000°C). For unexposed geopolymers, the addition of 2 wt % of alumina increased the compressive strength of fly ash geopolymers while the strength decreased when the content increased to 4 wt.%. The temperature-exposed geopolymers showed enhancement of strength at 200°C regardless of the alumina content. The strength reduced at higher temperature exposure (> 200°C). Despite the strength degradation at elevated temperature, the strength attained was relatively high in the range of 13 - 45 MPa up to 1000°C which adequately for application as structural materials.

A new high quality turbine system using monolithic silicon-nitride ceramic is under development. In this study particle impact tests of the silicon-nitride have been tried at room and elevated temperatures with and without tensile load, which simulates centrifugal force of blade rotation. In the experiment 1 mm diameter particle is impacted at velocities up to 900 m s−1. In this paper, critical velocities for bending fracture and Hertzian cracks are examined. Moreover, strength degradation at elevated temperature and spall fracture of the blade are discussed. The main results are: 1) The bending fracture mode critical impact velocity for soft particles is higher than that for hard particles. 2)The impact parameter ϕ for initiation of Hertzian cracks ranges 1.08×10−5 – 1.56×10−5 for the materials tested. 3)Strength degradation at elevated temperature was clearly observed. 4) In the impact tests on blades spall fracture, which was caused by interaction of stress waves, appeared.

Calibration is a technical activity which consists of the determination, the determination of one or more properties or characteristics of a product, process or service in accordance with a special procedure has been set. The purpose of which is to ensure the calibration measurement results in accordance with national and international standards. The tools used for the calibration of pressure Digital Pressure Meter. This tool is used to measure the pressure and suction pump spygnomanometer or other devices that use parameters for measuring pressure. This module manufacturing system using Arduino system as a controller and as processing analog data into digital data of the sensor MPX5100GP and MPXV4115V using analog signal conditioning circuit and displayed on the LCD Touchscreen with 2 modes of measurement that is positive pressure and vacuum pressure with pressures ranging from 0-300 mmHg for positive pressure and 0 –(-400)  mmHg to vacuum pressure. There are also  DHT22 sensor, As a detector for temperature and humidity for use in the work method in the calibration process. Based on a stress test generated and using comparators Digital Pressure Meter 2 plus brand fluke, this tool has an error value of 0 to 0.58% and has a value increment or correction value of 0 - 3. It can be concluded that the DPM DUA MODE this deserves to be used.
