In shipping, which is one of the drivers of the world’s economy, many marine accidents continue to occur, such as ship collisions and grounding. To prevent marine collision accidents, there is a strong demand to improve seafarers’ skills through training. Therefore, practical and simulation training sessions are carried out. However, these cannot be considered sufficient because of cost and time constraints. Therefore, the authors proposed a training method in which a group of students set the situation themselves by adding restrictions on actual cases of ship handling for collision avoidance and then discuss and present it. In this training method, ship training instructor assessment and an anchoring experiment were carried out, both of which obtained good evaluations. The anchoring experiment showed a difference of up to 27.5% in the achievement rate between the proposed training and previous training. Regarding ship handling for collision avoidance, as much as a 45.5% difference in achievement rate was observed. These are considered to have the effect of encouraging active thinking by the proposed training method. In addition, the effect of considering the ship handling for collision avoidance for many situations can be thought. Furthermore, it was considered to be the effect of discussions in group work.

One aspect of life hit hard by the COVD-19 pandemic in 2020 was education in general and, in this case, actual ship training. The same is true for anchoring training, implemented annually as part of maritime training. Therefore, to conduct ship training effectively and briefly, this study advocates hybrid training, that is, shortened practical training combined with on demand video learning materials created and distributed to students in advance. Group work on ship handling planning that lasts for three to six hours is normally conducted annually in traditional classes. However, because of the pandemic, the allotted time for group work was reduced to approximately 1.5 hours. Therefore, in 2020, we conducted hybrid training, that is, anchoring training that included on demand video learning materials. Compared to students’ 66.3% average achievement rate in 2018 and 2019, the average in 2020 was 78.3%. ‘Anchoring procedure’ and ‘altering course’ items showed a particularly large gap in evaluation. The following were effects of hybrid training: (1) Videos that can be watched in advance can also be viewed repeatedly at one’s own pace. (2) The capacity to watch videos via smart phones provides students with better access. (3) As videos can be watched in advance, students become familiar with concepts before training, thus leading to better understanding of the training’s content and purpose. These results demonstrated hybrid training’s effect when practical training is combined with on demand materials.

A very significant number of marine accidents occur because of human errors. This study aimed to prevent ship collisions by identifying types of navigators’ errors. Based on Reason’s classification theory, the possible human errors are classified into skill-based slips (SBSs) (errors caused by the lack of skills), rule-based mistakes (RBMs) (errors caused by the misapplication of rules), and knowledge-based mistakes (KBMs) (errors caused by the lack of navigator’s knowledge). For this study, a scenario-based experiment using a ship-handling simulator was conducted with 50 recruited student navigators. The results revealed two primary human errors of accidents, namely lack of knowledge and misapplication of rules. The results suggest that a collision can be minimized when a navigator has sufficient knowledge of an appropriate course of action and a deep understanding of safety rules. Accidents cannot be prevented by identifying errors, but steps can be taken to narrow the knowledge gap. Based on the results, we proposed a simulation training on navigator error in an unfamiliar situation. The results are expected to reduce errors in the maritime sector using a human-centric work system.

Introduction: Educating students in a safe environment such as simulated centers can be effective in providing educational services and preparation for clinical work. Accordingly, the present study was conducted with the aim of designing, implementing and evaluating clinical pharmacology simulation training method for nursing students. Methods: This study was performed in 2019-2021 in three main phases of design, implementation and evaluation of Pharmaceutical Skills Center in Clinical Skills Center of Tehran School of Nursing and Midwifery. First, the design phase was accomplished by preparing the space and the desired drugs. Due to the prevalence of Covid-19 disease, part of the implementation and evaluation phase was carried out in the virtual context. Before and after the internship, students' knowledge, skills, satisfaction and clinical reasoning were measured using relevant questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and analytical statistics. Result: The mean scores of the three variables in terms of pharmacology knowledge, drug calculation skills and clinical reasoning of pharmacology of nursing students before and after the internship were examined. The results demonstrated that all three means were significantly improved compared to that of before the intervention (P <0.001 and P = 0.001). The mean of total students' satisfaction with pharmacology internship course turned out to be 30.57 (3.2), which indicated the relative satisfaction with the training course. Conclusion: In general, the results of the study indicated an improvement at the level of pharmacological knowledge, clinical reasoning of pharmacology and a significant improvement in pharmacological skills. Despite the limitations of Covid 19, this training method seems to augment the performance of nursing students in pharmacology.

At present, the ship manoeuvring Simulator in navigational teaching and training not only from the international shipping industry is generally acceptable, but also highly valued by the International Maritime Organization. Therefore, growing on ship manoeuvring Simulator in navigational teaching research on the application and training of the crew, ship maneuvering simulator training more rational, more realistic, more standardized.

Abstract Collision-avoidance is a safety-critical requirement to operate UAVs in non-segregated airspaces. In case of communication problems between a UAV and the corresponding pilot-in-command, a technology is required onboard the UAV to implement a capability to detect and avoid collision-hazards even autonomously. After an introduction to the problem of developing a so-called sense-and-avoid system and its avoid-function, this work presents a solution in terms of algorithms to implement the above capability. To detect and resolve potential mid-air conflicts, a geometric deterministic approach has been utilised: an intruder is modeled trough a moving-ellipsoid and a four-dimensional approach in the time-space domain provides the solution. The approach makes use of kinematics information to detect potential conflicts and to provide actions for conflict resolution, such as speed-changes in intensity and/or direction. The proposed solution also enables the UAV to meet the applicable vertical and horizontal minima of separation and to comply with real-time constraints.

This paper introduces the basic concepts and characteristics of virtual reality technology briefly and analyzes the defects of the artificial guiding teaching of the current live working from the angle of skills and safety, combing the power grid’s physical characteristics and virtual reality techniques. By summing up the transmission live working running operating procedures, the methods and means of using virtual reality technology in the teaching and training of the transmission network for live working are proposed. Summary transmission live working training status and analyze the application prospect of the virtual reality technology in the power transmission network live working on the basis of summarizing the power transmission network live working training status. The transmission live working simulation training method brings a new look to the power companies and also does great benefit for the enhancement of the operators' skill level and the improvement of their security awareness of operating.

For resolving the obscurity and complexity problem of equipment fault diagnosis training, gave out a fault diagnosis simulation training method. Based on the fault tree theory, the method can create the training simulative scenes, by building up the mapping between the fault tree node and the simulative scenes node. With the training subject and complexity requirement, this method can control the randomness and complexity of the training sample, the simulative scenes also can improve the training effect. And the fuzzy reasoning result assessment method can give out the proper training mark.

An online survey about the use of small groups by school counselors was completed by 802 members of the American School Counseling Association. The vast majority of respondents offered groups in their schools, but were most influenced in that decision by time constraints. Qualitative analysis of comment data provided more depth and insight about school counselors’ practice of group work. Implications and recommendations are discussed.
