Examinations and their results often become perhaps the biggest challenge in young person’s life, which is associated with the course of later life. For this reason, a high level of stress is observed, which is maintained by both personal and situational factors. In this context, the objective of this study is to identify the links between the experienced anxiety, identity style, examinations stress and its coping strategies of the gymnasium students. The study involved 175 gymnasium students in grades 10 to 12. Of these, 109 were girls (62.3%) and 66 were boys (37.7%), aged 16 to 19 years of age (M = 17.27, SD = 0.92). Gymnasium students were given a questionnaire based on the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (Spielberger, Gorsuch, Lushene, 1970), Identity Style Inventory Version 5 (ISI-5) (Berzonsky, Soenens, Luyckx, Smits, Papini, Goossens, 2013), the Stress Coping Questionnaire (Grakauskas, Valickas, 2006), and the Examination Stress Scale for Adolescent Students (Sung, Chao, 2014). It was found that the more frequent experience of stress in gymnasium students examinations was predicted by stronger trait and state anxiety, more frequent choice of informational, normative identity processing style and more frequent use of avoidance strategy in experiencing stress.

AimsThe present study aims at investigating the level of stress among Saudi healthcare workers during COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the present study sought to identify the coping strategies adopted by Saudi healthcare workers to alleviate the stress related to COVID-19 pandemic.MethodA descriptive cross-sectional study was performed in the period between September and November/2020. A sample of 381 healthcare workers (Physicians, nurses, and technicians) were recruited from King Saud Medical City (KSMC). Both Perceived Stress Scale-4 (PSS-4) and BRIEF-COPE scale were used to assess the levels of stress and the stress coping strategies, respectively. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the healthcare workers’ responses about the COVID-19 related stress and their adopted coping strategiesResultThe results of the study showed that there was a moderate to high level of COVID-19 related stress (11.64 ± 0.73) among the Saudi healthcare workers. In addition, it was found that planning (3.89 ± 0.61), positive reframing (3.69 ± 0.77), venting (3.39 ± 1.01), and emotional support (3.27 ± 0.63) were the most adopted coping strategies by the healthcare workers to overcome and reduce the stress levelsConclusionThe study concluded that both problem-focused and emotion-focused stress coping strategies were the most commonly adopted coping strategies among Saudi healthcare workers in KSMC. The study recommends increasing the number of the healthcare workers in the KSMC, in addition to increasing the healthcare workers’ knowledge, awareness and practice of the stress coping strategies, especially in crisis events, such as COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: The global spread of COVID-19, due to its pathogenesis and high mortality rate, has caused high levels of stress among various levels of societies. Hence, it is necessary to investigate social support interventions concerning their effectiveness and accessibility. Objectives: The study aimed to determine the association between coping strategies and social support in survivors of COVID-19. Methods: Following a descriptive-correlational design, using the census method, 158 discharged cases with a definitive diagnosis of COVID-19 in 2020 were recruited. Data collection tools included the demographic characteristics questionnaire, CISS-48 stress-coping methods, and Wax's social support questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics of Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate regression in SPSS version 22. Results: The most and least frequent stress coping strategies used by patients were problem-oriented (48.49 ± 9.99) and avoidance-oriented stress strategies (24.48 ± 4.11), respectively. Family support (39.02 ± 4.20) was the major source of support. There was a significant correlation between the score of social support and the total score of stress, problem-oriented, and avoidance-oriented stress. According to the regression analysis, there was a significant association between the score of coping strategies and educational level. Conclusions: By increasing the awareness of COVID-19 patients about problem-based coping strategies, their stress can be reduced. Also, due to the high level of social support provided by the family, planning for family-centered nursing interventions and engaging family members in the care of COVID-19 patients are important.

With increasing demands of the job market, occupational stress isbecoming a matter of great concern for both employers and employeesacross the occupations. Individuals try different coping strategies andapproaches to keep this stress at a manageable level. This studyexamined the stress coping strategies and approaches used by the schoolteachers in respect to their perceived level of stress. A self-developedquestionnaire based on COPE inventory was used to conduct this surveybasedexploratory study. A sample of 400 school teachers with diversebackgrounds working in both public and private sectors was randomlyselected from two district of Punjab. Mean, percentage and t-test wereapplied to analyze the data. The study found that 60% of the teachersperceived high or very high level of stress. Female teachers reportedmore stress than male teachers. ‘Turning to religion’, ‘positivereinterpretation’ and ‘planning’ to actively solve the problem are themostly used coping strategies. The majority of respondents usedproblem-oriented and emotion-oriented strategies. Further, it was foundthat as the level of stress increased, teachers tend towards use of problemand emotion-oriented approaches than avoidance and social-supportapproaches.

Introduction: Emotional intelligence is a decisive factor for adaptation to the work environment.Objective: To inquire into the employment location and the correlation between perceived quality of work life, emotional intelligence and stress coping strategies in graduates of a university from Manizales.Materials and methods: Analytical cross-sectional design. From a population of 1 245 graduates, 149 were asked about their working conditions using the CVP35 questionnaire on quality of work life, the TMMS-24 questionnaire on emotional intelligence, and the CRI-Y questionnaire on stress coping strategies.Results: 88.6% of the respondents work; 51.7% of them have a full-time job. In the CVP35, 53% of the participants were classified in the “quite a lot” category for the workload domain, 63.1% for the intrinsic motivation domain, 51.7% for the managerial support domain, and 4% for the perceived quality of life domain. Regarding the TMMS-24 questionnaire, 59.1% should improve their perception, 48.3% have an adequate level of comprehension, and 51% have adequate regulation. The level of emotional intelligence positively influences both the perception of quality of work life (QWL) and the type of stress coping strategies that are used.Conclusions: Emotional intelligence has a significant influence on young professionals’ perception of QWL, and thus on their work performance; therefore, their comprehensive training requires the inclusion of emotional competences in the different curricula in order to counteract the negative effects of work stress to improve their perception of QWL, so that, this way, they have a better work performance and a higher productivity when they enter the labor market.
