ABSTRACT Volcanic activity is ultimately controlled by processes that take place many kilometers beneath the surface of a planet. The deeper processes are unlikely to reach the surface without some degree of modification at shallower levels. Nevertheless, traces of those deeper processes may still be found when examining the final products at the surface. In this work, it is shown that it is possible to gain insights concerning the integrated contribution of deep structures through the study of the spatial distribution of volcanic vents at the surface. The method here described relies on the systematic use of increasing smoothing factors in Gaussian kernel estimations. The sequences of probability density functions thus generated are equivalent to images obtained with an increasing wavelength, which therefore have the power to penetrate deeper below the surface. Although the resolution of this method is much smaller than the resolution provided by seismic or other geophysical surveys, it has the advantages of ease of implementation, extremely low cost, and remote application. Thus, the reported method has great value as a first-order exploration tool to investigate the deep structure of a planet, and it can make important contributions to our understanding of the volcano-tectonic relationship, not only on Earth, but also across the various bodies of the solar system where volcanic activity has been documented.

This study was intended to describe (1) the characteristics of the argument bar movement in relative clauses, (2) the characteristics of the relative clause structure, and (3) the suitability of the relative clause structure produced by BIPA students. This research was a qualitative descriptive case study. This research data were relative clauses sourced from BIPA students' speeches at the beginner and intermediate levels at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The data collection method used was the listening method with tapping, recording, note-taking, and hidden fishing techniques. Data analysis was carried out by identifying the predication-argument relationship with theta theory, identifying the deep structure and surface structure, analyzing movement objectives, movement traces, and movement consequences by utilizing the subjacency condition theory. The results showed that the characteristics of the argument bar movement in the relative clauses generated by 92% of BIPA students were in the form of short movements and did not exceed one bounding node. Based on the Indonesian language rules, most of the relative clauses produced by BIPA students were appropriate (75%). It shows that BIPA students have fully understood the relative clause structure.

This article discusses the poem "Sajak Pertemuan Mahasiswa" by W.S. Rendra. The discussion of this poem is motivated by efforts and efforts to apply the concept of poetry structure put forward by Lévi-Strauss. The description of the structure of this poem aims to display the structure of the poem consisting of the outer structure (surface structure) and the inner structure (deep structure). The outer structures that will be discussed are forms of text, diction, and sound, while the inner structures that will be discussed are imagery, compounds, and themes. The method used in this study is descriptive of analytics with a type of qualitative research, namely placing the text of poetry as the object and research data. Data collection techniques are done by identifying, classifying, and recording. Data anlysis is done by meaning direct and directed content. Analysis is done by discussing the structure of poetry consisting of text, diction, and sound, imagery, compounds, and themes. The results showed that the structure of Lévi-Strauss poetry can determine the overall meaning and message of poetry. The use of blank verse, simple diction, dominance of vocal sounds /a/, thought imagery, and metaphorical-rhetorical majas refers to the theme of "openness". This theme can be interpreted very broadly, namely openness to justice, education, employment, income, and livelihood. This openness is tried by students as agents of change and a bridge between the government and the people.

In order to study the deep structure of the southwestern Ukrainian Carpathians, where the Carpathian conductivity anomaly is located, in 2015 and 2020, modern synchronous magnetotelluric studies were carried out on the profiles of Mukachevo-Skole, Seredne-Borynya and Karpatsky at twenty-three points and the spatiotemporal distribution and the electric field on the Earth's surface, which can be used to assess the conductivity and geoelectrical structure of the region, was obtained. Processing of experimental data was performed using the software PRC_MTMV, which provides a common noise-canceling impedance estimation for synchronous magnetotellurical recordings. Curves of apparent electrical resistivity (amplitude values and phases of impedance) from 10 to 10000 s were obtained reliably. A joint analysis of the apparent resistivity and impedance phases and the formal interpretation of the deep magnetotellurical sounding curves using the Niblett transformation indicate the presence of the spatially inhomogeneous conductor both in the earth's crust and in the upper part of the upper mantle. The chain of local conductive sections in the earth's crust coincides with the axial part of the Carpathian conductivity anomaly. High conductivity of the upper mantle was recorded in the Ukrainian Carpathians from the Transcarpathian Depression to the Skiba cover. It is shown that it is not a homogeneous layer, there is a general deepening of the upper edge to the northeast from 40-60 km (Transcarpathian depression) to 90-100 km (Krosno cover). Sharp deepening along the Porkulets and Dukla covers is revealed. Information about the existence of a deep conductor and its parameters should be the basis for quantitative interpretation and construction of the 3D deep geoelectrical model.

Research subject. Volcanism, rock geochemistry, geodynamics, and massive sulfide formation in the Magnitogorsk megazone (MMZ) of the Southern Urals in the Middle Paleozoic.Materials and Methods. Across the largest part of the massive sulfide deposits under investigation, the authors conducted route studies, including geological surveys of individual ore fields and quarries of deposits, core samples of deep wells and transparent sections. Representative analyses of petrogenic and microelements were performed using wet chemistry and ICP-MS in analytical centers in Russia and Europe. Along with the authors’ data, analytical materials published by Russian and foreign researchers were used. Geodynamic reconstructions were carried out taking into account regional data on gravics, thermal field, magnetometry, and seismic stu dies, including «Urseis-95».Results. The geodynamic reconstructions established that the main elements of the paleostructure of the Southern Urals in the Devonian were the subduction zone of the eastern dip and asthenospheric diapirs that penetrated into the «slab-window», which determined the type of volcanic belts, the composition and volume of volcanic rocks of pyrite-bearing complexes, and ore matter of pyrite deposits. The following geodynamic zones in the MMZ were identified: 1 – polychronous accretion prism; 2 – frontal and developed island arcs (D1e2–D2ef1); 3 – zone of back-arc spreading (D1e2); 4 – rear island arc (D2ef1).Conclusions. All investigated zones and ore areas are characterized by an autonomous development of volcanism, a special deep structure and a different composition, as well as by a different volume of massive sulfide deposits that vary in the Cu and Zn ratios and Pb, Ba, Au amounts. In the MMZ volcanic complexes, three groups of plume source basalts are distinguished. The results can be used in predictive-estimation and search operations for massive sulfide mineralization.

For the first time, on the basis of the data set of the Taimyr geophysical site, the processes that cause vertical oscillatory movements of large blocks of the continental crust and largely determine its deep structure are confidently recorded. In this regard, the conceptual apparatus of plate tectonics is being expanded due to terms that were not originally used for it, previously used within the framework of geosyncline theory. Modern geodynamics combines concepts opposed in the past, thereby forming a conceptually new geosyncline plate tectonics. Under the new paradigm, the oil and gas prospects of an area are determined not so much by its confinement to a geostructure of any age, as by the current stage of the geosyncline cycle, characterized by subsidence, active sedimentation processes and formation of a sedimentary basin or, conversely, orogenesis and dominant erosion of sediments. Thus, one or another scenario will cause a different inflow of hydrocarbons from the generation area, which means that regional tectonic movements largely predetermine the realization of the hydrocarbon potential, making them one of the most important criteria for its assessment.

The method of deep seismic sounding (DSS), the observation systems in which are characterized by an irregular arrangement of both sources and receivers along the profile, a significant step between receivers, as well as maximum source-receiver distances exceeding several hundred kilometers, makes it possible to obtain an image of the crystalline basement using seismic migration fields of reflected/refracted waves. The main part of the existing migration methods, the use of which makes it possible to form an image of the deep structure of the study area in the dynamic characteristics of the recorded wave field, is focused on processing seismic data obtained by the method of reflected waves with multiple overlap observation systems (MOV—CDP). And, as a rule, these migration methods are designed for a smooth change in speed with depth. At the same time, at the boundary of the crystalline basement, the speed changes very sharply, which must be taken into account when processing data using migration. The proposed method for constructing an image of the crystalline basement is based on the use of finite-difference migration of the field of reflected/refracted waves, which was developed at the Institute of Geophysics named after S. I. Subbotin National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. This migration method is designed to isolate supercritically reflected and refracted waves recorded from the basement in the far zone of the source and takes into account the full trajectory of waves passing through a two-layer medium, at the boundary of which there is a significant jump in velocity. Thus, the migration of the field of reflected/refracted waves makes it possible to obtain a correct image of the structure of the refractive layer of the crystalline basement. The article describes in detail the algorithm of the technique for constructing an image of the crystalline basement using finite-difference migration of the field of reflected/refracted waves and its difference from similar methods of migration. The advantages and disadvantages of the proposed method are shown when solving problems of regional seismic research. Explained and illustrated the features of constructing the image of violations on the border of the foundation. The effectiveness of the technique is demonstrated on a model example and real seismic data observed by the DSS method on the territory of Ukraine.

The deep structure and formation of the North Caspian (Precaspian) depression have not been fully understood due to the scarcity of depth studies at 18–22 km. The existing concepts and hypotheses are clearly insufficient to interpret the unexplained facts. New approaches and research efforts are necessary to solve the old problems. The current state of the depression deep structure problems is reviewed, and the existing explanation flaws are demonstrated. The depression consolidated crust has oceanic and riftogenic origin as it has been suggested by the author before. This explanation is supported by the Astrakhan deposit D-2 deep well core data. The Astrakhan-Aktobe zone arched uplift genesis, formation and role in the carbonate platforms emergence are discussed. Deep geothermy and fluid dynamics problems, as well as recent geophysical data are considered in view of the North Caspian depression hydrocarbon prospects.

Abstract Typologically, the Old and Middle Scandinavian languages preserve features lost in Modern Scandinavian (Danish, Norwegian and Swedish), especially zero arguments and inactive constructions. Both phenomena present difficulties for the analysis of the Old and Middle Scandinavian languages as configurational, and generative linguists often choose a reductionist strategy, claiming that at the level of deep structure, configurational structure persists. Based on Middle Danish, my claim will be that zero arguments are semantically different from – and therefore cannot be reduced to – pronouns, and secondly, that inactive constructions do not have oblique subjects, but oblique first arguments (A1s). The meanings of the case forms nominative and oblique differ, depending on their constructional context. Any functional theory must respect the relevant grammatical sign contrasts of the language analysed, not try to explain them away.
