ABSTRACTSeveral series of sodali te analogues of unit cell composition M8X2(TO2)12, where M is Zn or Cd, X is a chalcogen, and T is a tetrahedral cation B, or Be in combination with Si or Ge, have been prepared. An M4X tetrahedron, which is the first coordination sphere of the bulk semiconductor MX, sits at the center of each sodalite cage. These materials have been structurally characterized by solid state 77Se and 125STe MAS NMR and by powder X-ray diffraction. Diffuse reflectance optical absorption spectra are reported for each series. The borates have optical properties similar to the bulk MX whereas the beryllosilicates and germanates exhibit large blue shifts in the absorption spectra.

AbstractSolid-state chemistry has been used to control both the size and the interconnection distance of small II-VI semiconductor moeities incorporated in zeolitic hosts with the sodalite-type structure. Structural characterization was carried out using X-ray Rietveld powder methods, and optical properties of these materials were also measured. These novel materials show quantum superlattice effects as evidenced by blue shifts in their optical absorption spectra.

A series of dodecyl 1-thio-β-D-glycosides has been synthesized and characterized (DSC, NMR, CP MAS, X-ray diffraction) as possible new marking materials with liquid-crystalline properties. These compounds undergo solid to liquid crystal phase transitions at various temperatures, which depend on the nature of the carbohydrate part of the structure. Their liquid-crystalline phases show extreme shear thinning behaviour.Key words: liquid crystal, powder X-ray diffraction, phase transition, thioglycoside, solid-state NMR, marking material

The synthesis and optical characterization of novel single-benzene ESIPT-based fluorophores is described in solid state and in solution. Special attention is given towards the influence of their unique substitution pattern on their optical properties. Depending on this pattern, aggregation induced emission or aggregation caused quenching (ACQ) is observed in the solid state.<br>

Group II-VI compounds have been investigated largely in last two decades due to their interesting optoelectronic properties. ZnTe, a member of this family, possesses a bandgap around 2.26eV. This material is now a day investigated in thin film form due to its potential towards various viable applications. In this paper, the authors report their investigations on the preparation of ZnTe thin films using vacuum evaporation technique and their structural and optical characterizations. The structural characterization, carried out using an X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique shows that ZnTe used in present case possesses a cubic structure. Using the same data, the micro strain and dislocation density were evaluated and found to be around 1.465×10-3lines-m2and 1.639×1015lines/m2respecctively. The optical characterization carried out in UV-VIS-NIR region reveals the fact that band gap of ZnTe is around 2.2eV in present case. In addition to this, it was observed that the value of bandgap decreases as the thickness of films increases. The direct transitions of the carries are involved in ZnTe. Using the data of UV-VIS-NIR spectroscopy, the transmission coefficient and extinction coefficient were also calculated for ZnTe thin films. Besides, the variation of extinction coefficient with wavelength has also been discussed here.

K-Ta mixed oxides photocatalysts have been prepared by impregnation followed by calcination. The influence of the reaction temperature (450°C–900°C) on the phase formation, crystal morphology, and photocatalytic activity in hydrogen generation of the produced materials was investigated. The detailed analysis has revealed that all products exhibit high crystallinity and irregular structure. Moreover, two different crystal structures of potassium tantalates such as KTaO3and K2Ta4O11were obtained. It was also found that the sample composed of KTaO3and traces of unreacted Ta2O5(annealed at 600°C) exhibits the highest activity in the reaction of photocatalytic hydrogen generation. The crystallographic phases, optical and vibronic properties were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and diffuse reflectance (DR) UV-vis and resonance Raman spectroscopic methods, respectively. Morphology and chemical composition of the produced samples were studied using a high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HR-TEM) and an energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDX) as its mode.

Hospho-material of olivine, LiMnPO4 identified as promising for cathode material generation next Lithium-ion battery and has been successfully synthesized by solid-state method with Li2Co3, 2MnO2, 2NH4H2PO4 as raw material. The influence of initial concentration of precursors at kalsinasi temperatures (400-800 ° C) flows with nitrogen. The purity and composition phase verified by x-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), spectroscopy, energy Dispersive x-ray Analysis (EDS), Raman spectra. General investigation shows that there is a correlation between the concentration of precursors, the temperature and the temperature of sintering kalsinasi that can be exploited to design lithium-ion next generation.

Methyl ammonium lead iodide CH3NH3PbI3 Perovskite was synthesized by a new method mixing between one and two steps, in addition, the ethanol solvent was used to dissolve CH3NH3I and compared with isopropanol solvent. The characterizations of synthesized perovskite samples included the structural properties, morphological characteristics and optical properties. The intensity and orientation in X-ray diffraction patterns appear clearly in ethanol solvent while disappearing at a peak at 12o due to the speed reaction of perovskite in this solvent. Additionally, the ethanol solvent increasing the grain size of perovskite which homogeneity of the surface morphology. the ethanol solvent cause a decrease in the wavelength of absorbance edge in addition to an increase in the energy bandgap value. The preparation and characterization of tris-pyridyl bispidine (3,7-diazabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane) derivatives with benzimidazole and imidazole donor groups at the N-3 position of the bispidine skeleton and their copper(II) complexes are reported. The impact of the hetaryl substituents on the configurational isomerism of piperidones and their corresponding bispidones has been studied by NMR spectroscopy, revealing the exclusive appearance in the enol form for the piperidones in solution and the trans-configuration regarding the two pyridyl substituents, as well as the sole formation of the unsymmetric exo-endo isomers for the corresponding bispidones. Thus, the bispidones are preorganized ligands for building pentacoordinated complexes, confirmed by the preparation and characterization of the corresponding Cu(II) complexes. Of the di-pyridyl piperidones with benzimidazole and imidazole substituents, and of the Cu(II) complex of the benzimidazole-containing bispidone, crystals have become available for the analysis by X-ray diffraction, showing that the piperidones form the enol tautomers also in the solid state.

3Y-TZP powder has been successfully synthesized by gel solid-state method. The structural phases of powder particles were analyzed by X-ray diffraction and the morphology was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. The average size of grains was 230 nm. The sintering behavior, mechanical properties and microstructure of 3Y-TZP ceramics sintered by this powder were investigated. The experiment results showed that the mechanical properties of ceramics were excellent.
