This paper discusses the importance of working with a literary text (especially poetry) in the context of the foreign language (FL) classroom. In order to facilitate FL teaching, language teachers are encouraged to use poetry and rhetorical devices occurring in such texts (e.g. rhymes, alliteration, metaphor etc.). The paper offers some teaching procedures and techniques based on rhetorical devices, which may prove valuable in raising FL students’ motivation and language awareness while having fun analyzing quality literary texts.

The debate over literary writing in a foreign language has instigated a lot of dichotomous points of view in Moroccan academic and cultural circles. History of modern Morocco has witnessed strong ongoing debates about the identity of creative writings in foreign language. There are those who would consider such writings as cultural alienation. Contrary to that, there are those who refuse to link literary text to language belonging, and link it instead to the collective imaginary and to the literary product as a manifestation of this imaginary. In fact, expressing the self by using a foreign language puts into question notions such as cultural identity, authority, nation-building, and otherness. By applying the theory of hierarchical reading which appeared in the post colonial studies, we have established the relationship between using French in creative writings and La Francophonie as a colonial ideology imposed on people and annexed spaces.

The relevance of the monograph is determined, first of all, by the fact that contemporary national literatures are increasingly interacting with each other through translation, and thus the need to consider translated works in comparison with the originals is increasing. Studying the features and patterns of the literary translation is an important area of modern comparative studies. The work focuses on ways of preserving the national and cultural component of the translated text. The works of M. Gogol, Lesia Ukrainka, I. Franko, F. Dostoievskyi, R. Kipling, and J. Conrad were analyzed according to this aspect. A comparative idea of a dialogue is proposed. It is noted that translation is a broad dialogic process between the author and the reader through the interpreter, which includes reception and interpretation. Literary translation is interpreted as the basis for establishing a dialogue between the text and the interpreter, as an expression of the meaning that flows through the prism of the translating consciousness and enriches it, as a co-creation of the writer and interpreter, the purpose of which is mutual understanding, and the result of this understanding is the text-translation. Attention is paid to the issue of intertextuality as a translation problem. Despite the understanding of intertextuality as the interaction between the texts by different authors (text in text) and the interrelation between different works of one author, the thesis proposes to expand the scope of interpretation of this term, adding to it also different interpretations of one work in the same language. In the monograph the problem of reception and interpretation of literary text is considered in the imagological aspect. In particular, the study of reception and interpretation of other national character in a foreign language discourse plays an important role. Foreign language reception and interpretation of laughter culture in general and «Gogol laughter» in particular are thoroughly investigated. A deep analysis of the works of M. Gogol and F. Dostoevsky made it possible to conclude that the carnival colour of Gogol's «pure, folk-festive» laughter and the parody and comic intonation of F. Dostoevsky during translation give rise to certain problems of preserving their identity. It is noted that the perception of colour in a literary work is a peculiar way of interpreting it, and the semantic nuances of colour markings in one language or another require the problem of the reception adequacy and the interpretation of colour when translating from language to language. The practical importance of the monograph is determined by the possibility of using its basic provisions and results as an additional source of information for further comprehension of the translational paradigm in the comparative dimension.

Esta discusión explora cómo lingüística y /o barreras culturales pueden afectar la respuesta estética a un texto literario en lectores competentes a un segundo idioma. A medida que el marco teórico que apoya esta discusión tanto en la teoría del esquema y la teoría transaccional de Rosenblatt se han utilizado. Se sugiere aquí que los lectores de segunda lengua ya poseen esquemas suficiente de la lengua extranjera y la cultura como en la operación con un texto estético. En esta transacción la comprensión de lectura se puede evidenciar. This discussion explores how linguistic and /or cultural barriers can affect the aesthetic response to a literary text in proficient second language readers. As the theoretical frame supporting this discussion both schema theory and Rosenblatt's transactional theory have been used. It is suggested here that second language readers already possess sufficient schemata of the foreign language and culture as to transact with a text aesthetically. In this transaction reading comprehension can be evidenced.

Learning a foreign language cannot be separated from literature and culture. One of the definitions of literature is a reflection of society; so through literature we can know the real image of society as well as the culture. Moreover, by knowing the foreign cultures of the countries from which we learn the language, we can not only read, but also understand the problems that appear in the texts studied. Similarly, French culture cannot be separated from Maghreb culture. The two cultures complement each other, later becoming the content of various literary, French literary and Francophone literary. The relationship between the two cultures is also part of the content of Virginie Despentes' novel Apocalypse bébé. Through this novel, we can see an image of the relationship between France and the Maghreb people in their social life. Thus, as a learner of French, we could know not only French culture through the textbooks published by French publishers, but also recognize the French culture associated with France both directly and indirectly. Therefore, the literary text entitled Apocalypse bébé can be an alternative source of learning French, not only in terms of language attached to vocabulary and grammar, but also to know French and Francophone culture so that students know the relationship for understanding and analyzing literary works.
