Ovarian pregnancy is a rare form of ectopic pregnancy, which causes a great diagnostic problem. One of the important risk factors for the development of ovarian pregnancy is the use of intrauterine spirals. The article presents the clinical case of ovarian pregnancy in a 35-yearold woman who underwent an implantation of fertilized egg in the ovary against the background of the vitreous spiral. Transvaginal ultrasonography showed the presence of echogenic formation in the right ovary, in the absence of data for tubal pregnancy.

Ovarian pregnancy is a rare form of ectopic pregnancy, causing a great diagnostic challenge. We report a case of ovarian pregnancy in a 42-year-old woman, in whom MRI successfully demonstrated the implantation in the ovary. Transvaginal ultrasonography showed an echogenic mass in the right ovary but failed to demonstrate tubal pregnancy. T2-weighted MR images disclosed a gestational sac structure in the right ovary, which exhibited heterogeneous high intensity intermingled with punctate foci of distinct low intensity. MRI may be a useful tool for diagnosing ovarian pregnancy, by demonstrating a gestational sac in the ovary.

This article summarizes data on the prevalence, risk factors and the role of external genital endometriosis in the development of ectopic pregnancy. The existing algorithms for the use of conservative therapy of ectopic pregnancy of rare localizations are discussed. The authors presented a clinical case of using methotrexate in the treatment of a patient with infiltrative endometriosis and trophoblast persistence after laparoscopic removal of interstitial tubal pregnancy.

Bilateral tubal pregnancy (BTP) is a very rare form of ectopic twin gestation. Many times, they occur after the use of assisted reproductive therapy. Most cases of BTP are diagnosed during laparoscopy. This case report demonstrates a rare preoperative, sonography diagnosis of a spontaneous BTP which occurred after a tubal ligation. The sonogram revealed two corpus luteal cysts, both located on the right ovary, which suggests that the left tubal pregnancy most likely occurred as a result of ovum transmigration. This case demonstrates the important role that sonography plays in the early diagnosis of ectopic pregnancies as well as the importance of thoroughly examining the entire pelvis during a pelvic sonogram.

Ovarian pregnancy is a rare form of extrauterine ectopic pregnancy. Risk factors such as reproductive treatments and infertility have been identified in recent studies. In this article, we present a case of ovarian ectopic pregnancy occurring following in vitro fertilization treatment and a fresh embryo transfer. The diagnosis of ovarian pregnancy was made during transvaginal sonography performed due to suspected ectopic pregnancy. Ovarian ectopic pregnancy is a rare clinical phenomenon. Late diagnosis and lack of appropriate intervention may have catastrophic results. Several mechanisms and risk factors are proposed, and their acknowledgment may improve early diagnosis and prevention of complications.

Background: Ectopic pregnancy is a global problem and is the most common life-threatening emergency in early pregnancy leading to significant morbidity and fetal loss. It occurs in variable presentations. The rate of ectopic pregnancies has increased from 0.5% in 1970 to 2% today. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence, clinical presentation, risk factors, treatment, and morbidity and mortality associated with ectopic pregnancy. Methods: The present retrospective study was conducted over a period of three years in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at SMS and R, Greater Noida, UP from Feb 2014 to Jan 2017.A total of 80 patients with ectopic pregnancy were analyzed regarding clinical presentation, risk factors, operative findings and treatment modality. Results: Total number of 80 cases of ectopic pregnancies were admitted during this period against 2645 deliveries representing frequency of 3%. Majority of cases (43.75%) were in the age group of 25-29 years and 41.25% were gravida 4 and above. Risk factors were identifiable in 66.25% of cases. Previous abortion was the most common risk factor (31.25%). The classical triad of amenorrhea, pain abdomen and vaginal bleeding was present in 71.25% of cases. More than half of case (55%) had ruptured tubal pregnancy on admission. Unruptured tubal pregnancy was seen in 10% case. Interestingly we found one rare case of bilateral ectopic pregnancy. Salpingectomy by open method was the mainstay of treatment (86.25%).Conclusions: Ectopic pregnancy is still a major challenge in gynecological practice. In our country most of the cases present late after tubal rupture requiring radical surgical treatment. Early diagnosis and timely intervention in the form of medical treatment or conservative surgery not only reduces maternal morbidity but also preserves future fertility.

Heterotopic pregnancy is coexistence of intrauterine and extrauterine pregnancies that is ectopic pregnancies. It is said to be rare. Here we report a case of 27 years old woman with heterotopic pregnancy. Patient had a typical presentation of severe lower abdominal pain following amenorrhoea for 2½ months. On clinical examination, there was suspicion of ectopic pregnancy but ultrasonography revealed early intrauterine pregnancy along with right tubal pregnancy with huge collection in abdomen . Immediate laparotomy was done and diagnosis was confirmed as a case of heterotopic pregnancy.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/bmj.v39i3.9950 BMJ 2010; 39(3)

Background: Ectopic pregnancy is an obstetric emergency with high morbidity and mortality. Incidence of ectopic pregnancies has been increasing in last two to three decades with reduction in mortality. The presenting symptoms include irregular vaginal bleeding. The present study was undertaken to study the clinical features of ectopic pregnancies in a tertiary care hospital. Methods: The present study on ectopic pregnancies was carried out in department of obstetrics and gynaecology, jhalawar medical college, Jhalawar, Rajasthan, India from January 2019 to October 2019. All patients admitted with diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy, either ruptured or unruptured where included in the study. Results: Total 52 patient of ectopic pregnancy were studies. Majority (63.46%) of patients belong to the age group 21-30 years. Ectopic pregnancy was most commonly noted in nulliparous woman (44.23%) Majority of the case (31%) had no risk factors among remaining (34.61%), previous MTP (17%), (17-30%) previous ectopic (9%) and PID (15-38%) were identified risk factors. Ampulla (75%) was the most common site for ectopic pregnancy. 57% of the cases were on the right side. The common presenting complaints were pain in abdomen (81%) bleeding/ spotting per vaginal (42%). There was no mortality. Conclusions: Surgical treatment was done more often because of patients reporting late to the hospital screening of high-risk case, early diagnosis and early intervention reduce the morbidity and mortality in ectopic pregnancies.

Ovarian pregnancy is a rare form of ectopic pregnancy following ICSI-ET, and the diagnosis depends on the physicians suspicion and experience. Preservation of ovarian tissue during surgery is of utmost importance to preserve fertility. We present a case of ovarian pregnancy who had a successful treatment preserving the ovary.
