The authors used the comparative historical method, and the methods of analysis, synthesis, which made it possible to trace how the ideas of Eurasianism are reflected in the development of modern education in Russia. The ideas of Eurasianism of spirituality and human personality are closely intertwined with the tasks and goals of modern Russian education, since both of them speak about the value of each individual in the formation of a cohesive society, which, in turn, is the core of the powerful state formation. Based on the conducted research, it can be concluded that the ideas of Eurasianism about spirituality and multiculturalism are particularly relevant and are reflected in the aims of education that are directly promoted by the state. The authors say that in choosing the way to develop modern education in Russia, we should take into the account the political and philosophical concept of Eurasianism. In turn, this will help to develop Russia`s own unique way of education development that meets the world's needs and fully reflects Russian realities.

The dynamics of several demographic indicators of Russia - child and teenage cohorts in 1970-2000, life expectancy in 1995-2000, migration flows among federal districts in the period between two censuses of 1989 and 2002 - are considered in the article. The author puts forward the hypothesis about the influence of these indicators on the level of education in narrow and broad senses - in educational institutions and the society as a whole. He estimates the perspectives of regional higher educational institutions under conditions of absence of plan distribution of graduates and the double cyclical fall in the number of high school graduates. The agenda for the development of a two-stage system of higher education corresponding with international integration processes is formulated.

The relations between Russia and Africa today go to a new level. This was successfully demonstrated by the first Russia-Africa Summit. The «soft power» that is capable of creating an atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding and supporting the further development of political, economic, and cultural relations between the Russian and African peoples is of great importance for the further advancement of Russia’s interests, which is considered in this article. Currently, the «soft power» of Russia in Africa is represented by the activities of the Russian centers of science and culture, the «Russkiy Mir» Foundation, schools at the Russian Embassies in African countries, the education of Africans in Russian universities and more. However, the author concludes that Russia does not fully use «soft power» on the continent. It is necessary to increase the number of Africans studying the Russian language, to more actively promote Russian education, to involve compatriots and graduates of Soviet / Russian universities to joint projects, which will undoubtedly contribute to the further development of mutually beneficial Russian-African ties.
