Abstract This paper describes the optimization of preventive maintenance (PM) over a finite planning horizon in a semi-Markov framework. In this framework, the asset may be operating, and providing income for the asset owner, or not operating and undergoing PM, or not operating and undergoing corrective maintenance following failure. PM is triggered when the asset has been operating for τ time units. A number m of transitions specifies the finite horizon. This system is described with a set of recurrence relations, and their z-transform is used to determine the value of τ that maximizes the average accumulated reward over the horizon. We study under what conditions a solution can be found, and for those specific cases the solution τ* is calculated. Despite the complexity of the mathematical solution, the result obtained allows the analyst to provide a quick and easy-to-use tool for practical application in many real-world cases. To demonstrate this, the method has been implemented for a case study, and its accuracy and practical implementation were tested using Monte Carlo simulation and direct calculation.

Abstract Presented paper deals with the topic of preventive maintenance. A decision support system was designed, incorporating historical as well as forecast information to calculate the time remaining to preventive maintenance. The designed system optimizes maintenance costs without any further investment and running costs. An algorithm of the designed system is introduced and a case study of its implementation is described in the paper.

Kata kunci: Sistem Pembangunan Proses, proses penambahbaikan, lampin pakai buang Process Development System is a systematic engineering approach to analyze problems and improve the processes and product quality. This study focuses on the problem of diaper production processes and its improvements. For the case study, one dedicated machine (Technopro Machine) is selected. Combination of Statistical Process Control and other approaches like Kepner Tregoe concept, Poka Yoke concept, SMED concept, zero setting, centerlining, F1 Pit Stop concept, and video recording are used in the improvement process. The machine running time, machine downtime, preventive maintenance time, machine efficiency percentage, and product produced per hour are used to monitor the efficiency of the improved processes. This study is successful in developing and designing the Process Development System to improve the existing processes. Keywords: Process Development System, process improvement, diaper

The work carried out has the purpose of improving and optimizing various industrial technical operations, such as preventive maintenance, taken here as an example of application, using the Design for Disassembly (DfD) technique. Therefore, through four metaheuristic methods that have been chosen among the most widespread in the field (described below) to make a comparison between them, the optimal disassembly sequence is sought, if it exists, in terms of time and then costs in order to extract a target component without damaging the other mechanical parts of the assembly. The hypothesis that has been tested throughout this case study is “a responsible application of DfD, not only from the design process of a product but also during the disassembly procedure, can bring substantial benefits to the company”. Interaction with a hypothetical operator in charge of the work to be performed is implemented with the use of augmented reality. In fact, through an application programmed for an Android device (in this case, a mobile phone, hence a handheld device), the operator can be instructed step-by-step on the disassembly sequence in dynamics as an animation. Finally, two virtual buttons were added in augmented reality with which the operator can start and pause/resume the animation at any time to facilitate the understanding of the different steps established by the sequence.

Automatically controlled hydraulic tension systems adjust the tension force of a conveyor belt under different working conditions. Failures of an automatically controlled hydraulic tension system influence the performance of conveyor belts. At present, the maintenance of automatically controlled hydraulic tension systems mainly considers the replacement of components when failures occur. Considering the maintenance cost and downtime, it is impossible to repair all the failed components to improve the hydraulic tension system. One of the key problems is selecting the most valuable components for preventive maintenance. In this paper, preventive maintenance for multiple components in a hydraulic tension system is analyzed. An index is proposed to select more reliable preventive maintenance components to replace the original ones. A case study is given to demonstrate the proposed method. When the cost budget increases, there are three different variations in the number of components for selective preventive maintenance (SPM).

The mosque is considered one of the most important buildings of the Islamic city since the Prophet's Mosque (peace and blessings be upon him), and maintenance is considered an important element and a cornerstone of buildings in general. This is due to the deterioration of public buildings generally given the bad use and common ownership of the mosque and in turn, its facilities have deteriorated. Some mosques belong to historic buildings, so maintaining them is of extra importance. In light of the status of the construction and maintenance systems of historic mosques in Egypt and the limitations and problems faced, this paper presents a proposed guide for the preventive maintenance of historic mosques. It also provides clear evidence for workers in the field of maintenance of mosques including the key elements that need to be taken into consideration while preparing the preventive maintenance plan for mosques. The preventive maintenance of the mosque needs a range of tools and methods in order to succeed. Planning and scheduling for items are major elements among these tools. In order to achieve integration between the elements and the different phases mentioned above, we need to formulate them in a form of an integrated guide with completed elements and dimensions. To find a guide for the maintenance of the mosques we should clearly identify the principles and rules for that guide. This comes through clarity of the purpose, the elements required to be controlled, how to control them, the statement of the time and places and the economic aspects of the guide. This research aims to find a guide for the maintenance of historic mosques, by making a case study for the Mosque of Abul-Hajjaj in Luxor.
