In recent times, generation of big data takes place in an exponential way from diverse textual data sources like review sites, media, blogs, etc. Sentiment analysis (SA) finds it useful to classify the opinions of the big data to different kinds ofsentiments. Therefore, SA on big data helps a business to take beneficial commercial understandings from text based content. Though several SA approaches have been presented, yet, there is a need to improve the performance of SA to interpret the customer’s feedback and increase the product quality. This paper introduces a novel social spider optimization based feature selection based wavelet kernel extreme learning machine (SSO-WKELM) model. The proposed model initially undergoes pre-processing to remove the unwanted word removal. Then, Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) is utilized as a feature extraction technique to extract the set of feature vectors. Besides, a social spider optimization (SSO) algorithm is utilized for feature selection process and thereby achieves improved classification performance. Subsequently, WKELM is employed as a classifier to classify the incidence of positive or negative user reviews. For experimental validation, a Product review dataset derived from Amazon along with synthetic data is used. The experimental results stated the superior classification performance of the SSO-WKELM model.

Along with the strong representation of the convolutional neural network (CNN), image classification tasks have achieved considerable progress. However, majority of works focus on designing complicated and redundant architectures for extracting informative features to improve classification performance. In this study, we concentrate on rectifying the incomplete outputs of CNN. To be concrete, we propose an innovative image classification method based on Label Rectification Learning (LRL) through kernel extreme learning machine (KELM). It mainly consists of two steps: (1) preclassification, extracting incomplete labels through a pretrained CNN, and (2) label rectification, rectifying the generated incomplete labels by the KELM to obtain the rectified labels. Experiments conducted on publicly available datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. Notably, our method is extensible which can be easily integrated with off-the-shelf networks for improving performance.

In this study, a new predictive framework is proposed by integrating an improved grey wolf optimization (IGWO) and kernel extreme learning machine (KELM), termed as IGWO-KELM, for medical diagnosis. The proposed IGWO feature selection approach is used for the purpose of finding the optimal feature subset for medical data. In the proposed approach, genetic algorithm (GA) was firstly adopted to generate the diversified initial positions, and then grey wolf optimization (GWO) was used to update the current positions of population in the discrete searching space, thus getting the optimal feature subset for the better classification purpose based on KELM. The proposed approach is compared against the original GA and GWO on the two common disease diagnosis problems in terms of a set of performance metrics, including classification accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, precision, G-mean, F-measure, and the size of selected features. The simulation results have proven the superiority of the proposed method over the other two competitive counterparts.

Objective: Lithium-ion batteries are important components used in electric automobiles (EVs), fuel cell EVs and other hybrid EVs. Therefore, it is greatly important to discover its remaining useful life (RUL). Methods: In this paper, a battery RUL prediction approach using multiple kernel extreme learning machine (MKELM) is presented. The MKELM’s kernel keeps diversified by consisting multiple kernel functions including Gaussian kernel function, Polynomial kernel function and Sigmoid kernel function, and every kernel function’s weight and parameter are optimized through differential evolution (DE) algorithm. Results : Battery capacity data measured from NASA Ames Prognostics Center are used to demonstrate the prediction procedure of the proposed approach, and the MKELM is compared with other commonly used prediction methods in terms of absolute error, relative accuracy and mean square error. Conclusion: The prediction results prove that the MKELM approach can accurately predict the battery RUL. Furthermore, a compare experiment is executed to validate that the MKELM method is better than other prediction methods in terms of prediction accuracy.

To address the problem that the faults in axial piston pumps are complex and difficult to effectively diagnose, an integrated hydraulic pump fault diagnosis method based on the modified ensemble empirical mode decomposition (MEEMD), autoregressive (AR) spectrum energy, and wavelet kernel extreme learning machine (WKELM) methods is presented in this paper. First, the non-linear and non-stationary hydraulic pump vibration signals are decomposed into several intrinsic mode function (IMF) components by the MEEMD method. Next, AR spectrum analysis is performed for each IMF component, in order to extract the AR spectrum energy of each component as fault characteristics. Then, a hydraulic pump fault diagnosis model based on WKELM is built, in order to extract the features and diagnose faults of hydraulic pump vibration signals, for which the recognition accuracy reached 100%. Finally, the fault diagnosis effect of the hydraulic pump fault diagnosis method proposed in this paper is compared with BP neural network, support vector machine (SVM), and extreme learning machine (ELM) methods. The hydraulic pump fault diagnosis method presented in this paper can diagnose faults of single slipper wear, single slipper loosing and center spring wear type with 100% accuracy, and the fault diagnosis time is only 0.002 s. The results demonstrate that the integrated hydraulic pump fault diagnosis method based on MEEMD, AR spectrum, and WKELM methods has higher fault recognition accuracy and faster speed than existing alternatives.
