Poiretia latifolia Vogel has bioactive potential that includes antibiotic properties for human uses. The aim of this research was to develop an efficient method for vegetative propagation of P. latifolia by using cuttings as an aid to the selection and multiplication of interesting genotypes. In the first experiment, the cuttings were collected in vegetative and reproductive stages and treated with six plant growth regulators and distilled water. In the second experiment, the treatments consisted of cuttings from the apical, median, and basal branch segments. The treatment with the immersion of cuttings in 4,000 mg L-1 of IBA provided greater number and length of the roots, while high dilution of Calcarea phosphorica at 20CH produced longer branches. The cuttings of the middle and basal part of the branch were found to be more viable. It was achieved 79.17% of cuttings rooting using Calcarea phosphorica 20CH. The vegetative propagation employed in this work is a feasible option for the domestication, preservation, and cultivation of Poiretia latifolia.

Plant growth regulators in the germination of Diospyros hispida A. DC. (Ebenaceae) Seed. Diospyros hispida species is a native fruit that has long germination period, hindering seedling production. The aim of this work was to evaluate the germination of Diospyros hispida seeds under the effect of gibberellic acid and biostimulant applications. Four replicates of 25 seeds per treatment were used. Treatments were: T1 - distilled water, T2, T3 and T4 - GA3 solutions at 100, 150 and 200 mg L-1, respectively, T5 - Immersion for 24 hours in distilled water with aeration, T6, T7 and T8 - Immersion for 24 hours in aerated GA3 solutions at 100, 150 and 200 mg L-1, respectively, T9, T10 and T11 - biostimulant application (containing auxin, gibberellin and cytokinin) at 3, 5 and 7 ml kg-1 of seeds. Germination rate, mean germination time, germination speed index, synchronization index, relative germination frequency, normal seedlings, root length, shoot length and seedling dry mass were evaluated. The effect of gibberellic acid and biostimulant containing auxin, gibberellin and cytokinin negatively influenced Diospyros hispida germination under the conditions of this study.

<p>Background &amp; aim: Bioactive compounds and plant growth regulators could change a plant’s essential oil content and composition. In this study, the effect of bioactive compounds and plant growth regulators on lippia citriodora was investigated.<br />Objective: This experiment was done with three replications on the basis of factorial experiment in randomized complete block design. The bio-regulators were sprayed in four levels, i.e. distilled water, 50 ppm gibberellic acid (GA3) + 50 ppm indole-3-butyric acid (IBA), 50 ppm GA3 + 100 ppm IBA, and 100 ppm GA3 + 50 ppm IBA. The chitosan was sprayed in two levels: distilled water and 400 ppm chitosan. The methanol was sprayed in two levels: distilled water and 5% v/v methanol. The essential oil was extracted by hydrodistillation method and analyzed by GC and GC/MS.<br />Results: Thirty-two compounds were identified, representing 95.08% of the total essential oil. The main components were E-citral (geranial) (25.02%), Z-citral (neral) (16.04%), ar-curcumene (10.37%), caryophyllene oxide (9.56%), spathulenol (6.83%), limonene (4.99%) and (E)-caryophyllene (2.29%). The studied traits were significantly affected (p &lt; 0.01) by the interaction of bioregulators, methanol and chitosan application.<br />Conclusion: Foliar application of IBA, GA3, chitosan and methanol could increase aromatic values of L. citriodora essential oil.</p>

Abstract Studies on the propagation of medicinal and ornamental plant species show of great relevance as they contribute to the domestication, cultivation and production of these species. However, there are not enough information concerning the interaction of the different plant growth regulators and the recommended dilution vehicles. This work aimed to evaluate the effects of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and ethanol as rooting inducers, as well as their performance as vehicles for diluting indolebutyric acid (IBA) and naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) in stem cuttings of the species Varronia curassavica and Melaleuca alternifolia. Stem cuttings of both species were submitted to the treatments: control with distilled water, hydroethanolic solution (50% v v-1), NaOH solution in distilled water, indolebutyric acid diluted in hydroethanolic solution, indolebutyric acid diluted in NaOH solution, naphthalene acetic acid diluted in hydroethanolic acid and naphthalene acetic acid diluted in NaOH solution (0.5 N). The design used was completely randomized, with the averages compared by the Scott-Knott test at 5% probability. Better rooting of the cuttings was observed when IBA was applied using both dilution vehicles. For M. alternifolia, percentages of average survival of 26.43% were verified. Rooting was more satisfactory when using NaOH as a dilution vehicle for both IBA (16.66%) and NAA (23.33%). For V. curassavica, IBA (2000 mg L-1) is the most suitable plant regulator, diluted in both hydroethanolic solution and in NaOH, while for M. alternifolia, NaOH is recommended as a dilution vehicle for plant growth regulators NAA (500 mg L-1) and IBA (500 mg L-1). When applied isolated, the dilution vehicles do not stimulate and do not harm the rooting of the two species.

The influence of 24-epibrassinolide on the efficiency of regenerants obtained from embryonic calli formation was studied in wheat cultivars contrast for drought resistance. The possibility of using the experimental model system «immature embryo – embryonic callus – regenerant» in the rapid assessment of the effect of antistress plant growth regulators is shown.
