Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms. is a very dangerous adverse drug effect causing rashes, eosinophilia, and multiple organ damage. Many drugs are implicated in causing DRESS with most common ones being antimicrobials and antiepileptics. Dapsone used in the treatment of Hansen’s disease as a first-line agent is known for causing many side effects ranging from nausea, vomiting, insomnia, anaphylaxis, hypersensitivity reactions, rashes, muscle weakness, abdominal pain, and so on. Hence, we report a rare case of dapsone-induced DRESS in a tertiary care hospital in South India. Keywords: Dapsone, Adverse effect, Liver toxicity, Rashes, Eosinophilia.

Splenic abcess is a rare but potentially life threatening condition which can be less frequently caused by gram negative saprophytes, Burkholderia pseudomallei. Because of the challenges faced in the identification of this organism, it is often under diagnosed or misdiagnosed. Here, we report a case of splenic abcess eventually leading to disseminated melioidosis caused by Burkholderia pseudomallei in a 40 year old diabetic male from a tertiary-care hospital in southern India, who presented with fever and pain over left upper abdomen.

SAH in the paediatric population is an uncommon entity accounting for 1-2% of SAH in all age groups & only 18% of ICH in the paediatric population. Trauma is the most common cause of isolated SAH in the paeditric population, with ruptured intracerebral aneurysms although still rare, being the most common cause of spontaneous SAH in children. AVMs are uncommon source of spontaneous SAH. Although they are 10 times more common than cerebral aneurysms in the paediatric population, they rarely present with isolated SAH. This report aims to present such a rare case presented to a tertiary care hospital in Trinidad.

Salmonella typhi is a rare cause of bacterial meningitis in infants accounting for 1% or less of cases. We report a rare case of meningitis in a nine-month-old baby due to Salmonella typhi. A nine-month-old female was admitted to our tertiary care hospital, with a week’s history of fever with rigors and refusal to take feeds.

Hydatid disease is frequent in endemic regions and sheep farming areas. Most common localization of hydatid cyst occurs in liver followed by lungs. Renal hydatid cyst constitutes about 2–4% of all locations. We report a case of left renal hydatid from a laboratory technician admitted in a tertiary care hospital. There were few cases of renal hydatid disease reported in India among general population but to the best of our knowledge never reported from laboratory worker. The possibility of laboratory-acquired infection cannot be ruled out in this case due to lack of precautionary measures and containment facilities in resource-constrained setting.
