Abstract The authors will try to introduce the subject and provide arguments that will show the differences and similarities between psychiatric health care center and nursing home, as Polish society often wrongly use those two different types of institutional support interchangeably. Both, health care center and nursing home offer round-the-clock services, but they differ in scope of activity. The knowledge of the profile of institutional units should be an essential argument when choosing the type of institution. The basic criterion for admission to the health care center (psychiatric or somatic) are medical condition, the presence of the disease and the need for continued treatment. While the cause of referring to the nursing home is, or in many cases should be, the life incapability, the lack of support of the home environment or homelessness. Awareness to the highest quality of care and support should be an overarching value of all institutions, both health care and social welfare and the standards of care and support should contribute to changing society’s attitude to this type of institutions.

Patient satisfaction in health care is very important to be noticed because it can describe the quality of service in the health care center. Knowing patient satisfaction is very useful for the relevant agencies in the context of evaluating the current program and can find which parts those need improvement, therefore it is necessary to identify what attributes are assessed to be corrected and improving the quality of service.. The respondests were KIS card holders who take treatment at the Plosoklaten Public Health Center, consists of 92 respondents obtained from calculations using the Slovin approach. The results of the distribution of questionnaires will be tested for reliability and validity, this test is carried out in order to determine the validity of the study questionnaire and whether the study is reliable or not. Furthermore, the results of the questionnaire will be processed using the IPA (Important Performance Matrix) method to determine what attributes are in low value of satisfaction to the customer. The results of the 92 questionnaire respondents obtaining the attribute that occupied in quadrant I in the Cartesian diagram produced by the IPA (Important Performance Matrix) method is the Tangibles dimension.

Background Dysphagia and difficulty with eating affects a significant portion of individuals with advanced dementia. Such problems with oral intake can have serious health consequences including mealtime distress, dehydration and malnutrition, aspiration, reduced quality of life, and increased mortality risk. Design We present the first data indicating that “Music & Memory” interventions improve swallowing in individuals with advanced dementia, thereby making oral feeding easier and potentially diminishing reliance on PEG. Setting Columbia Health Care Center, Wyocena, WI (with Music&Memory.org, Mineola, NY and Stony Brook University). Participants Residents with advanced dementia (N = 5). Measurements: Observation by eight professional caregivers. Results (1) Enhanced swallowing mechanism with Music & Memory prior to dining; (2) decreased incidents of choking during mealtime; (3) improved nutritional status; (4) reduced weight loss; (5) reduced need for speech interventions; (6) enhanced quality of life. Conclusions The preliminary results call for additional research.

Aims: This study assesses the state of newborn home-care practices and care-seeking behaviors among the recently delivered mothers to better inform the behavior change communication efforts for effective implementation of the program. Methods: A descriptive study was conducted in two village development committees of Makwanpur district from June to July 2011. A total of 214 women, residing for six months or more in study areas and delivered within past one year, were interviewed using questionnaires designed to collect quantitative and qualitative data. Results: Eighty eight percent of the respondents practiced exclusive breastfeeding, 44% dried and wrapped their newborn within the first five minutes following delivery and 84% used a clean instrument to cut the umbilicus. Ninety-five percent of mother accessed antenatal care from a skilled health provider, 77% of mothers completed four antenatal care visits and only 13% of mothers accessed postnatal care. The first place the mothers would go for seeking care for the neonates was the Primary Health Care Center (54%) followed by the traditional practitioners (20%) and private clinics (6%). The low quality of services at Primary Health Care Center was the most commonly cited barrier to care-seeking (22%) followed by staff unavailability, behaviour and poor counselling.  Conclusions: Effective implementation of community-based integrated newborn care program will require engaging stakeholders in both short-term behaviour change communication strategies and long-term commitments to improving quality of care.
