Abstract In this paper we construct examples of different types of connections starting from a semi-symmetric metric connection g, for example a connection which is a symmetric metric connection with respect to a conformally related metric, but symmetric non-metric with respect to the initial metric. We formulate an open problem: to find a parallel complex structure on a Kaehler manifold with respect to such a new connection.

Catalytic conversion of actual biomass to valuable chemicals is a crucial issue in green chemistry. This review discusses on the recent approach in the levulinic acid (LA) formation from three prominent generations of biomasses. Our paper highlights the impact of the nature of different types of biomass and their complex structure and impurities, different groups of catalyst, solvents, and reaction system, and condition and all related pros and cons for this process.

Search for different types of distinguishers are common tasks in symmetrickey cryptanalysis. In this work, we employ the constraint programming (CP) technique to tackle such problems. First, we show that a simple application of the CP approach proposed by Gerault et al. leads to the solution of the open problem of determining the exact lower bound of the number of active S-boxes for 6-round AES-128 in the related-key model. Subsequently, we show that the same approach can be applied in searching for integral distinguishers, impossible differentials, zero-correlation linear approximations, in both the single-key and related-(twea)key model. We implement the method using the open source constraint solver Choco and apply it to the block ciphers PRESENT, SKINNY, and HIGHT (ARX construction). As a result, we find 16 related-tweakey impossible differentials for 12-round SKINNY-64-128 based on which we construct an 18-round attack on SKINNY-64-128 (one target version for the crypto competition https://sites.google.com/site/skinnycipher announced at ASK 2016). Moreover, we show that in some cases, when equipped with proper strategies (ordering heuristic, restart and dynamic branching strategy), the CP approach can be very efficient. Therefore, we suggest that the constraint programming technique should become a convenient tool at hand of the symmetric-key cryptanalysts.

Purpose. It is necessary to study of the effect of heterophase inclusions on the technological ductility of steels for various purposes. The goal of the work was to study of the nature and level of plasticity of multiphase inclusions in steels under conditions of hot and cold deformation. Methods. Comprehensive methods for the study of heterophase non-metallic inclusions (metallographic, petrographic, X-ray microanalysis methods) were used. Results. Plastic phases in multiphase inclusions of different types under conditions of hot and cold deformation of steels were investigated. It is shown that each type of multiphase inclusions, which are microcomposite formations in steels, is characterized by its laws of development of deformation processes, which are determined by their chemical and phase composition, structure, deformation ability of the phases of inclusions. Scientific novelty. Peculiarities of plastic behavior of multiphase inclusions of different types are established. The inhibitory effect of non-deformable phases of inclusions on the deformability of plastic phases in a wide range of steel deformation temperatures is established. Peculiarities of the nature of plasticity of multiphase inclusions having different compositions and structure are discussed. Practical significance. Using the results obtained will allow developing technologies for producing steels with regulated content and types of multiphase non-metallic inclusions, which will significantly increase their technological plasticity, as well as prevent the formation of various kinds of defects during the processing of steels by pressure.

AbstractThe neuromuscular junction (NMJ) is a complex structure that efficiently communicates the electrical impulse from the motor neuron to the skeletal muscle to induce muscle contraction. Genetic and autoimmune disorders known to compromise neuromuscular transmission are providing further insights into the complexities of NMJ function. Congenital myasthenic syndromes (CMSs) are a genetically and phenotypically heterogeneous group of rare hereditary disorders affecting neuromuscular transmission. The understanding of the molecular basis of the different types of CMSs has evolved rapidly in recent years. Mutations were first identified in the subunits of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (AChR), but now mutations in ten different genes – encoding post-, pre- or synaptic proteins – are known to cause CMSs. Pathogenic mechanisms leading to an impaired neuromuscular transmission modify AChRs or endplate structure or lead to decreased acetylcholine synthesis and release. However, the genetic background of many CMS forms is still unresolved. A precise molecular classification of CMS type is of paramount importance for the diagnosis, counselling and therapy of a patient, as different drugs may be beneficial or deleterious depending on the molecular background of the particular CMS.

We study radical screen transversal ([Formula: see text])-lightlike submanifolds of an indefinite Kaehler manifold admitting a quarter-symmetric non-metric connection and obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for the screen distribution of a radical [Formula: see text]-lightlike submanifold to be integrable. We also study totally umbilical radical [Formula: see text]-lightlike submanifolds and obtain some characterization theorems for a radical [Formula: see text]-lightlike submanifold to be a lightlike product manifold. Finally, we establish some results regarding the vanishes of null sectional curvature.

AbstractPesticides as one of the micro-pollutants present a great problem and threat to the environment and human health. They can infiltrate the sources of drinking water by application on the agricultural fields. This article is focused on Atrazine, Terbuthylazine and their metabolites. It is their complex structure that makes them hard to degrade naturally and, thus, water needs to be treated before safe using. Therefore, this article studies adsorption on the two granular activated carbons Filtrasorb 400 and Norit 1240 W. For the determination of the concentration liquid chromatography was used. In this article it is presented that Filtrasorb 400 efficiency (26–40% and 33–45% for atrazine and terbuthylazine respectively) is better than the efficiency of Norit 1240 W (9–27% and 10–24% for atrazine and terbuthylazine respectively).
