Abstract Loops are repetitive control structures in programming languages. They are used extensively in many algorithms. The for-loop and while-loop exist, where the former is repeated a number of times while the latter is repeated until a condition is met. Some have asked if re-arranging loops in certain ways can change a program’s speed to produce machine-independent optimisation. Therefore, this research sought to find out if there is any speed difference in a single loop of computations and a loop with an inner loop of same computations. Greater focus is on inner for-loop. The research used a comparative study method in order to evaluate the primary data obtained from running several tests in four popular programming languages: C, C#, Python and R. The Python implementations were further tested on Ubuntu 16 for comparison with results from Windows 10. Results established that, across all languages, there were more computations performed per unit time with an inner for-loop than no inner loop, meaning, given the same number of computations to perform, a loop with an inner for-loop will finish faster. The inner while-loop didn’t perform so well, though. This study will help developers in making better choices with programming language and style.

In this era of technology, programming has become more significant than ever before. Python and C++ are both widely used programming languages. Python, the most popular programming language in today’s world, is a high-level object-oriented language whereas C++, the language behind most operating systems, is a low-level object-oriented language. In this paper, we present a comparative study of Python and C++. This paper discusses the introduction to these languages, their memory management techniques, and the reasons behind their program execution speed. Furthermore, we analyzed the execution time and memory used by multiple algorithms in both the languages with best, average, and worst cases. They are also compared with respect to the benefits and issues related to them. Results indicate that C++ is faster than Python in execution speed but Python serves as a better language for beginners due to its simplicity. Moreover, for the best results, the language should be selected according to the type of project.

AbstractComputer software or computer software is a collection of instructions (programs or procedures) to be able to carry out work automatically by processing or processing the collection of instructions (data) provided. (Yahfizham, 2019: 19) Most of the computer software is made by (programmers) using the programming language. People who make programming languages write commands in the programming language like the language used by people in general in conducting conversation. The commands are called (source code). Other computer programs called (compilers) are used in (source code) and then change the command into a language understood by the computer and the results are called executable programs (EXE). Basically, computers always have computer software or software consisting of operating systems, application systems and programming languages.

Two-Stage Programming (2SP) is an experimental programming language, the first implementation of the Specification-Consistent Coordination Model (SCCM). The SCCM proposes a new, mixed-paradigm (functional/imperative) approach to developing reliable programs based on complete run-time checking of computations with respect to a given specification. A 2SP program consists of a functional specification and an imperative coordination tightly connected to the specification. The coordination maps the specification to an imperative and possibly parallel/distributed program. Normal termination of a 2SP program execution implies the correctness of the computed results with respect to the specification, for that execution. We present the basic feautures of the SCCM/2SP, a new message-spassing system of 2SP with integrated run-time checking, and a larger case study. We show that 2SP provides: functional specifications, specification-consistent imperative coordinations, automatic run-time result verification and error detection, enhanced debugging support, and good efficiency.

This article details the creation of a hybrid computer programming environment combining the power of the text-based Java language with the visual features of the Snap! language. It has been well documented that there exists a gap in the education of computing students in their mid-to-late teenage years, where perhaps visual programming languages are no longer suitable and textual programming languages may involve too steep of a learning curve. There is an increasing need for programming environments that combine the benefits of both languages into one. Snap! is a visual programming language which employs “blocks” to allow users to build programs, similar to the functionality offered by Scratch. One added benefit of Snap! is that it offers the ability to create one’s own blocks and extend the functionality of those blocks to create more complex and powerful programs. This will be utilised to create the Hybrid Java environment. The development of this tool will be detailed in the article, along with the motivation and use cases for it. Initial testing conducted will be discussed including one phase that gathered feedback from a pool of 174 first year Computer Science students. These participants were given instructions to work with the hybrid programming language and evaluate their experience of using it. The analysis of the findings along with future improvements to the language will also be presented.

This paper inventories some of the essential traits of the software preferred by researchers, students and professors, such as R or RStudio, or Matlab and also their possible utilizations. In order to fill the gap in the Romanian literature and help finance students in choosing proper tools according to the research purpose, this comparative study aims at bringing a fresh, useful perspective in the relevant literature. In Romania, the use of R was the focus of several international conferences on official statistics held in Bucharest, and others having business excellence, innovation and sustainability as purpose. In this time, at global scale, R and Python programming languages are considered the lingua franca of data science, as common statistical software used both in corporations and academia. In this paper, I analyze basic features of such software, with the purpose of application in finance.
