The popularity of the supply chain concept emanates because of quality management. Quality management practices in supply chain contribute to quality offerings, overall firm performance, cost reduction and ultimately for competitive advantage. The paper empirically and analytically investigates the relationship between total quality management and supply chain performance. The primary data for the study were collected from 44 managers of small manufacturing firms, 74 wholesalers and 120 retailers in district Udhampur of J&K State. The data after purification & validation through factor analysis were subjected to multivariate tools. The results of Chisquare test, hierarchal regression model and correlation matrix revealed positive association between total quality management & supply chain operational efficiency, overall supply chain performance as predictor of quality management and existence of direct relationship between TQM and supply chain performance. The study emphasized that proper implementation of TQM programs could play a major role in developing an integrated organisation through teamwork, cordial relationship, training & education, cultural change and customer focus across the supply chain.

The aim of this study is to integrate total quality management (TQM) and knowledge management (KM) into a unified framework to study supply chain learning among partnering firms. The impacts of TQM practices (e.g. leadership, strategic planning, customer focus, information analysis, people management and process management) and KM practices including KM process, leadership in KM, KM culture, KM technology and KM measurement on supply chain learning were examined. In this study, mail questionnaire have been sent to the managers consists of the Malaysian manufacturing and service firms. A total of 202 firms participated in this study. While greater level of TQM practices tends to enhance KM practices, we found that both TQM and KM are significantly positively related to supply chain learning. The findings of this study empirically tested and confirmed the proposed integrated model. It is hoped that findings from this paper can provide greater understanding in the areas of quality and knowledge management, and illustrate how these practices can enrich the supply chain learning among partnering firms.
