Together with his spouse Lili Maas, ArtD., who added to the exact science, arts and her heart and love, all of those Journals were not only reading of naked facts and theories, or science but both were teaching us to accept psycho- logy, social work and medicine as art culture and love, what is more than science and knowledge, more than facts. Sergey Sergeyevich YUDIN - Academician of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences (to the 130th of birthday)

Sergey Sergeevich was born in 1891. He graduated from the medical faculty of Moscow University. He served as an ordinary doctor, head of a sanitary detachment, a doctor of an infantry regiment, a surgical infirmary, a surgical department of the Tula Zemsky hospital, the Zakharino sanatorium near Moscow, a factory hospital in Serpukhov. From 1925 to 1927, S. S. Yudin worked as a private assistant professor, since 1928-head of the surgical department of the N. V. Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Medicine. In 1930, he first performed a transfusion of fibrinolysis blood to a person. During the Great Patriotic War, he was a senior consultant inspector at the Chief surgeon of the Soviet Army, N. N. Burdenko. In 1948, he was awarded the State Prize and arrested as an "enemy of the Soviet state". During his stay in prison (1948-1952), Sergey Sergeevich, despite having suffered another heart attack, writes a book "Reflections of a surgeon", which is published after the author's death. In March 1952, S. S. Yudin was exiled in the city of Berdsk, and then in Novosibirsk, where he continues to conduct surgical interventions. In 1953, S. S. Yudin was rehabilitated by the decision of a Special meeting under the Minister of Internal Affairs of the USSR. S. S. Yudin died of a heart attack on June 12, 1954. Sergey Sergeyevich Yudin is the author of 15 monographs and 181 printed scientific papers, including the monograph "Spinal anesthesia", recognized as the best book on medicine in the USSR, the two-volume manual "Notes on military field surgery" and the book "Reflections of a surgeon".Sergey Sergeyevich Yudin-academician of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences (1944), honorary member of the English, American, French, Czech Societies of Surgeons, Honorary Doctor of the Sorbonne (1946). He was awarded the Orders of Lenin (1943), the Red Star (1942), the Red Banner (1944, 1945) and the St. George Medal. Memorial plaques dedicated to S. S. Yudin are installed on the facades of the buildings of the N. V. Sklifosovsky Institute (1959), the historical building of the Serpukhov Central Hospital. A bust of S. S. Yudin is installed in front of the building of the Children's Clinical Hospital in Novosibirsk.

The UN Secretary-General on the global digitalization and international cooperation

Nowadays, the establishment of peaceful cooperation between nations depends on the development of digital economy and its regulation. To a certain extent, this new reality challenges the basic principles of the old world and defines some new rules to which humankind is supposed to adapt. On May 13 during his visit to Moscow, Russia, the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres was welcomed at MGIMO-University and conferred an Honorary Doctor degree. Following the ceremony, as is tradition, the Secretary-General delivered a doctoral lecture to students and faculty. TheSecretary-General touched on the subject of the consequences of digitalization, its impact on human rights protection and the role of the international community in the era of digital revolution.

Samoilov Vladimir Olegovich (on the 80th anniversary of his birth)

The article briefly covers the scientific, pedagogical and creative activities of Vladimir Olegovich Samoilov, whose life and fate have been associated with his alma mater for more than six decades. May 7, 2021 Vladimir Olegovich Samoilov turned 80 years old. Vladimir Olegovich Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Retired Major General of the Medical Service, Honorary Doctor of the Military Medical Academy named after S.M. Kirov. Vladimir Olegovich made a significant contribution to the emergence of an independent scientific discipline in medical universities of the country medical biophysics, which began to study the fundamental problems of metabolism and bioenergetics at the molecular, cellular and systemic levels. Samoilov developed original training courses in biophysics and medical electronics and headed the Department of Medical Physics for 14 years. Together with the staff of the department, he revived and rebuilt the teaching of higher mathematics and general physics at the Academy on the basis of the deductive method. Since 1974 Biophysics is taught at the Military Medical Academy named after S.M. Kirov as a system of physical and physico-chemical processes underlying life activity. In 1988, V.O. Samoilov was appointed Deputy Head of the Academy for Academic and Scientific Work. In the next six years, under his leadership, the system of basic military medical education was restructured. In 2001 Vladimir Olegovich headed the Department of Normal Physiology. During the difficult time of the change of generations, the department reorganized the educational process and resumed scientific research on the main sections of normal physiology. He formed one of the brightest scientific academic schools, which consists of seven doctors and 22 candidates of science.

Our friend Melvin Kohn

In the genre of oral history of sociology, the author narrates his experience of communication with the famous American sociologist, former president of the American Sociological Association (1987), honorary doctor of the Kiev-Mohyla Academy Melvin Lester Kohn (1928–2021). It is about the friendship and cooperation of Melvin Cohn with Ukrainian colleagues, his participation in the organization and holding of international research with the participation of Ukraine. The creative heritage of the American sociologist is important for the development of sociology in the world and in Ukraine, in particular for better understanding the social structure of Ukrainian society.

On January 1, 2021, Yuri N.Chernov, Doctor of Sciences (Mediсine), Professor, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Academician of the International Human Academy in Aerospace Systems, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, passed away. Yuri N.Chernov was Honorary Doctor of the State Research and TestInstitute of Military Medicine ofRF Ministry of Defense,a specialist in the field of clinical pharmacology and aerospace radiobiology, Honorary Professor of Voronezh State Medical University n. a. N.N. Burdenko.

In memoriam to Professor Jean Nicod (1923-2021)

With pain and sadness, we have received news about the death of Prof. Jean Nicod. Prof. Jean Nicod was Dr. Litt., retired Professor Emeritus of Physical Geography at the University Aix-Marseille, Institute of Geography, Aix-en-Provence, honorary doctor of the University of Silesia (1994), and Corresponding member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (2003). Prof. Nicod was an outstanding geographer, geomorphologist, researcher of karst phenomena and Mediterranean geomorphology, the founder of the French school of karst geomorphology, and of Association Française de Karstologie (French Association of Karstology), its first president (1977-1986), later its honorary president. Additionally, he was president of Commision de Phenomène Karstique du Comité National de Géographie (Commission of karst phenomena at the National Geographic Committee), and the founder and editor of the journals Karstologia and Méditerranée.

Honorary doctor of the military medical academy professor V.V. Volkov (To the 100th anniversary of his birth)

The main milestones of the life path, creative, clinical, scientific and pedagogical activity of Hero of Socialist Labor, laureate of the State Prize of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Honored Scientist of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, Honorary Doctor of the Military Medical Academy named after S.M. Kirov Professor Major General Medical Service Veniamin Vasilyevich Volkov are presented. His fundamental research in such sections of ophthalmology as the organization of specialized assistance in the Armed Forces, ophthalmotraumatology, combined lesions and burns of the eyes, vitreoretinal pathology, glaucoma, ophthalmoncology, visual organ physiology, lacrimation pathology, development and introduction of lasers into ophthalmological practice, made him one of the most authoritative specialists in domestic and world ophthalmology. In 1967, V.V. Volkov headed the Department of Ophthalmology, which he led 22 years before his dismissal from the Armed Forces on September 20, 1989. His multifaceted educational, medical and scientific activities were awarded numerous awards and titles. Employees of the Department of Ophthalmology of the Military Medical Academy named after S.M. Kirov are proud that they are students of the school of Professor V.V. Volkov, and the teachers of the older generation were lucky to work together with a scientist who made a significant contribution to the development of Soviet and Russian ophthalmology, whose works received widespread world recognition. Professor V.V. Volkov is a scientist who formed the scientific school of the Department of Ophthalmology of the Military Medical Academy named after S.M. Kirov in its modern form. Therefore, in 2019, the department was named after him.

On 27 March Stepan Vidnianskyi celebrates his 70th birthday. He is a well-known Ukrainian scholar, expert in the world history, Head of the Department of the History of International Relations and Foreign Policy of Ukraine at the Institute of History of Ukraine of the NAS of Ukraine (since 1991), Doctor of History (1997), Professor (1999), Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine (2015), Honored Science and Engineering Worker of Ukraine (2001), Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology (2016), Honorary Doctor of the Uzhhorod National University (2005), Foreign Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (2009), executive editor of the interagency collected scientific papers “The International Relations of Ukraine: Scientific Searches and Findings” (since 1993), author of about 600 scientific works.
