In this paper, a new, optimization strategy is used for the determination of the optimum cutting parameters for multipass milling operations. This strategy is based on the “minimum production time” criterion. The optimum number of passes is determined via dynamic programming, and the optimal values of the cutting conditions are found based on the objective function developed for the typified criterion by using a hybrid genetic algorithm with SQP. GA is the main optimizer of this algorithm, whereas SQP is used to fine-tune the results obtained from the GA. Furthermore, the convergence characteristics and robustness of the proposed method have been explored through comparisons with results reported in literature. The obtained results indicate that the proposed strategy is effective compared to other techniques carried out by different researchers.

This paper deals with the concept of the translation approach to the problem of interaction of language and culture in terms of determination of the translation solutions by linguoethnic factors. The authors pay main attention to the analysis of the notion of culture. The concept proceeds from the views and opinions regarding the culture and its role in shaping the identity of the person introduced by the honorary doctor (doctor honoris cause) of the MGIMO-University Federico Major in his book «New page». Sharing the point of view of F. Major , the authors come to the conclusion that culture is a knowledge, based on which an individual perceives and evaluates his performance and behavior. Projecting such a position on the verbal behavior, the authors highlight the leading role of culture in the process of producing a speech act played when choosing the individual models of behavior on the basis of the knowledge of the communicative situation. Based on F. Mayor`s opinion that culture unites rather than divides people, the authors note the presence of universal and unique linguoethnic elements in the cultural knowledge of the representatives of various ethnic groups which determine the degree of similarities and differences in the ways of expressing knowledge in different languages. In this paper the authors reasonably use the term «linguoethnic» to describe the cultural-cognitive peculiarities inherent to individuals as representatives of different ethnic groups, as well as give comparison of the terms «linguoethnic» and «linguocultural».

<p>A thorough understanding of complex interactions within particulate systems is a key for knowledge-based formulations. Hansen solubility parameters (HSP) are widely used to assess the compatibility of the dispersed phase with the continuous phase. At present, the determination of HSP is often based on a liquid ranking list obtained by evaluating a pertinent dispersion parameter using only one pre-selected characterization method. Furthermore, one cannot rule out the possibility of subjective judgment especially for liquids for which it is difficult to decipher the compatibility or underlying interactions. As a result, the end value of HSP might be of little or no information. To overcome these issues, we introduce a generalized technology-agnostic combinatorics-based approach. We discuss the principles of the approach and the implications of evaluating and reporting particle HSP values. We demonstrate the approach by using SiNx particles. We leverage the analytical centrifugation data to evaluate stability trajectories of SiNx dispersions in various liquids to deduce particle-liquid compatibility. </p>

Determination of optimal cutting parameters is one of the most important elements in any process planning of metal parts. In this paper, a new optimization technique, firefly algorithm, is used for determining the machining parameters in a multipass turning operation model. The objective considered is minimization of production cost under a set of machining constraints. The optimization is carried out using firefly algorithm. An application example is presented and solved to illustrate the effectiveness of the presented algorithm.

The high-velocity oxy-fuel spraying process was used to investigate and improve the surface properties of a workpiece. The research was focused on the spherical surface of a workpiece made of high-strength steel, a ball and socket assembly. After spraying with a nickel alloy, the surface was machined by milling. The coating was carried out as a process in which a very thin layer of coating of the required thickness and the required specific properties, i.e., high Vickers hardness, adhesion to the surface, wear resistance and other important characteristics, which must be respected in other machining methods, was applied to the already finished, heat-prepared metal substrate. This article deals with the milling of complex surfaces of steel substrate EN 10060 after spraying with NiCrBSi alloy. After spraying, a total of 15 milling experiments were performed in order to determine precisely the optimal cutting parameters of milling and surface adhesion, based on newly acquired prediction relations. The main presented results are new relations for the determination of optimal technological milling conditions based on the identification of adhesive sections using derived equations. The new relations were verified and also compared with the current literature in the field.

A fast and simple method for the determination of the residual deformation for a class of welding problems, ring-stiffened pipes, is proposed. The method can predictradial as well as angular distortion of the thin-walled pipe-ring-stiffener/flange assembly. The pipe and stiffener material is elasto-plastic. In particular, the accumulation of deformation in multipass welding is incorporated in the model. Each weld pass is treated separately. This facilitates the assessment of the influence of the sequence in which the weld passes are deposited on the residual deformation state. The method will be included in a conversational knowledge-based “expert” system for the production of a welded ring-stiffened pipe.
