Continuous transport systems, including rope conveyors designed to move people and goods, are subject to very strict safety and energy efficiency requirements. As a rule, suspended cableways in operation have an unregulated electric drive with a smooth start system. Among the ways to meet these requirements is the use of modern regulated electric drives. The electromechanical system with a vector-controlled asynchronous electric motor is considered in the work. Based on the obtained model, within the framework of the MATLAB / Simulink application package, an investigation of the dynamic characteristics of the cableway electric drive was carried out. An analysis of the nature of the distribution of dynamic error in terms of speed and energy losses depending on the load and speed of movement of the rope traction element of the transport system is given. The results presented in the article make it possible to choose rational electric drives for continuous transport systems with rope traction elements. References 5, figures 5, table.

The paper introduces the results of mathematical simulation of the operating modes of an asynchronous motor when powered by a sinusoidal voltage source and a width-modulated voltage pulse source. The study shows the possibilities of increasing the energy efficiency of an asynchronous electric drive. Findings of research show the feasibility of studying the switching of the motor power source from a pulse width-modulated voltage to a sinusoidal voltage source in the nominal operating mode in order to increase the energy efficiency of the electric drive

This paper considers issues related to increasing energy efficiency in electric drives of pilger rolling mills, presenting kinematics of such mills, provides justification for the general load chart, presents the detailed review of reference materials on technical energy saving solutions, and suggests a math model of an electric drive with a field regulated reluctance machine. The paper suggests key methods of saving energy in electric drives of pilger mills, namely: kinematic scheme improvement; main energy drainers and ways of energy loss reduction in electric drives with direct- and alternate-current motors, energy-saving electric drive control profiles. The article compares energy-saving resources in electric drives with various-type motors (direct-current motors, synchronous motors, and field regulated reluctance machine), clarifies the scheme of energy-saving resource implementation, provides the qualitative evaluation of electric drive control method efficiency. The accent is made on high energy efficiency of the proportionate control of armature and excitation circuits and across the range of torque in electric drives of abruptly-variable-load mills. The highest economic effect is reached in the electric drive with a field regulated reluctance machine – by means of implementing the energy-efficient electromechanical converter and applying energy-saving control profiles.

Abstract The review of technical solutions and schematic characteristics of auxiliary drives for traction vehicles has shown that the most rational variant is an electric drive with an induction machine. Given the operating modes of the auxiliary drives and the share of their power consumption in the total locomotive power, the task of using scalar control systems for induction machines becomes relevant. Based on a mathematical model describing the dynamic energy conversion processes in the T-shape substitution circuit of an induction motor, taking into account stator steel losses and current displacement effects in the rotor winding and saturation along the main magnetic path, possibilities for reducing stator current have been investigated. In order to improve the energy efficiency of electric drives two variants of control system have been proposed. One based on search method of self-tuning to the stator current minimum and the other - on maintaining the power factor of induction motor at the level that ensures equality of active and reactive components of stator current. The hardware and software requirements for implementing control systems have been analysed. Modelling using Matlab has shown that both control systems work - power loss reduction can be as low as 50% and as high as 60% in certain modes.

The article presents new highly effective methods of milling shaped surfaces, which are implemented on four-and five-coordinate CNC machines. For their implementation, three simultaneously coordinated movements of the machine’s organs are used. To implement the proposed milling methods on CNC machines, an electric drive is proposed, built on the basis of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) with a vector control system with a proportional P-speed controller. For this purpose, an ecstatic control information and measurement system with zero static error is proposed. Comparative results of mathematical modeling of transient processes in electric drives with the standard and proposed control systems are presented.

The aim of this study is to justify a generalized basis model for investigating, evaluating and comparing the energy efficiency of the individual and the grouped mechanical handling machines and systems. Based on a conducted analysis and developed model technological schemes of the systems for continuous transport, dependencies are drawn for determining the basis power and minimizing the potential energy losses in loads passages, the losses of height and potential energy in the systems’ auxiliary elements as well as the total energy losses. Additional indices for basis evaluation of the energy efficiency of the continuous-transport-systems technological schemes, regardless of the systems’ type and scope, are developed and systematized.

The article deals with the problems of increasing the multi-engine electric drive energy efficiency on the example of the cropped cord production line in manufacture of tires. There are requirements for line electric drives that can have an impact both each other and the overall power grid in the mode of technological braking, as well as the requirements for the availability of protection functions and mutual coordination with the mains supply. To solve this problem, options have been developed to build reversible frequency converters on fully controlled (locked) keys as part of frequency-regulated technological electric drives in the production of cord for car tires with energy recovery. The construction of the reversible frequency converter with the use of autonomous voltage inverters, as well as the results of computer simulations in the reactor and non-reactor circuits of reversible frequency converters in the composition of multi-motor electric drives with a total DC bus are shown.

AbstractThis article addresses the automatic optimization of driving speeds in conveying systems. Electric drives in existing conveying systems are usually accelerated and decelerated according to predetermined movement profiles. Such an approach is inflexible for conveying applications with changing constraints and, in many cases, not optimal with respect to energy efficiency. In the present work, a method for automatic computation of energy efficient movement profiles is proposed. The proposed method is based on accurate models for electric drives and several types of conveying applications such as roll conveyors, belt conveyors and vertical conveyors. Furthermore, joint energy efficiency optimization for two drives, which are attached to an intermediate circuit, is investigated. Thereby, additional constraints on the energy flow between the drives are imposed in order to reduce load peaks and energy feedback into the grid. The resulting optimization problem is a mixed integer quadratic program (MIQP), which can be solved in a few milliseconds. Experimental results show that energy losses of electric drives are cut down by using the obtained non-trivial movement profiles instead of standard trapezoid movement profiles. The additional constraints on the energy flow between two drives lead to further significant improvements with respect to the overall energy losses.

In the modern oil industry, the vast majority of oil production units are represented by sucker rod pumping units, driven mainly by asynchronous electric motors without using any monitoring, control and regulation means. Studies carried out on such installations show their low energy efficiency and reliability. Therefore, the issue of developing complex electric drives of a new generation based on the use of synchronous valve electric motors is relevant allowing to significantly increase the energy efficiency and reliability of both individual installations and to ensure the creation of "smart" oil field control systems. The paper discusses new technical solutions of the experimental stand which makes it possible to study the energy characteristics of electric drives based on asynchronous and synchronous valve electric motors, as well as allowing to create conditions as close as possible to real field conditions with imitation of the operation of an oil pumping unit of a sucker rod pumping unit. In modern test equipment systems, devices are often used to create a mechanical load on the shaft of the electric motor under study. The system proposed and implemented as such a device is "a frequency converter - load asynchronous electric motor", which has been tested on a stand and has proven to be the best in comparison with traditional circuits using DC motors. But using of a load asynchronous electric motor as part of the test stand has revealed a number of disadvantages: overheating of the electric motor operating in the opposing mode, low accuracy of creating the load torque and the speed of the system's response. The problem of overheating of the load electric motor has been solved by transferring the frequency converter to the direct torque control mode, while a significant decrease in the motor current and stabilization of the temperature regime have been detected. The low accuracy and response speed of the system have been increased by introducing feedback and a PID controller into the stand control system.
