Forensic psychiatry derives the ethics of the subspecialty from a review of its historical evolution. From its early origins in community psychiatry to its contemporary applications in cultural narrative and human rights, forensic ethics has come to recognize multiple perspectives in its theory and practice. Tools like narrative, cultural assessment, and self-reflection now characterize a professional ethics that adopts an integrative approach to the intersection of two very different value systems, those of Law and Medicine. As practitioners recognize the vulnerability of persons and values caught at this junction, innovative thinking about social justice and human rights enhances the ethical understanding of the profession’s goals and purpose.

This book opens a cross-regional dialogue and shifts the Eurocentric discussion on diversity and integration to a more inclusive engagement with South America in private international law issues. This critical exchange is based on a conversation between the authors which took place during the Irish University Review Roundtable Discussion: Displacing the Canon (2019 IASIL Conference, Trinity College Dublin). As authors we give first-hand accounts of our experience writing, editing, and teaching in Ireland, attempting to draw out concerns we have for the future of Irish literature and Irish Studies that specifically relate to race. The conversation here suggests that race directly impacts what we consider valuable in our literary culture. We both insist on decentring universalism as a governing literary critical concept and insist on the urgent application of critical race analysis to the construction of literary value systems in Ireland.

Child sexual abuse is a social and health issue that affects citizens across the globe. It has a number of physical, psychological and emotional consequences. Children are reluctant to talk about their involvement in sexual abuse owing to various reasons. Therefore, forensic interviewers need to understand the process of disclosure when conducting forensic assessments. They also need to be watchful of various dynamics that are likely to have an impact on the disclosure rate. The aim of this study was to describe the dynamics during forensic assessments in the context of the black South African child when disclosing child sexual abuse. A descriptive design using stratified random, purposive and convenient sampling techniques to select the participants was employed, resulting in 14 participants (13 were females and only one was male). The data were collected by means of semi-structured in-depth interviews and were thematically analysed using the Nvivo program. The findings reveal that personal characteristics of the child and the interviewer, their communication abilities, blind assessments and informed allegation interviews have an impact on forensic assessments of black South African children. It is concluded that the dynamics of disclosing child sexual abuse during forensic assessments in terms of the variables of the study are not unique, except in terms of sociocultural value systems, beliefs and customs. As a result, it is recommended that the forensic interviewers come to the developmental level of the child, speak his/her language or use translators for him/her to understand, and to follow blind assessments interviews as opposed to informed allegation interviews. However, informed allegations interviews are recommended when assessing very young children.

If the development of technology, means of communication, and rapid transportation have made continents closer and made the world a small village, the outcome of the ensuing encounters among cultures and civilizations is far from being a mere success. Within this new reality Muslims, whether they live in majority or minority contexts, face multiple challenges in terms of relating to non-Muslim cultures and traditions. One of these areas is the status of women and gender equality. Ali Mazrui was one of the few Muslim intellectuals to be deeply interested in this issue. His dual belonging, as an African and as a westerner, enable him to understand such issues arising from the economic, political, and ethical contrasts between the West and Islam. This work pays tribute to this exceptional intellectual’s contribution toward the rapprochement between the western and the Islamic value systems, illustrating how he managed to create a “virtual” space for meeting and living together between two worlds that remain different yet dependent upon each other.

The presented study examines the value and motivational aspects of employee personality in the monetary and financial sector in 2017–2019.Aim. The study aims to perform a sociological analysis of value and motivational aspects and to substantiate their regulatory role in improving employee performance in the monetary and financial sector.Tasks. Based on the proposed methodology for the diagnostics of the value and motivational aspects of employee personality in the monetary and financial sector, the author performs an empirical analysis of the professional activity of different employee categories, identifies the major orientations and preferences, and develops a five-step plan to improve employee motivation in professional activity.Methods. The theoretical and methodological basis of this study includes findings of Russian and foreign authors in the field of value systems, motives, personal priorities, their formation, dynamics, and impact on individual and social development.Results. The study determines the essence of value and motivational aspects; develops a refined methodology for the diagnostics of the value and motivational aspects of employee personality in the monetary and financial sector; performs a comparative analysis of value and motivational aspects, including detection of statistically significant differences depending on employee affiliation with professional qualification and status groups; identifies patterns in the dynamics of the value-semantic space of monetary and financial organizations in the field of social and labor relations.Conclusions. The main conclusion to be drawn from this study is that the structure of value and motivational aspects, which are an attribute of the quality and performance of employee labor in the monetary and financial sector, differs significantly depending on employee affiliation with a certain status or professional qualification group. Analysis, modeling, and monitoring of the value and motivational aspects that characterize certain social and professional roles, interpretation of this information and its application in the regulation of social and labor relations are the crucial componentsof management of labor quality and organizational performance.

Today, six out of ten Americans describe themselves as "active" environmentalists or as "sympathetic" to the movement's concerns. The movement, in turn, reflects this millions-strong support in its diversity, encompassing a wide spectrum of causes, groups, and sometimes conflicting special interests. For far-sighted activists and policy makers, the question is how this diversity affects the ability to achieve key goals in the battle against pollution, erosion, and out-of-control growth.
