One of the most serious problems of modern medicine is sepsis. The number of patients undergoing this complication is 20–30 million (WHO) annually and has no tendency to decrease. Sepsis is characterized by severe multiple organ failure due to a violation of the response of the macroorganism to an infectious agent. Moreover, it is dangerous with high mortality. Sepsis often develops in patients with immunodeficiency conditions, which primarily include pregnant women. The article presents a clinical observation of a case of periostitis in a pregnant woman complicated by a septic state.

IntroductionExhibitionistic disorder may be present when there is sexual arousal from the exposure of one's genitals to an unsuspecting and nonconsenting person. This disorder prevalence is unknown but we know it is highly unusual in females. It generally starts at adolescence and its course is likely to vary with age. There are temperamental and environmental risk factors. Most of what we know about exhibitionistic disorder is largely based on research with individuals convicted for criminal acts involving genital exposure, and this may represent an important bias. From a clinical case of exhibitionism, the authors intend to review this type of paraphilia from an historical, conceptual and etiologic point of view.ObjectiveTo review the concept behind this diagnosis and its evolution, the comprehensive theories that attempt to justify and frame it, as well as the type of intervention currently considered to be the state of the art.MethodsPatient's observation and assessment, along with an extensive review of the relevant literature.ConclusionsStarting from a real clinical case, the authors present a general theoretical review on the subject.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Meckels diverticulum is a sac-like bulge of the wall of ileum formed in result of incomplete closure of the viteline duct that participates in nutrition of the embryo. Aim. To familiarize a wide community of colleagues with an interesting clinical case of a foreign body (a coin) in Meckels diverticulum. In the article, approaches to diagnostics and operative treatment of such patients are given. This clinical observation is of interest to abdominal surgeons from the point of view that Meckels diverticulum is most commonly identified by clinical symptoms present in diverticulitis, bleeding or perforating ulcer, in intestinal obstruction caused by formation of a node or of invagination. Conclusion. A situation in which a blunt-ended foreign body permitted to identify Meckels diverticulum, is described as casuistically rare.

Abstract Languages for special purposes have mainly been considered from the point of view that they are specialized, i.e. that they satisfy the terminological needs of expression of specialized groups. The purpose of this contribution is to demonstrate that specialized discourses such as university lectures may make specific use of ordinary language devices. An analysis of sections from German lectures in physics and mechanical engineering reveals that deictics play a special role in propositional  composition. The findings are relevant for the general principles of linguistic science and knowledge transfer as well as for teaching German as a first or second academic language. Schlagwörter: Sprache wissenschaftlicher Lehre – Deixis – Physik – Maschinenbau – propositionale Komposition Key words: Language of academic teaching – deictics – physics – mechanical engineering – propositional composition

Type as Image: Eliciting Emotions is a project of VCDE233 Typography II (Constanza Pacher) and VCDI223 Design and Pre-Press Production (Jess Dupuis), both courses in the Design Studies Diploma Program at MacEwan University. Students were asked to capture the essence of the book Indian Horse, by Richard Wagamese, and translate it into a three-poster series using typography as the main element. Under the premise that the visual form is dictated by the content, students were encouraged to analyze plot, characters, point of view, imagery, tone, themes and symbolism to extract key words, sentences and passages as the basis for their designs. Students were asked to challenge literal interpretations by exploring the use of expressive typography and text and image relationships.

The widespread prevalence of comorbid pathology determines the relevance of this problem. Comorbid pathology due to the interaction of diseases, drug pathomorphism, age characteristics of the patient, significantly changes clinical picture and course of the main nosology, affects severity of complications and their nature, significantly affects quality of life and prognosis of patients. Diagnosis and treatment of many diseases is complicated in the conditions of comorbidity. The article presents a clinical case of a comorbid patient with arterial hypertension from the moment of exposure to risk factors and ending with the formation of many concomitant diseases, as an example of trans-nosological comorbidity.
