Among weeds commonly found in Brazil that directly interfere on agriculture, those classified in Convolvulaceae Family may be highlighted, particularly Ipomoea L. genus, popularly known as morning glories. Flumioxazin and saflufenacil are herbicide molecules registered to control these weeds. In this context, this work was developed with the objective of evaluating the susceptibility of four Ipomoea genus weed species to the herbicides flumioxazin and saflufenacil. Two similar and independent experiments were performed in 2017, adopting completely randomized blocks and four replicates. Treatments were organized according to an 8x4 factorial scheme, which eight were the rates of each herbicide and four were the weed species of Ipomoea genus (I. hederifolia, I. nil, I. quamoclit and I. triloba). The following rates were adopted to saflufenacil (g ha-1): 0, 1.5, 3.0, 6.1, 12.3, 24.5, 49.0 and 98.0. The rates adopted to flumioxazin were (g ha-1): 0, 3.75, 7.5, 15.0, 30.0, 60.0, 120.0 and 480.0. Ipomoea genus weed species were completely controlled by the herbicides saflufenacil and flumioxazin, which may be considered excellent alternatives to control morning glories. I. triloba and I. nil were identified as the least sensible species to flumioxazin at the rate of 3.75 g ha-1; lower control of I. triloba was also identified with 7.5 g ha-1 of flumioxazin; rates equal to or higher than 15.0 g ha-1 promoted total control of weeds.

A study was conducted to evaluate efficacy of 17 PRE herbicides on seven weed species that are important competitors in container-grown ornamentals. Treatments included napropamide, metolachlor, acifluorfen, lactofen, oxyfluorfen, oryzalin, pendimethalin, prodiamine, trifluralin, isoxaben, oxadiazon, simazine and combination products. Control was evaluated by counting weed seedlings 42, 202, and 249 d after treatment. Some treatments provided nearly total control of less than 1.0 seedling per container at each rating over two years. Those treatments were: common groundsel—diphenyl ethers, isoxaben, oxadiazon, oxyfluorfen + oryzalin, and oxyfluorfen + pendimethalin; prostrate spurge—pendimethalin, prodiamine, prodiamine-ABD, trifluralin, oxadiazon, isoxaben + oryzalin, and methazole + prodiamine; common chickweed—isoxaben and isoxaben + oryzalin; hairy bittercress—oxyfluorfen, pendimethalin, prodiamine, prodiamine-ABE, oxadiazon, oxyfluorfen + oryzalin, oxyfluorfen + pendimethalin, and methazole + prodiamine; common ragweed—oxyfluorfen, prodiamine-ABD, methazole + prodiamine; Virginia pepperweed—lactofen, oxyfluorfen, oryzalin, pendimethalin, prodiamine, prodiamine-ABD, isoxaben, oxadiazon, oxyfluorfen + oryzalin, oryzalin + pendimethalin, isoxaben + oryzalin, and methazole + prodiamine; horseweed—oxyfluorfen, dinitroanilines, oxadiazon, oxyfluorfen + oryzalin, oxyfluorfen + pendimethalin, isoxaben + oryzalin, and methazole + prodiamine.

Plant nutrition is one of the most important intensification factors of crop production. The utilization of nutrients, however, may be modified by a number of production factors, including weed presence. Thus, the knowledge of occurring weed species, their abundance, nutrient and water uptake is extremely important to establish an appropriate basis for the evaluation of their risks or negative effects on crops. That is why investigations were carried out in a long-term fertilization experiment on the influence of different nutrient supplies (Ø, PK, NK, NPK) on weed flora in maize field.The weed surveys recorded similar diversity on the experimental area: the species of A. artemisiifolia, S. halepense and D. stramonium were dominant, but C. album and C. hybridum were also common. These species and H. annuus were the most abundant weeds.Based on the totalized and average data of all treatments, density followed the same tendency in the experimental years. It was the highest in the PK treated and untreated plots, and significantly exceeded the values of NK fertilized areas. Presumably the better N availability promoted the development of nitrophilic weeds, while the mortality of other small species increased.Winter wheat and maize forecrops had no visible influence on the diversity and the intensity of weediness. On the contrary, there were consistent differences in the density of certain weed species in accordance to the applied nutrients. A. artemisiifolia was present in the largest number in the untreated control and PK fertilized plots. The density of S. halepense and H. annuus was also significantly higher in the control areas. The number of their individuals was smaller in those plots where N containing fertilizers were used. Contrary to them, the density of D. stramonium, C. album and C. hybridum was the highest in the NPK treatments.

The article presents the results of field experiments, where on the basis of podsolized heavy loamy chernozem the influence of replacement of mouldboard ploughing with nonmouldboard cultivation over top soil weediness, weediness at the beginning and end of spring crop vegetation and weed species composition before harve sting were studied. Investigation methods of main fall ploughing under spring crops of five-course rotation: soybeans–rape–wheat–flax–barley at the depths of 15-17, 20-22, 25-27 cm were conducted after post-harvest field tillage. Analysis of data on contamination of the top soil with weed seeds have shown that with the replacement of fall main mouldboard ploughing gwith nonmouldboard cultivation the figure before sowing of all crops withdifferent tillage depthat crop rotation average increased by 131-132%. It caused the increase of actual weed infestation of all crops and at the beginning and end of spring crop vegetationafter different depths of fall nonmouldboard cultivation compared with ploughing at crop rotation average it was 120–132 and 123-138%respectively. Species composition of weeds afterthe replacement of main fall mouldboard ploughing with nonmouldboard cultivation remained mainlyunchanged; although in rape plantings the proportion of white campion and early spring weed sincreased, in wheat plantings– wild mustard andscentless mayweed, insoybean plantings– late spring weeds, in flax plantings– white campion, and in barley plantings– scarlet pimpernel.

Field experiments were conducted at research farm of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Kalyani, West Bengal, India (22°97' N latitude and 88°44' E longitude, 9.75 m above mean sea level) under natural weed infestations in boro season rice (nursery bed as well as main field) during 2017-18 and 2018-19 to evaluate the herbicidal effects on weed floras, yield, non-target soil organisms to optimize the herbicide use for sustainable rice-production. Seven weed control treatments including three doses of bispyribac-sodium 10% SC (150,200, and 250 ml ha-1), two doses of fenoxaprop-p-ethyl 9.3% EC (500 and 625 ml ha-1), one weed free and weedy check were laid out in a randomized complete block design, replicated thrice. Among the tested herbicides, bispyribac-sodium with its highest dose (250 ml ha-1) resulted in maximum weed control efficiency, treatment efficiency index and crop resistance index irrespective of weed species and dates of observation in both nursery as well as main field. Similar treatment also revealed maximum grain yield (5.20 t ha-1), which was 38.38% higher than control, closely followed by Fenoxaprop-p-ethyl (625 ml ha-1) had high efficacy against grasses, sedge and broadleaf weed flora. Maximum net return (Rs. 48765 ha-1) and benefit cost ratio (1.72) were obtained from the treatment which received bispyribac-sodium @ 250 ml ha-1. Based on overall performance, the bispyribac-sodium (250 ml ha-1) may be considered as the best herbicide treatment for weed management in transplanted rice as well as nursery bed.
