At the core of the Czech education system and rehabilitation for people with multiple disabilities to the assumption that this is a group that requires a specialized approach to this issue. The main purpose of the text is to present the organization of education of people with multiple disability in the Czech Republic. Education and rehabilitation with the participation of people with multiple disabilities encourages to undertake research related to the dynamics of changes as well as their size. This work is an attempt to show how various factors have shaped the current form of education of people with multiple disability in the Czech Republic.

Since the mid-1990s, in the Czech Republic, the issue of educating people with multiple disabilities has been increasingly addressed. The main purpose of this study is to characterise the approach to education of persons with multiple disabilities in the Czech Republic. The article contains interpretations of the concept of multiple disabilities, both in the Czech literature and in international literature, with particular emphasis on the Czech approach.

This paper concentrates on the area of special educational support provided to individuals living in homes for people with disabilities in the Czech Republic and presents partial research results illustrating the state of the provision of speech therapy to users of social services facilities falling under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. The subject of the research is an analysis of support for the development of the communication skills of pupils living in social services facilities. The partial results of the research outline the approaches employed by the managerial staff of the given facilities in implementing special educational procedures, describe forms of speech therapy provision in homes for people with disabilities, and compare the attitudes of teachers and social services staff to the development of communication with the importance attributed to it by speech therapists and demonstrated by the case studies performed.

Abstract The article presents the results of the survey on the preferences of disabled people in wheelchairs for selected features recreational trails in the woods. The study was conducted in 2015, including a sample of 130 people older than 18 years, in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia (52 interviews in Poland, 21 in the Czech Republic and 57 in Slovakia). Respondents were interviewed both at the premises of the organisation as well as by email. The questions in the survey were designed to determine the preferences of the respondents in terms of recreational trails in the forests concerned: the optimal length of the route, recreational and educational points along the distribution routes of and usability of different types of forest roads. The results show that there is quite a lot of differences between the preferences of respondents from each of the analysed countries. Respondents from the Poland and Slovakia prefer shorter routes for recreation in forests, with a greater incidence of recreational and educational points along the route, whilst respondents in the Czech Republic prefer far longer routes, with a relatively larger distance between recreational points. In all the analysed countries, people with disabilities attributed highest usefulness to asphalt surfaces, concrete surfaces or surfaces made of cobblestones. The surface evaluated lowest for usability was made of wood.


This chapter examines the role of education in political socialization – particularly whether people politically socialized under communism truly understand democracy and its principles. Education policy in the Czech Republic and Hungary is examined, along with how the education system worked under communism. Specific attention is paid to how socioeconomics and party loyalty affected people's educational opportunities. The role of more informal education such as participation in the pioneers program is also examined. It is concluded that civic education is vital for a country to be a fully functioning democracy.

: The presented paper deals with the mutual cooperation of secondary vocational schools and enterprises within the framework of the dual education system, respectively of the social partnership in the conditions of Czech Republic and Slovakia. It has a theoretically - empirical character. In the theoretical part we focused on defining the terms we work with and the empirical part focuses on the questionnaire survey, in which we find out the views of pupils, teachers and enterprise representatives on the real possibilities and possible benefits of cooperation between schools and business sector. In the framework of the questionnaire survey we focused on the Zlín region in the Czech Republic and the Žilina region in Slovakia, while the selection of the area was random. Using two self-designed questionnaires, we found out what pupils, teachers and enterprise representatives consider to be beneficial for the cooperation and what is necessary to be improved. Based on the findings, we have drawn conclusions and suggested measures to improve the current situation. We found that the social partnership in the Czech Republic is at a higher level and more secondary vocational schools are involved than the dual education system in Slovakia.
