El artículo analiza los ámbitos del desarrollo urbano y las perspectivas humano-ambientales en el marco de las relaciones entre los procesos urbanos y los sistemas socioecológicos. A partir de identificar algunas tendencias de los procesos de urbanización en América Latina y conforme a guías conceptuales y metodológicas para la generación de conocimiento interdisciplinario, se discuten las rutas temáticas de dos agendas multilaterales (HÁBITAT III y SIPAM) hacia el desarrollo urbano ambientalmente sustentable y resiliente, en particular en el contexto de los principios socioecológicos de la agricultura de chinampas en la Ciudad de México, incluyendo algunas directrices para su consolidación.   Abstract The article analyses the fields of urban development and human-environment perspectives in the framework of urban processes and socioecological systems relationships. From identifying some trends of urbanization processes in Latin America and according to conceptual and methodological guidelines for the generation of interdisciplinary knowledge, the thematic routes of two multilateral agendas (HÁBITAT III y GIAHS) for environmentally sustainable urban development and resilience are discussed, particularly in the context of the socioecological principles of chinampas agriculture in Mexico City, including some guidelines for its consolidation.

This research aimed to analyze the effectiveness or not of the application of progressive IPTU (Urban property and land tax) over time in the implementation of sustainable urban development. This is a bibliographic research, made from primary and secondary sources, such as the Federal Constitution of 1988, the infra-constitutional legislation, jurisprudences and bibliographies relevant to the subject matter. With this, paths were taken that lead to the possibility of such an instrument of urban policy being considered a tribute with environmentally sustainable purposes capable of achieving sustainable urban development. In view of the legislative, doctrinal and jurisprudential analysis, its ineffectiveness of application was revealed, realizing the need for regulation and application consistent with the constitutional normative system and the City Statute, as well as structural support and capitation of civil servants, in addition to greater social participation in its control.

Under the basic premise that an economy and its territory as a socioeconomic entity, are inscribed into a nation’s space. Accordingly, the concomitant sustainable handling of its natural resources and people ́s well-being depends on myriad factors among which stands out firstly, the country's own socioeconomic dynamics and secondly, but not least important, the political capacity of the State ́s intervention into the economy, as the foremost legal entity capable to advance the nation ́s economic strategy, to simultaneously foment growth and social well-being into the nation. Upon this premise, the article aims at analyzing the socioeconomic implications and multiple externalities derived from the neoliberal economic strategy implemented by Mexico in the last decades, with particular reference to the country ́s current urban imbalances around the country ́s top 15 municipalities including Mexico City to demonstrate its failure and the compelling need to reorient it towards a more balanced, social-inclusive and sustainable urban development. Time ́s horizon for this analysis ranges from 1980-2018.

The aim of this study is to develop a model for institutionalizing the social and environmental responsibility of the construction business as an important factor in the modern urban development. Methods of systems, logical and comparative analysis, as well as a questionnaire survey are used in the research. Based on the situation in Tomsk (Russia), public preferences and needs for construction products have been examined taking into account environmental friendliness and the quality of the urban environment. The results of the examination are presented in this paper. The study reveals the public need for building products and shows how these needs are related to greening the construction industry and developing the social and environmental responsibility of the construction business. The green urban development needs an environmentally sustainable regulation mechanism based on appropriate methods, tools and organizational forms of interactions between stakeholders in the construction industry. A concept for managing interactions between stakeholders in urban development is proposed on the basis of the ECOURBANBUILD platform. The integration based on this platform will create additional opportunities to implement the social and environmental responsibility of the construction business in the interests of sustainable urban development.

The City

Rapidly changing framework conditions for city development such as globalization, demographic trends, deindustrialization, technological developments or the increasing urbanization as well as the economic, social and political changes are profound and change our urban life. This leads, that the cities of tomorrow will differ essentially from today´s city principles. Therefore innovative, strategically wise and quick action becomes a criterion for success. Here, more than ever, local conditions and requirements must be taken into account as well as global framework conditions. The responsible parties have to set the course so that the “City” remains competitive and sustainable in the future. Therefore, innovation processes and sustainable strategies for dealing with the diverse and complex agendas of a city in dialogue with those who are responsible for it must be initiated and management systems established so that new things can develop continuously and systematically. This work illustrates how the boundaries created to manage and market future liveable and sustainable city destinations are the root of the practical and academic problems that trouble city management these days.  This paper aims to develop the new integrated Smart Urban Profiling and Management model, which presents a new integrated approach for city marketing as an instrument of sustainable urban development. In this way, comprehensive research was conducted to evaluate if the holistic city marketing concept that integrates elements of smart city strategies and adaptive management is a more suitable instrument and integrative process than conventional city marketing in order to improve the sustainable urban development. Therefore, in this work, the designed “Smart Urban Profiling and Management model” for city management introduces an alternative and holistic perspective that allows transcending past boundaries and thus getting closer to the real complexities of managing city development in dynamic systems. The results offer the opportunity to recognize the city and consequently allow to developing successful strategies and implementation measures. This study targets to contribute to this endeavor in order to produce new impulses and incitements in the city management field and shall provide a fresh impetus for a new understanding of city marketing as the initiator of development processes, mobilization and moderator in concerning communication and participation processes. This paper is written from a perspective addressing those responsible for the city- management, city- & urban marketing and development.
