The experiment was carried out in agricultural land in Sorman between 4 - 2017 to 7 - 2017, in the design of Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) to study the response of vegetative traits and chemical properties in the tomato plant of Tariz for organic fertilization, by 6 treatments and 3 replicates, For SPSS statistical analysis at a significant level of LSD 0.05). The experiment included four types of semi-decomposed organic fertilizer (sheep manure, cattle manure, camel manure, horse manure) in 6 treatments, in addition to the control treatment, which included four treatments for each type of organic fertilizer as: fertilizer: soil by ratio (1: 3) that is 5Kg of fertilizer : 15 kg of soil, mixed treatment of fertilizer : soil (1: 1) (10 kg of fertilizer: 10 kg of soil), and double treatment (3: 1) (15 kg of fertilizer: 5 kg soil). The seedlings were planted in experimental units of 7.20 m2. The seedlings were treated in biological control using the garlic extract for insect protection after 15 days of planting, as well as the addition of simple proportions of hay as a cover to reduce the growth of herbs. The experiment showed that the treatment of cattle manure significantly increased most of the studied morphological traits (length of root, plant length, number of flowers, number of leafy branches), as well as significant increase in fresh and dry weight of leaves and average weight of five fruits.. There were significant differences in the content of the N, P in leaves and NPK elements in the fruits, while there was a significant increase in vitamin C content in fruits for all treatments.

<p>Soil application of raw winery wastes is a procedure of doubtful appropriateness, mainly because of waste properties, i.e. very acidic pH; high electrical conductivity; and high content of polyphenols. The disposal of winery waste on soils may cause various environmental and health hazards as for example soil overloading with polyphenols and salts, phytotoxicity to plants, odor nuisance etc. Pathogens, which may still be present in the decomposed material could spread plants and soil diseases, while waste piles attract insects, pests, domestic rodents and wildlife which may threaten public and animal health. Despite these facts, many wine producers discharge winery waste to the nearby agricultural or forest ecosystems, without treatment although this type of agricultural waste could be a significant source of organic matter and nutrients.</p><p> </p><p>In general, degradation of winery waste is a slow procedure which becomes even slower under the xerothermic climatic conditions in Greece, which may slow down the microbially mediated decomposition of organic matter and nutrients cycling; degradation of winery waste piles takes more than 5 years to be completed naturally. However, the final products are of doubtful appropriateness for fertilization use, mainly because of low quality organic matter and low nutrients content (lost mainly due to the exposure of piles to uncontrolled environmental conditions for years).</p><p> </p><p>This study aims to highlight the advantages of composting winery wastes by using also other agricultural wastes and additives as feedstock to produce a safe and environment friendly compost, appropriate for application to agricultural ecosystems. For this a 41 hectares vineyard in North Greece of about 400 tn grapes yield annually and generation of approximately 100 tn of waste was selected. Winery waste was collected after harvesting and wine-making period of 2018 and composted with cow manure, wheat straw and clinoptilolite up to 5%.</p><p> </p><p>Composting phase lasted 5 months, and during this period the pile was monitored as regard temperature, moisture and oxygen content. After composting completion, the final product was fully characterized in terms of its physical and chemical properties, considering national legislation organic materials reuse on soils. The outcomes of this study show a great potential for managing such waste types by composting using clinoptilolite in the feedstock materials since the final product has suitable physical and chemical properties for many crops, i.e. slight alkaline pH, low electrical conductivity, low polyphenol content and high content of available nutrient, therefore can be used as soil amendment or organic fertilizer.</p>

Calcination of Christmas Island C-grade ore at temperatures up to 1050�C produces phosphorus fertilizers that differ greatly in effectiveness as determined by citrate extraction and plant growth. Maximum effectiveness is obtained by calcination at temperatures between 500� and 650�C, and is best predicted by extractions of between 1 and 3 h duration in neutral ammonium citrate. Alkaline ammonium citrate and citric acid are poorer indicators of phosphorus availability. The mineralogical and chemical properties of the calcines may be used to explain variations in amounts of citrate soluble phosphorus for different temperatures of calcination. Incubation of moist 500�C calcined C-grade ore induces recrystallization (i.e. reversion) of some crandallite, resulting in a decrease in the solubility of phosphorus in neutral ammonium citrate and its availability to plants.

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is one of the world’s most important cultivated vegetable. In the traditionalcultivation methods, the excessive use of pesticides and fertilizers leads to an imbalance of nutrient elements in the soil, an increase in pests and diseases and a decrease in vegetable quality and yield. In the face of increasingly serious environmental and food problems, organic agriculture is considered to be an effective solution. In this experiment, the effects of organic cultivation patterns on the growth, quality, disease resistance in tomatoes, and the physical and chemical properties of soil were studied by different treatments. The results showed that the application of effective microorganisms (EM) bio-organic fertilizer in the cultivation process can significantly improve the yield, quality, and antioxidant enzyme activity of tomato. The use of straw mulching was found to significantly increase the growth, chlorophyll content, transpiration rate, and soluble sugar content of tomatoes. The application of EM bio-organic fertilizer or straw mulching significantly increased the activity of antioxidant enzyme and the expression of LeCHI gene in tomato leaves and enhanced tomato resistance to diseases. Organic production practices were found to significantly improve the soil.

Organic fertilizer applications improve the growth of vegetable crops and chemical properties in the tailings deposition area at Timika, Papua, Indonesia. Nusantara Bioscience 12: 134-142. This study aimed to observe growth responses of selected vegetable crops grown in the media of inactive tailings, the available nutrients (macro and microelements) in fresh tailings before and after planting, as well as the metal uptake by plant tissues. Research was conducted using Randomized Block Design with three treatments of organic matter (chicken manure, cow manure, and compost of Salvinia natans) to observe the response on growth and yield of kangkong, red spinach, tomato, and chili. Based on the geochemical data, the ratio of ANC/MPA ranged from 3.81 (0-20 cm) to 4.60 (20-40 cm). There was no acid potential, with ANC ratio > 1.5 x MPA, and this result was supported by soil pH, which was alkaline in both depths of tailings media, ranging from 7.94 (0-20 cm) to 7.90 (20-40 cm). There was no significant effect on the chemical properties in the first period before and after planting for three months of planting period, except for the application with organic fertilizers. The best organic fertilizers applied in fresh tailings were chicken manure, followed by the compost of S. natans and cow manure. These organic fertilizers produced good growth and yield components of kangkong, red spinach, tomato, and chili. Meanwhile, the lowest growth and yield response of these crops was shown by control (without compost or manure). The level of metal uptake by all vegetables was low, suggesting that these vegetables are safe to be consumed.
