The fragments of group and individual music lessons which were held in the Moscow Center for Curative Pedagogics with children with emotional and volitional development features are described. To overcome the difficulties of adaptation, establish contact with children and involve them in game interaction, the environmental approach that underlies the work of the center’s specialists is used. The spatio-temporal and emotional characteristics of the therapeutic environment, as well as its semantic content, are considered. Examples are given, practical techniques and instruments of work, developed on the basis of the author’s long standing pedagogical experience, are described.

The article deals with the problem of forming an adaptive "therapeutic" environment for the system of maternity hospitals and perinatal centers that has developed in the country. This problem is considered in a comprehensive manner, highlighting several aspects, such as: socio-historical-cultural, functional planning, architectural-spatial, figurative-semantic aspect. On this basis, the study proposes several promising approaches to creating an adaptive therapeutic environment for maternity facilities using various architectural modernization tools and identifying a number of typological models of such an environment. The following approaches are presented: "urban planning approach", which takes into account the optimization of various options for urban planning placement of maternity hospitals and perinatal centers; “environmental approach”, which allows considering perinatal centers as a set of exterior and interior spaces, commensurate with a person, his behavioral stereotypes, emotional state. "Ecological approach" - involves the introduction of natural components into the interior and exterior of the complex, which makes the period of rehabilitation of women in labor effective. "Architectural and planning approach" - is aimed at improving the functional and planning links of the objects of the perinatal center. "Scenario-functional approach" in the formation of a comfortable therapeutic environment of a medical institution allows us to consider communications in the space of a medical institution as a kind of spatio-temporal scenario on the way of the main routes of movement inside the interiors and exteriors along the "axis": entrance area - admission department - lobby, hall, etc. .d. The "artistic-figurative approach" assumes that a "typical" ward in medical institutions should not be limited only by the technological and functional component, and the comfort of patients' stay should take into account their emotional state. The "compositional approach" to the formation of the therapeutic environment of maternity facilities takes into account the "competent" formation of the architectural space, taking into account the laws of architectural harmonization, aesthetic and compositional principles. The systematization of the identified approaches and directions for designing a comfortable architectural "therapeutic" environment for perinatal centers creates a methodological basis for the development of promising architectural and typological models of these objects, taking into account their modernization and new construction

The primary goal of collecting Earth observation (EO) imagery is to map, analyze, and contribute to an understanding of the status and dynamics of geographic phenomena. In geographic information science (GIScience), the term object-based image analysis (OBIA) was tentatively introduced in 2006. When it was re-formulated in 2008 as geographic object-based image analysis (GEOBIA), the primary focus was on integrating multiscale EO data with GIScience and computer vision (CV) solutions to cope with the increasing spatial and temporal resolution of EO imagery. Building on recent trends in the context of big EO data analytics as well as major achievements in CV, the objective of this article is to review the role of spatial concepts in the understanding of image objects as the primary analytical units in semantic EO image analysis, and to identify opportunities where GEOBIA may support multi-source remote sensing analysis in the era of big EO data analytics. We (re-)emphasize the spatial paradigm as a key requisite for an image understanding system capable to deal with and exploit the massive data streams we are currently facing; a system which encompasses a combined physical and statistical model-based inference engine, a well-structured CV system design based on a convergence of spatial and colour evidence, semantic content-based image retrieval capacities, and the full integration of spatio-temporal aspects of the studied geographical phenomena.

The selectivity of the ubiquitin–26 S proteasome system (UPS) for a particular substrate protein relies on the interaction between a ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme (E2, of which a cell contains relatively few) and a ubiquitin–protein ligase (E3, of which there are possibly hundreds). Post-translational modifications of the protein substrate, such as phosphorylation or hydroxylation, are often required prior to its selection. In this way, the precise spatio-temporal targeting and degradation of a given substrate can be achieved. The E3s are a large, diverse group of proteins, characterized by one of several defining motifs. These include a HECT (homologous to E6-associated protein C-terminus), RING (really interesting new gene) or U-box (a modified RING motif without the full complement of Zn2+-binding ligands) domain. Whereas HECT E3s have a direct role in catalysis during ubiquitination, RING and U-box E3s facilitate protein ubiquitination. These latter two E3 types act as adaptor-like molecules. They bring an E2 and a substrate into sufficiently close proximity to promote the substrate's ubiquitination. Although many RING-type E3s, such as MDM2 (murine double minute clone 2 oncoprotein) and c-Cbl, can apparently act alone, others are found as components of much larger multi-protein complexes, such as the anaphase-promoting complex. Taken together, these multifaceted properties and interactions enable E3s to provide a powerful, and specific, mechanism for protein clearance within all cells of eukaryotic organisms. The importance of E3s is highlighted by the number of normal cellular processes they regulate, and the number of diseases associated with their loss of function or inappropriate targeting.

The second messenger 3′,5′-cyclic nucleoside adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) plays a key role in signal transduction across prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Cyclic AMP signaling is compartmentalized into microdomains to fulfil specific functions. To define the function of cAMP within these microdomains, signaling needs to be analyzed with spatio-temporal precision. To this end, optogenetic approaches and genetically encoded fluorescent biosensors are particularly well suited. Synthesis and hydrolysis of cAMP can be directly manipulated by photoactivated adenylyl cyclases (PACs) and light-regulated phosphodiesterases (PDEs), respectively. In addition, many biosensors have been designed to spatially and temporarily resolve cAMP dynamics in the cell. This review provides an overview about optogenetic tools and biosensors to shed light on the subcellular organization of cAMP signaling.

This study is a posthumous longitudinal study of consecutive letters written by an elderly woman from age 89 to 93. Findings reveal a consistent linguistic performance during the first 3 years, supporting “normal” status for late elderly writing. She produced clearly written cursive form, intact semantic content, and minimal spelling and stroke errors. A decline in writing was observed in the last 6–9 months of the study and an analysis revealed production of clausal fragmentation, decreasing semantic clarity, and a higher frequency of spelling, semantic, and stroke errors. Analysis of writing samples can be a valuable tool in documenting a change in cognitive status differentiated from normal late aging.

Two experiments investigated the information conveyed by intonation from speaker to listener. A multiple-choice test was devised to test the ability of 48 adults to recognize and label intonation when it was separated from all other meaning. Nine intonation contours whose labels were most agreed upon by adults were each matched with two English sentences (one with appropriate and one with inappropriate intonation and semantic content) to make a matching-test for children. The matching-test was tape-recorded and given to children in the first, third, and fifth grades (32 subjects in each grade). The first-grade children matched the intonations with significantly greater agreement than chance; but they agreed upon significantly fewer sentences than either the third or fifth graders. Some intonation contours were matched with significantly greater frequency than others. The performance of the girls was better than that of the boys on an impatient question and a simple command which indicates that there was a significant interaction between sex and intonation.

With the aim of establishing the temporal locus of the semantic conflict in color-word Stroop and emotional Stroop phenomena, we analyzed the Event-Related Potentials (ERPs) elicited by nonwords, incongruent and congruent color words, colored words with positive and negative emotional valence, and colored words with neutral valence. The incongruent, positive, negative, and neutral stimuli produced interference in the behavioral response to the color of the stimuli. The P150/N170 amplitude was sensitive to the semantic equivalence of both dimensions of the congruent color words. The P3b amplitude was smaller in response to incongruent color words and to positive, negative, and neutral colored words than in response to the congruent color words and colored nonwords. There were no differences in the ERPs induced in response to colored words with positive, negative, and neutral valence. Therefore, the P3b amplitude was sensitive to interference from the semantic content of the incongruent, positive, negative, and neutral words in the color-response task, independently of the emotional content of the colored words. In addition, the P3b amplitude was smaller in response to colored words with positive, negative, and neutral valence than in response to the incongruent color words. Overall, these data indicate that the temporal locus of the semantic conflict generated by the incongruent color words (in the color-word Stroop task) and by colored words with positive, negative, and neutral valence (in the emotional Stroop task) appears to occur in the range 300–450 ms post-stimulus.
