In travelling on the roads, Most of our people might get accidents because of lack of road awareness and the traffic potential, also this unpredicted traffic leads to delay in the predicted travel duration. To avoid this kind of odd experiences, the proposed work focuses on the vehicle load characteristics in the available road paths traffic that is existing in the distance of 2-3 kilometers. The characteristics dealt here are vehicle load moving in the same direction as well as vehicle load moving in the opposite direction, danger zones, any wild turns, floods status on the road, group of animals crossing or on the road, any road works intimation, any bridges or flyover conditions, any situational areas like forests, high mountains, lack of public in the areas in the coming 2-3 kilometers in that road if it is two way path in the same road or separate paths infrastructure available. This is more secure because authorized users only will use this kind of facility where users are authorized by their Unique aadhar Number along with their family member details.

Abstract This paper presents reconfigurable hardware architecture for smart road traffic system based on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). The design can be reconfigured for different timing of the traffic signals according to the received and collected data read by the different sensors on the road; the design has been described using VHDL (VHSIC Hardware Description Language). The SRTM (Smart Road Traffic Management) System has some more features that help passenger to avoid traffic jamming by sending the collected information through web/mobile applications to find the best road between the start and destination points, which will be displayed on Google maps, at the same time it will also shows the points of traffic jamming on Google maps. SRTM system can also manage emergency vehicles such as ambulance and fire fighter and also can send snapshots and video streaming for different roads and junctions to show the points of traffic jamming. The design has been simulated and tested using ModelSim PE student edition 10.4. Spartan 3 FPGA starter kit from Xilinx has been used for implementing and testing the design in a hardware level.

Abstract This paper is intended to show that tire engineering is not concerned merely with improvement of quality, but also is concerned, on the part of engineers, with information on the friction phenomena in the boundary layer between the tire tread and the road surface. For a tire to have good abrasion properties, the resistance of the tread should be high and the work of friction should be as low as possible. Methods for measuring the work of friction are described, with some examples of influences which have control over it. While at the present stage of progress in technical developments, improvement of the resistance to abrasion of tire treads and in the design of treads is limited to small percentages, external conditions in service may increase the work of friction several fold. This accounts for common wide differences in the life of similar tires on the road. It is hoped that this paper may lead to further cooperative research on phenomena at the boundary surface between the surface of a tire and of the road. Such studies would be in the interest of the rubber industry, the automotive industry, and the consumer.

Recent development of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart Things provides an opportunity for the informationization for the automotive industry. This article describes Obstacle Detection and Alert System (ODAS) both incorporated as a single system for the obstacles such as speed breakers, barricades on the road using Internet of Things. Obstacle detection system uses in-built algorithm to detect an obstacle on the road using minimal vehicle parameters such as vehicle speed, steering angle. Obstacles locations thus marked by the detection system are stored locally and uploaded to cloud from time-to-time. Cloud server processes data from different vehicles and finalizes that there is a real obstacle at the particular location based on its own algorithm. Obstacles locations thus confirmed by the cloud server are downloaded to obstacle alert system from time-to-time, which alerts the driver about the obstacle on the road when the driver is nearing the location of the obstacle. This system also provides option to see obstacles location super-imposed on google maps so that user can plan his efficient route in advance. Existing systems only have road sign indications for obstacles such as speed breakers, barricades which the driver might not notice during driving, especially at night times. Existing google maps data do not have option to find road obstacles such as speed breakers, barricades information on it. The system aims to overcome these short-comings by a dedicated system which provides audible and visual alert about road obstacles.

The role of pedestrian and bicycle traffic in Poland has growing trend. The comprehensive traffic study, conducted in Gdansk in 2016, has confirmed the increase in the number of cyclists and their share in the modal split. Therefore, it is particularly important to ensure the safety of this group of unprotected road users. Only in 2015 on the roads of Gdansk occurred 93 accidents (excluding collisions) involving cyclists. As a result, 101 people were injured, including nine seriously and 3 people killed. The study aim was to identify risk factors for collisions involving cyclists based on data of accidents reported to the police. The following factors were analysed: the conditions for the drivers on the road (speed limits of, surface conditions), conditions for cyclists (cycling infrastructure, traffic management), external conditions (time of the year, time of the day, weather conditions), conditions organizational (type of intersection, traffic light) as well as the social aspects – the behaviour of all users.

Many researchers have studied the harvesting from discarded energy such as solar energy, wind and vibration because of the exhaustion of fossil fuel and the environmental pollution. Particularly, vibration-based energy harvesting has increasingly received an attention in last decade. Therefore, the aim of study is to analyze the characteristics of piezoelectric materials to be used in the energy conversion system on vehicle road. At first, the dynamic loads of vehicle on the road are measured with respect to the weight and speed prior to analyzing the characteristics of piezoelectric materials. Then, the energy conversion amount of piezoelectric element is quantified for its size and type under the load profiles. The vehicle dynamic load is the average of 200kgf. The result indicates that the dynamic vehicle load is less affected by the speed. The generated voltage is 1.8kV, and extracted energy is 0.11mJ from one under the load of 8kgf applied on piezoelectric element. The power extracted from one passenger vehicle is able to operate a sensor and transmit acquisition data.

Ukraine has completed a long period of transformation of its political regime. On the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of State sovereignty, a discussion of its outcome is envisaged. One can look back on the road travelled. For 30 years it has been determined by the continuation of nation-building and the search for the right integrationist vector. With the formal completion of the former and the uncertainty of the latter, the danger of a continuing transformational crisis emerged. The article is devoted to the analysis of its nature and possible ways out of it. The nature of the «second transformative crisis» in Ukraine ambivalent. It can be both a factor of destabilization and degradation and an indication of the path to exit, stabilization and growth. Much, if not all, will depend on the elite’s willingness to rise above personal and corporate interests and its ability to learn from its own experiences, to consider external conditions and to offer development goals that can consolidate society. In the opinion of the author, the Association Agreement with the EU, in the process of its further implementation, could become a basis for targeting and a tool for achieving the objectives set. If successful, Ukraine’s experience of nation-building in the context of globalization may prove useful to other newly independent Eastern European States.
