ABSTRACT Objective to identify nurses’ perception on the usefulness of information and communication technologies in their professional practice, as well as in communication among the multidisciplinary team. Method this is a quantitative, descriptive study, of exploratory character, carried through with 3.451 nurses from 36 hospital institutions of Portugal. A questionnaire was used as a data collection instrument. In data analysis, using SPSS® resorted to descriptive statistics. Results of the nine technologies under study, we found that regarding their usefulness in professional practice, nurses qualified as useful or very useful: Intranet (84.3%), email (79.5%), SClínico® (74.8%), Nursing Practice Support System (70.9%), Physician Support System (63.2%), newsletter (62.9), ALERT® (59.4%), Health Data Platform (42.8%) and SONHO® (31.8). Regarding its usefulness in communication among the multidisciplinary team, nurses qualified as useful or very useful: email (75.2%), Intranet (74.2%), SClínico (72.5%), Nursing Practice Support System (67.1%), Physician Support System (63.6%), ALERT® (58.9%), newsletter (57.2), Health Data Platform (40.1%) and SONHO® (29.4%). Conclusion despite the usefulness of technologies presenting relevant percentages, it is pertinent to analyze why nurses’ perceived usefulness is superior to Intranet and email when compared with specific technologies of care data used in the hospital context.

Like what happened to the Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities have become abundant in our lives as well. One of the smart city definitions commonly used is that smart cities solve city problems to enhance citizens’ life quality and make cities sustainable. From the perspective of information and communication technologies (ICT), we think this can be done by collecting and analyzing data to generate insights. The City Data Hub, which is a standard-based city data platform that has been developed, and a couple of problem-solving examples have been demonstrated. The key elements for smart city platforms have been chosen and they have been included in the core architecture principles and implemented as a platform. It has been proven that standard application programming interfaces (APIs) and common data models with data marketplaces, which are the keys, increase interoperability and guarantee ecosystem extensibility.

The article analyzes the peculiarities of participation in volunteering activities of socially active students who are ready to be included in the format of cooperation in solving various problems of volunteer support facilities that can demonstrate flexible strategies for interacting with them and actively use their own personal resources to achieve effectiveness in the implementation of such work. The psychological analysis of the content and essence of the phenomenon of student volunteering has been carried out. It is clarified the necessity and peculiarities of the formation of a multidisciplinary team of experienced and young specialists in various fields with the aim of providing comprehensive volunteer assistance, the success of communication of which will be largely determined by the ability to use modern information and communication technologies in the process of volunteer interaction. It has been proven that one of the important factors for ensuring effective and well-coordinated work of a multidisciplinary team is the personal resources of each subject of volunteering activities. It has been established that the subjective resources of students involved in volunteering are determined by their readiness to use information and communication technologies in team collaboration, the search for opportunities and ways to use information and communication technologies to unite team efforts in the process of providing volunteer assistance and developing individual style of volunteering. It was determined that the qualified use of information and communication technologies in volunteering activities of students will help to identify and introduce effective methods, techniques, and means of volunteering, which in the format of active interaction will help not only achieve the goal of volunteer support, but also stimulate the development of personal resources of volunteer students . It is stated that there is a contradiction between the understanding of volunteer students of the importance and possibilities of information and communication technologies for combining team efforts to provide volunteer assistance and the lack of readiness to use them in the practice of volunteering.

Information and communication technologies based on formative research are of great importance for achieve competent professionals in the labor and research sphere and in the adequate preparation of teachers with the consequent accompaniment to students with effective tutorial processes during their academic training en Nursing. An observational, descriptive study was carried out between August 2018 and August 2019, in which a population of 704 students was worked; a semi-structured questionnaire was prepared and a group interview was applied to 32 Nursing professors at the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil, who taught their subjects in the different Units of Basic Curricular Organization (Basic, Pre-professional and Degree). It was found that the motivation for the realization of scientific works by the professors still found in the initial state (67.24 %); the 26.55 % of the students respond that there is a lack of systematic planning of actions and strategies in terms of linking research in the context of pre-professional practice and acquired skills, and construction of the research projects; and only 22 % manifest it is useful to be able to select and prepare their information, which demonstrates that the existing methodology in the program has yet to be adjusted for such effects.
