The article discusses devices for fixing sheet metal blanks from PCM: a perforated vacuum table, its design features, advantages and disadvantages. Based on these data, the upper part of the vacuum table was made for cutting samples for Iosipescu tests and dielectric tests. The article describes various types of tools for PCM processing and an experiment on the wear resistance of a diamond-like coated rasp cutter when milling carbon fiber reinforced plastic, carried out by foreign researchers.

The wear-resistance performance of machined surface is an important factor in the evaluation of surface quality and precision in aerospace manufacturing industry. By using high-speed Ring-Block friction and wear machine (MRH-3), the influence of cutting parameters in milling aluminum alloy 7050-T7451 on wear-resistance of machined surface including friction coefficient and wear quantity are experimentally investigated. The wear-resistance is particularly sensitive to cutting speed and feed rate. The friction coefficient has marked drop trends as cutting speed increases. The influence of cutting speed on wear quantity is more complicated and the tendency of wear quantity was ascend in first and descend at last (v>900/min). The results show that the influence of cutting parameters on wear-resistance was also positively correlated with surface roughness and work-hardening of machined surface. The high work-hardening and surface quality had the promoting effecting on wear-resistance. The experiment and analysis results show that the machined surface by high speed cutting and lower feed rate has more superior in surface quality and wear-resistance performance comparing with conventional cutting speed.

Newer sheet alloys (such as Al, Mg, and advanced high strength steels) are considered for automotive body panels and structural parts to achieve lightweight construction. However, in addition to issues with their limited formability and high springback, tribological conditions due to increased surface hardness and higher work hardening effect necessitate the use of improved alternative die materials, coatings, lubricants to minimize the wear-related issues in stamping of such lightweight materials. This study aims to investigate and compare the wear performances of seven (7) different die materials (AISI D2, Vanadis 4, Vancron 40, K340 ISODUR, Caldie, Carmo, 0050A) using a newly developed wear testing method and device. We used DP600 sheets in the tests. Our results showed that almost all of the recently developed specially-alloyed die materials demonstrated higher wear resistance performance when compared with the performance of AISI D2 die material.
