This research examines the effect of innovative capability, knowledge management and intellectual capital (intangible assets) on competitive advantage and firm performance (studies on budget accommodation in Semarang). The increasing number of hotels in Semarang city is an intriguing phenomenon; considering the background of the city itself for its lack of fame on its tourism business. However, it does not hinder investors’ intention to keep opening their businesses in the area of accommodation services. The results of the pre-research interview stated that the increasing competition made the occupancy level troubling for the accommodating service entrepreneurs, both budget accommodation and standard and upper-class hotels. This research processed 50 samples consisting of 1 - 3 star hotels, budget hotels (non-star ones) and guesthouses. The data collection method was collected by spreading out questionnaire form to the respondents. Furthermore, the data was processed using analysis tool known as Partial Least Square (PLS). This study concludes that innovative capability, knowledge management, and intellectual capital which are part of the intangible assets of the firm have a positive effect on competitive advantage. Furthermore, competitive advantage also has a positive influence on firm performance. This study provides managerial implications that budget accommodation service entrepreneurs are able to improve their competitive advantage and firm performance through understanding and managing their intangible assets. Keywords: firm performance, competitive advantage, innovative capability, knowledge management, intellectual capital.

The purpose of this research is to better understand the impact of supply chain management (SCM) and flexibility on firm performance, as well as the role of competitive advantage in mediating the model in Indonesian agriculture companies. Companies must apply supply chain management and supply chain flexibility (SCF) to boost industrial competitiveness, which impacts firm performance. To ensure that supply chain management supports the company's strategy, companies must evaluate supply chain concerns. From the literature search, researchers have not found any published studies or articles on SCM and SCF in their influence on firm performance through competitive advantage, specifically for corn companies in Indonesia. The population in this study includes agriculture companies in Indonesia. Sampling was carried out using probability sampling technique, the total population of 200 obtained a sample size of 133.333 which can be rounded up to 134 research samples. The inferential statistical method used in the data analysis of this study was the Partial Least Square Version 3 program. The study found that SCM influenced firm performance and SCF had a direct influence on firm performance. However, competitive advantage variable failed in being a mediator in SCM and SCF on firm performance.

This study aims to determine the effect of intellectual capital on market value with financial performance as an intervening variable: evidence from banking companies in Indonesia and Malaysia. The analysis tool uses Partial Least Square to test hypotheses. The results of this study are intellectual capital affects the financial performance of banking companies in Indonesia but does not affect the banking companies in Malaysia. Intellectual capital does not affect the market value of banking companies in Indonesia but affects banks in Malaysia. Financial performance affects market value in Indonesian banking companies but does not affect banking companies in Malaysia. For indirect or mediation effects, the result is that financial performance can mediate the effect of intellectual capital on market value in banking companies in Indonesia but not for banks in Malaysia. Banking companies must pay attention to intellectual capital management because of its impact on financial performance and market value. The market will give a higher valuation to companies that have increased financial performance. Next, companies with improved financial performance will be responded positively to the market so that it will increase market value.

The purpose of this study was to examine the role of environmental consciousness and green intellectual capital (GIC) for green competitive advantage. The association between environmental consciousness and each component of GIC—green human capital, green relational capital, green structural capital—is tested in this study. Tests are also carried out to examine the association of each GIC element with green competitive advantage. Data were collected using an online questionnaire. A total of 237 questionnaires were sent to the CEOs of medium manufacturing companies in Bali Province, Indonesia. There were 72 returned questionnaires that could be analyzed (a 30.37% usable response rate). Data analysis was performed using variance-based structural equation modelling with the partial least square (SEM-PLS) approach with WarpsPLS 7.0. The findings show that there is a positive and significant association between environmental consciousness and each component of GIC: environmental consciousness with green human capital, environmental consciousness with green relational capital and environmental consciousness with green structural capital. The findings also demonstrate that each component of GIC has a significant positive association with green competitive advantage: green human capital with green competitive advantage, green relational capital with green competitive advantage and green structural capital with green competitive advantage. This research implies that going green through the adoption of green practices can contribute to green competitive advantage.
