Under the current market economy system, the market’s demand for application-oriented talents continues to increase, and the requirements for the comprehensive literacy and capabilities of talents are more stringent. In the new era, applied undergraduate colleges and universities must adapt to the changes in talent needs, and must do a good job of innovation in talent teaching management, optimizing the construction of curriculum teaching management mode, and promoting the realization of efficient talent training goals based on talent training goals and needs. Teaching is changing and it is being forced to change by many forces of social change. Today’s theory and practice of teaching in adult and higher education are not only shaped by technology, but also by prevalent teaching and learning theories such as constructivism, progressive principles of education, humanism and even behaviorism. While behaviorism, a major component of pedagogical teaching, successfully dominated adult and higher education in the past, the purpose of this chapter is to demonstrate that we are experiencing a paradigm shift from being pedagogical in our instruction to an andragogical mode of education in the 21st century due to the fact that we do know, to some extent, how students learn. Therefore, the way knowledge is delivered in the new century must be changed in order to serve the needs of this learning society.

Violation of discipline by students may have a direct impact on the school spirit and academic atmosphere construction of colleges and universities and is becoming a hot issue which is brought to public attention. Survey and analysis have been conducted on violation of discipline by students of Petroleum and Natural Gass Engineering College from such three aspects as type of discipline violation, type of punishment as well as education background of students being punished so as to better adapt to the student management work under new situation and timely and accurately grasp the trend of student discipline violation in current stage. The paper aims to analyze and explore the reasons of discipline violation by students of Petroleum and Natural Gass Engineering College and its inherent law through deep analysis on both subjective factors and objective factors leading to disciplinary offence. Corresponding precautionary measures and countermeasures have been put forward to reduce and even avoid the occurrence of disciplinary offence by students.
